Today had Light Crossbow as the Guild Point-item for Woodworking. Whenever I can afford it, and it's something I know I can make with little or no failures, I like to max out my point-rewards for the day (I've been kinda lagging on it overall). So I headed to the AH, and got 2 stacks of each ingredient. After synthing 24 times, I was left with4 +1 versions of it. I put 3 up on AH, near the going rate of 7k. I'll keep one for leveling WAR and DRK, my RNG is already on to another x-bow.
As far as the price vs. materials issue, it's been my experience that most normal synths are sold at a loss, so all HQ synths are sold quite a bit above, in an effort to recover some of those lost expenses for leveling the craft up to where we CAN HQ them. =^.^=

This item (and a lot of other +1 bows) are so expensive because they require cross-class experience to HQ. Shortbow +1s, for example, only need woodworking to HQ, so they sell for significantly less than say, a Longbow +1. Almost all multi-class HQs are very expensive, simply because there are fewer people who can make them.
