Tanking

I've seen some BRD/NINs tank in these. Enmity+ for some hate while still keeping CHR to try land buffs.

Often times other jobs will act as a tank depending on various circumstances.

DRK/NIN skilling up Sword Skill for Spirits Within for example. Great way to take minimal dmg via nin sub... and the boots help you hold hate without necessarily having voke. I've seen this done before.

+1enmity: however small it is... it's still help

Me personally, I do a lot of tanking as rdm/war and the +1 version of these boots help hold hate a good bit... and it's not like there are much better options for a rdm to pick from as far as enmity gear goes.

Koenig armor for paladins has charisma on it because "Killer traits" activate rate is affected by chr. Since PLD does not have any of those traits on its own, you need equipment or a sub job that gives one, such as that pld shield with Beast Killer, and you need lots of chr to help it activate. Obviously intimidating an hnm would be very very useful, and hnms is what koenig is for.

Umm actually it makes sense... you are probably not a BST yourself but I am. I often wondered why I always got such ridiculous hate when soloing and I was wearing -enimity gear and all I did was hit the mob a tiny nibble when my pet did Death Scissors or something strong. It makes perfect sense now. I dont melee a mob with CHR gear anymore while Im with a pet, I used to be lazy to macro it out but now things seem to go smoother lol. CHR does seem to cause hate, there is no other reason why BST has a ton of enmity while soloing with it's pet.

CHR affects hate decay. The higher your CHR is the slower your hate decay's.

Square Enix has already said in interviews that CHR has nothing at all to do with holding hate. CHR is only useful for bard offensive songs, beastmasters' Charm, and "some weaponskills".

The best PLD armor gives VIT+60 CHR+60. So Square gave that extra CHR for when PLD's wanna sub BRD or BST eh? Wrong. CHR effects how long the amount of hate you have build up, takes to dispand. That way you can build up alot of hate over time.

What ever you heard about Square saying CHR has nothing to do with hate is either wrong or out dated.

There's been tests done on this site etc etc, mysterytour did a test as well.
Both said CHR helps emnity.
Would explain +CHR on PLD AF (?)
But these are just a few insights, I'm not a professional.

For the love of god. This keeps getting debating even when SE has said it has no remote effect on enmity/hate.

CHR boost is given to PLD for WS. Spirits Within along with other WS are directly related to CHR. If you notice when using Spirits Within, you don't do exactly 1/2 your current HP. It's a deal less. CHR helps close in that gap. I've tested that myself with RDM.

Jeebus let it go, SE has said it doesn't, why would they lie about it?

From my understanding the only WS that CHR modifies damage is Dancing Edge and Shadowstitch. As far as CHR goes for holding hate or grabing hate I still have no opinion. I'm not going to go out and equip CHR gear when HP and VIT gear are available. I have heard of CHR effecting the rate that Killer traits intimidate mobs but I wouldn't guarantee that is the modifier if there is any.

These don't seem like great boots for level 74...the stats don't seem all that great. What job class would wear these at that level?

Considering the +3 CHR... I would guess BST or BRD, pending the bonuses of their AF boots.

Enmity +1, that's strange. I agree maybe a BST or BRD might go after these, but Enmity +1? I guess that makes it more for a BST then...BRDs dont want attention.

I've heard that CHR affects Provoke effect, meaning that it could help a PLD... On the other hand, there's better stuff out there.
