The reason they cancel out each other pretty much is because you're supposed to use one, atleast thats how i look at it.. use the one that increases something you are weak at.
this and anju JUST wanna make me hurl! the bonuses cance each other out T_T {Yawn} i mean come on!!!! BCNM's give off such good stuff i hate that you need to do the weapon articfacts to getthe equip CAN"T wait for +1 artifacts!!!!

These photos look to have been taken during a CoP 2-5 run. This one, the NIN is tanking a Firedrake in Riverne A01. The shot for the Anju, she's tanking a Mammet in Monarch Linn.

look at it this way, u can use one depending on ur needs str or dex and use another wep, like the nikk (-25% spell interuption)

The names are actually from a japanese play/movie named Sansho Dayu, or "Sansho the bailiff"

SMN is the most useless AF1 ne ways y cant SE give us things that are useful

RNG AF1 is also quite useless, as the level 40 Battle Bow+1 is far more useful than it. RNG AF1 shouldnt ever even be used.
if u use both af u only get +1 str and +1 dex

You can pretty much decide for yourself what weapon you want to use. If you are a ninja that focusses on dex equipment then go for the one with dex+2, if you're a ninja that focusses on str gear then go for the other one.
But then again...loads of AF1 are useless. The thf one I'm using is quite good though. Monk's was the most crappiest ever though >_<

these katanas are bull#@$%! one gives +2str -1dex, the other +2dex -1str. so you get +1 to str and dex for 2 AF weapons...AF!! aren't AF items supposed to be usefull!? i'm not even gonna bother getting these crapy weapons (>.<)

Hmm, as a newer Ninja (just started it because my LS started a static and needed a tank) I'm takin a look and the obvious choice for me is the dex katana. But to say these weapons are useless well together they may be...but if u use one at a time you'll be alright...Being an Elvaan Myself I'm gonna use the dex for pting. But neither are really crappy...and 2x free weapons. Hells yea I'll take that....Nin is expensive enough as it is. I mean these aren't as useful as my first AF weapon (the only decent AF drk gets) but hey we can't ask for everything can we? And oh Mr. I'm not gonna take the time to get these....have fun trying to figure out why you can't start your AF armor quest

The way I see it, the STR one in main hand and the Nikkariaoe in your off hand and you will be ready to do some tanking. Saying that these AF katanas are crap is total BS. Seriously, you have options with your AF weapons here, granted I had options when I got my mnk AF weapons too, throw them away or lose a MH slot...
Of course, you don't need to equip BOTH of them...

I dunno if I'd say most AF weapons are useless. I love my Blessed Hammer to death, and my Paper knife wasn't too bad with an Elegant Shield to match it. Signa has more CHR, but also -5VIT, and Signa is overrated, anyway. (I had one, it was nice, but I didn't notice a difference when I didn't use it anymore.)
Ummm... No. Fencing Degen is completely helpful. 10 mp and INT and MND. Very helpful when you don't want to use a club during soloing and other cases when you need to melee.
I use to keep on all the time at the start of battle just for the 10 extra MP that at that level no weapon RDM can equip could equal too.

Yeah, Warrior AF Axe has some nice stats for a level 40 warrior using dual wield. To bad I was hooked on WAR/MNK until level 50 when I realized that I would never get a party with that set up. Looking back though, if I was a WAR/NIN, I would have dual wield the AF axe. I always wonder if doing these quests would grant you fame for the area you started it in. If so, this AF quest might be worth it for two reasons.

I would do it anyway just to say you did it and then throw the katana away...

well, you will EVENTUALLY need to get them, as you cant get the rest of your AF without having first done the AF1 to get these...just a thought...

on my equipment menu (on this website) it says DEX +1 and it's supposed to be DEX -1
