i fail more with silver ring than i do with silver earing. there must be some mistake with the silver ring formula
Skill Cap 30
# Dec 17 2006 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent
My Goldsmithing skill was at 31.9, i desynthed a Silver ring, and recieved a +.1 increase. Leading me to belive that the skillcap 30 the site has listed is incorrect. I still fail a large percentage of the time at skill 32, and have recieved no further skill ups. possibly due to poor luck. I hope this will help to find the real skill cap, and prevent people from trying to desynththese rings too early.

Easiest to make this is Goldsmithing (Lv 17). Fire Crystals + 4 Silver Beastman seals. ^_^

Silver Ingot caps at 54?

Can anyone make sure this is correct?

Goldsmithing (54)
Yield: 1
HQ Yield: 1
Crystal: Lightning
Flame Boomerang x1

i'm just wondering because there's another recipe just like this 1 but caps at 45 and you get mythril ingot from it. I think whoever posted it, posted it wrong.
It's a shame,

It's a shame you can't use four pieces of silver ore to make a silver ignot. It would be so much easier for me. XD

i used 4 silver ores to make a silver ingot when i had my GS at like 10

You can desynth Silver Earrings into silver ingots too. Not sure what lvl it is, but I HQ really frequently at lvl 30 and get 2 ingots out of it quite often

Ah, I read that it was Smithing, and apparently it is not. I'm lvl 25 Smithing, and it won't let me desynth these, but it would let me synth padded caps and war picks. So I would have to agree that it is Goldsmithing.

Smithing (30)
Yield: 1 (Max: 2)
Crystal: Lightning
Silver Ring x1

Recipe is Goldsmithing. I used this recipe last night, my smithing is 14 and goldsmithing at the time was 29.1. I actually got a .1 skill up on goldsmithing in about 15 attempts. Also sent them the correction.

Midgardsormr's profit on these babies is nutty:
Good guild day = 315 per ore. Fire crystals varied often, mostly 300 per stack

315 x 4 = 1260 per ingot x 12 = 15,120 for a stack + Fire = about 18-20,000

Stack sells in jeuno b/t 25,000-30,000.

Hooray!

hey I'm a bit curious but on my server silver ingots go for 3-10k gil an Sandy and in jeuno 10-25k. I can't see how those guys make profit with selling these for so cheap. Is there some unknwon method to synth them? >;C
Anyways I'm happy since I just bought 20 stacks for around 5 k which means I gotta pay only 6k for 1 stack silver bullets while they go for 18k in ah.

It seems like it's the same way with prety much everything (at least untill like gold or something I haven't figured out the profit on that yet) in Goldsmithing. On Carby Silver ingots go for like just under the price to make them. In Jeuno silver rings go for 2k ea. and it would cost me a little over 5k to make one. The only thing I can really find that sells for a profit is Poisona rings which prety much 1 person makes and they sell for 10k which is about a 3k profit IF you buy the silver ring in Jeuno, but for that you need Gold Purification which seems like it's taking forever to get (and eating up a good amount of gil in the procces).

And annother thing. Don't even go saying "Well you would get a profit if you mined/ farmed crystals" because if you did that you could sell the materials and get a larger profit. I just don't get why people sell this stuff for less than it costs to make. People say it's because people wouldn't want to buy the stuff if they could just make it themselves, but then why sell them at all if you're loosing gil?
RE: profit?
# Oct 19 2005 at 3:12 AM Rating: Decent
You can buy the Silver rings from the gem shop in lower jeuno. I think they go for like 1.4k for me and i have somewhat low Jeuno fame. You can also buy Mythril earrings from that shop as well. Anyone, that's doing goldsmithing, notice there's 1 or jpn players that goes to the guild and buys all the rocks? I noticed that today cause i wanted to make the lvl 36 rings to skill up and i didn't want to pay the high price for jewels. Oh well, save some gil and buy the rings from the shop instead of the AH if you need the rings to make other rings.
RE: profit?
# Apr 20 2005 at 11:45 PM Rating: Decent
....skill ups my friend.

most people....well ALL people are willing to get alittle punch in there gil bag's to get that 0.1 skillup. but in the end you can easaly make it back.

in short....it cost money to make money.

i hope you wont get hit too hard will trying to lvl GS.... i did :(

I'm pretty sure its goldsmithing, not sure why alla listed it as blacksmithing. It should be goldsmithing to desynth if it follows the pattern that 99.9% of the other items do. Which is to be at or slightly above the skill used to make the item.
Setting the Record Straight
# Mar 01 2005 at 11:53 AM Rating: Default
Alright everyone I want to just post this to the top to set some things straight on the Silver Ingot discussions below since there is a lot of misinformation and general confusion.

