I believe a few of you here have had unbelievable luck, because I recently went to duo Nimbus Hippos to get a little XP for my WHM while skilling up divine and trying to farm a feather for the Bison footgear, and we didnt get a drop til our third trip there. Each trip was a 3-6 hour session each, killing 30+ hippos each time.
The drop rate seems incredibly low on Garuda, and what's interesting, is it only sells for 110k in AH. I would have just bought one in the Auction House, but they are very rarely ever on sale.

Wow. I was farming with a group for Mistmelts, and one of these popped up. I lotted 19 lol, someone else lotted 500-some, but I guess she passed it afterwards because she found out it didn't make a mistmelt. I checked the AH price on it afterwards and DAYUM!!! 600k. I can't wait till this sells ^^ A step toward a vermy for me (b^_^)b
If you want information, it was dropped off of a Nimbus Hippogryph, first kill. I must be extremely lucky if the drop is really as bad as I've heard.

my experience with TH2 for a rate of these dropping is 0%

I understand that it being a Riverne site drop its not like people go there to hang out and have fun, but anyone know how often they drop? Price tag is 1.2 mil on Midgard and am thinking I will take my HNMls down there to get me one to get crafted into the Sha'ir Turban... even though its pretty lame compared to some of the Sha'ir pieces, I'd like to have it for show and am not paying 2mil for it lol.

There are two types of these which people commonly mistake. One is Hippogryph feather, which drops from higher level Hippogryphs. The other, is called Hyppogryph tailfeather, very common among the low level Hippogryphs.

If these things drop of standered One how come on Asura they selling for a Mil O_o? Maybe i should get a couple of LS buddies and go camping here for some EZ cash
It's craftable. It's used in the Bison armor recipes, for openers.
Standard Hippogryph's don't drop it; it comes from Cloud, Strato, and Nimbus Hippogryphs.

standard hippos do drop them, i have seen about five dropped in just one run.
i would also really like to know what you do with it. is it craftable??
Any idea what drops this yet? I've farmed countless Hippogryphs to get Mistmelts, yet have never seen one of these.
