So this quest would have been DOABLE had I known that Windurst Waters actually doubled over...apparently there's two parts to Windurst Waters and they're both part of the same map...you don't zone when going from upper to lower and so i ignored ALLL of those people and failed the mission!! LAME!! :'(
Am I one of the few people who believe that this hat is actually worth getting and holding on to? While it may not be as useful as Lv1 event headgear, or certain things like Hairpins, it's free defense at level 4. While it may only be 2, it can still add up with the rest of your armor.
Stupidest quest ever. I spent over an hour talking to everyone in windurst waters including the "key" people who have something to say about the hat. I get back to the seller and talk to the three people again and when I say I'm done, he tells me it went horribly and gives me a crappy 50 gil. Now I get no hat and a bad taste in my mouth for wasting an hour...
yeah i did the same but i didnt leave windurst waters i stayed inside it but i dont think i talked to enough people when he called me a slacker i felt like killing the geezer
Yes, it's stupid, but I bet I know why you didn't get the good end; the same reason I didn't. As I went through talking to the NPCs, I noticed that the first time I talked to them, I showed them the hat. After that, I didn't. But when I came back from loop through the northern parts of Windurst Waters, I noticed that when I talked to NPCs I *knew* I shown the hat to before, I was showing them the hat again. I thought it was odd, but wasn't sure what do to about it. I sure didn't want to talk to everybody again, and why should I have to? So I went back to the hatter, and got the bad end. I was really puzzled; I was pretty sure I'd talked to every NPC in Waters, and I'd found several who wanted the hat. So I looked up the quest description here. It said, "Don't leave Windurst Waters". And the horrible light dawned. I had zoned out of Waters two or three times while going along the tunnels to make sure I didn't miss NPCs wandering the tunnels. And everytime I had, the list of NPCs I had talked to had reset. Ergh. A really nasty trick. The quest had simply said "Only talk to people in Windurst Waters," and I had. It never said "Don't LEAVE Windurst Waters."
This hat matches the fishing gear very well. That's what I use it for.. don't fish without it. Sure, it doesn't add any stat bonuses, but it makes you look hardcore in your fishing gear.
Lol! I agree, this + fishing stuff makes you look pretty cool, and it shows other people that you did the quest...otherwise it's pretty worthless, but hey, you look snazzy. ^_-
actually ive gotten several rare/ex parana shields and tossed them all and still get them when farming in giddeus, the drop for these seem to be 100% that and the aspir knife and you can have two as long as one is not on your person. If its at mog house you can still obtain it!ive tossed probably five to six shields and aspir knives and continue to get them. so if u dump a rae/ex you can get some of them again!(not all mind you but ones that drop off nms can be obtained again but it takes some hunting!) cutter 14 DRG/12 PLD/11 SUM/11 RNG/7 BRD/10 WHM/15 BLM/ 15 THF/16 WAR/30 RDM
that is the only lvl 4 headwear and u are throwing it!!??? i can't ever get my hands on it!!! ( can't repeat the quest, got the giant bird feather quest instead)
The Air+1 doesn't do too much, and the DEF:2 is easily out-done. If you like the hat for the look, just buy a Traveler's Hat (Lv. 6, DEF:3 MND+1). I got rid of my Windshear Hat some time ago.