I’m not going to get into a discussion over when you should start trying to make them basically just look at the recipe list, look at your level, check the Day, moon phases aren’t to huge since you can’t get an HQ synth of an ingot from ore or nuggets.

Silver depending on your server can net a good profit or not, on mine Quzelcotal it doesn’t.

Silver Ingot from Silver Ore Fire crystal = 4,000 = 333ea / Silver ore = 700x4 = 2800
Silver ingot = 2800 / Stack = 33600 / Sells = 35000 / Net = 1400

[link=null]Not a huge net result……[/link]

An INCORRECT point which was made throughout this thread is how Silver Ingots can not be HQ’d from desynthing. Again this is a false statement. My Goldsmithing level is 60. I can regularly desynth a silver ring and net 2 Silver Ingots YES TWO. I have also as some of the posts stated received the HQ animation and got all excited since I thought I was going to net 2 Silver ingots however I occasionally only receive a single one. This leads me to believe that the 2 ingots from desynthing come from HQ3 desynth (if there is such a thing) it’s the only way I can rationalize it.

When ever I see silver rings on the AH I just buy them up.

Silver Ingot from Silver Ring: Lightning crystal = 2000 = 166ea / Silver ring = 1500 / Stack = 18000 / Sells = 35000 / Net = 17000

That equation right there is if you only desynth 1 ingot per ring. However desynthing as everyone knows is a bit more volatile then regular synthing however I on average get 3-4 dual ingot desynths from the silver rings. If that is the case my net return incrases since it will cost me 13000 instead of the 18000 above and my net return on a stack of Silver is 22000, which makes things very nice……

So…I haven’t yet tried a silver hairpin as an item to desynth and I can’t recall how much it goes for on the AH and see if the process makes “money sense”.

So, in summary, you can get multiple ingots from desynthing silver rings with a lightning crystal again I am 40 levels above the cap so take that into consideration.

You will never get multiple ingots from using ore or nuggets even if you get an HQ animation.(that goes true with any ingot)

Hope this helps to clarify.

i see on here that it lists the recipe for desynthin silver ingots from hairpin shows as
# Goldsmithing (--)
Yield: 1

* Crystal: Lightning
* Silver Hairpin x1
does this mean that the skill level is uknown or that you can desynth at any skill lvl.
RE: Setting the Record Straight

I believe it's unknown. I'm currently at 23 goldsmithing and got a .1 skill increase twice so far today while desynthing these to synth them again.

setting the record further..

on ramuh silver ore runs roughly 400-500 gil from Auction House and 315-500 from guild.
fire crystals hover between 4000-5000 a stack.

now assuming you have 2 stacks of fire crystals (~9000 gil) and buy 96 silver ore (@315) = 30240
spend 39240. 2 stacks of silver ingots will sell for about 30-36000 per stack depending where you sell it, bastok being ~34000. so you get 68000 back from your 40000 investment.. not bad at all.

as far as desynthing. It is goldsmith skill.. not smithing.
you can desynth earrings and rings, both will give 1 or 2 ingots. as far as the hq.. hq1 will give one ingot, hq2 will give 2, hq3 will give 2. It occurs much too often to be just a hq3 desynth (try moblin mail desynth and you'll know what I mean).
now... why are you buying your silver rings for 1500? You do know there is a jewelry shop in jeuno that sells them in unlimited quanity for 1250 gil per ring or earring right? If you are lucky enough to have Bastok in first place and max bastok fame I believe the jewelry shop next to the goldsmith guild sells silver rings for ~1100 gil per.

