Farming today I got a key off a Demon Wizard and Demon Pawn.
I just got the key while farming Orcish Zerkers in the Keep. I sent in a correction.
Edited to add that I also just got a drop of this key from an Orcish Warchief in the Keep...

My LS likes to farm in groups here. We have gotten several keys, but this was before I had the quest ><. However, the drop rate is not too bad.
Well you'll hate me then. I went there to farm Kindred Seals and Dark Clusters, and found the chest. So I went after Pawns and Knights to get a key. First fight vs. Knight, got key. Traded it to the chest and obtained a Phalanx Ring. Half hour later came back to same spot... the chest is there AGAIN. So I go off killing pawns, takes about 3 kills before I go back to Knights. First kill again drops the key. This time though I was awarded 9100g. Now I don't have treasure hunter, I was farming as a 69RDM/34WHM, but on both drops the moon was at New Moon phase.
well, apparently my game karma's finally turning good, 'cause i got this off my second demon pawn after entering, before the 4-way intersection...also got 12xp, 40+gil, and a beastmen's seal
the chest, on the other hand....took me the better part of an hour and a half...finally found it deep in the keep itself, back in one of the rooms w/ an orcish zerker

I am looking for the key so I can finish that quest and get 10k ^^
The pawns in the first area are easier, and they only drop beast seals. The ones after the first four way put up a darn good fight, and drop kindred seals. Since illukar said he got one off a wizard I suspect that only those beyond the four way will drop keys. Spent 2 nights there so far with no key :( but have gotten a couple stacks of dark crystals and several 100 xp.

Just spent 3 hours in Castle Zvahl's Bailey (for Test of True Love quest). Got a key drop from both Demon Pawn and from Demon Wizard.
This was at the first four-way intersection. Seems a very rare drop.

Has anyone ever gotten the chest key to drop from the Demon Pawns in the first area before the first 4 way intersection? I've been killing Demon Pawns there for 2 nights now with no key drops.

nope, same problem i had, you have to go further in buddy. :)