do hq desynth:
- silver rings and all rings made from silver rings (amethyst, balance, whatever)
- silver earrings and all earrings made from silver earrings (amethyst, balance, whatever)
- silver chain and some things made from silver chain.
- silver bangles etc

generally, if it takes 2 or more ingots to make the item, or one of the items in another item, it can hq desynth to multiple ingots

things that will not hq desynth into multiple ingots (you can get hq animation, but same result as nq):
- hairpins
- drawing a blank :/

generally if it only takes one ingot to make, you can only get one back.

hopefully that helps clear things up some...
currently 64.2 goldsmithing ^^

Actually, Iron Ingots can be HQ'd into steel with the 4 x iron ore recipe. I'm not sure if any of the higher level ingots can be or not since I haven't gotten there yet.

I fail to see why you buy silver ore for 700? Its huge waste of time and gil to do that way.

Now what I found out working nicely is this:
(At first to show a fragment of days cycling)
WatersDay -> WindsDay -> IceDay -> LightningDay

IceDay being holiday for goldsmith guild.
So I buy all silver ore from guild at watersday (usually goes for 420 gil a piece).
Going to farm all windsday and icesday (on windsday price is like 670 per silver ore - little purchases). And I come to guildshop a 7:50 on LightningsDay. And what you think? Price is 315 per item. Because 2 days buying of silver ore was very low or none at all.
So ~4.3k for stack for fire crystals + 315 * 48 = 19420 gil. And sells for about 31k so 31k-20k = 11k net profit!
And if I am alone I can make about 4 stacks of silver ingots. So in about 45 mins of buying and synthing I earn about 44k profit - it is my main gil making source for 3 RL days already (after I found this pattern) 2 more days and I should have about 250k gil which will be enough to upgrade all my needed eq and continue BST carreer!

Hope that helps

Btw even buying for 420 gil a piece you earn:
31k - 4.3k - 0.42*48k=6.5k gil per stack which is still ok.
And the highest price I pay for silver ore (from AH or any bazaar is 500).

Silver is the low lvl Goldsmither's way to make money. It's cheap to make and sells for a decent profit. If you play your cards right you nvr have to be broke ever again with silver :) Unfortunately I'm still trying to get to that stage /sigh

It means that if your crafting skill is significantly higher than the skill required to make the item (20 for silver ingots), you could make 2, or even 3 silver ingots in a single synthesis.

That is untrue, I've gotten HQ on ingot synths and never made more than one, my goldsmithing skill is 42, atm, and HQ'ing silver and brass synths has never given me more than 1. Some synths have special high quality results, some do not, it depends on the synth. Also, you can get a HQ without any different results. The sound effects and synthesis animation will be that of a HQ, but will give regular results.

Actually you can get HQ and HQ2 syhtns from desything silver chain . There is a vendor that sells chain belts , can't remember which , which desynth into 2 silver chains . With any luck you can get 1 , 2 or even up to 3 ingots from 1 chain . Friend of mine told me the vendor sells the chain belts for 2k each , but I have to research this futher.

noones gonna beleive this, but i started goldsmithing as a lvl 1. i had next to no money and i only spent what i got. im now Thf11 and War 13, and i have over 35k i started making silver(with support) every darks day when the price was 315 startind at 9 goldsmithing. im lvl 17 goldsmith now and i've made over 50k. It's strange, but i've heard so much bout others losing a lot of money as they lvl goldsmithing. I can't see... unless they all sold thiers back to npc's. that would be horrible profit. i sold all mine at ah. silver ingots are at 28k a stack now so make about 12k profit a stack. You need a lot of patience for goldsmithing though, because unless you buy at the right time youll lose a lot

It is not the early levels of goldsmithing that hurts, it is the later stuff. Silver makes good cash, but profitable skill ups are few and far between later on, especially post 40-45 from what I here. Also, after 50, levelling any craft slows down significantly, and this also spikes up the cost to level.

There are alot of materials out there that lightning crystals can change weapons, armor and stuff in to ingots, skin stuff like that but u must be in the lvl range to be able to use a lighting to change stuff bak to its orignal form or a form of that material that was used.
