Im approaching these in smithing and im wondering if these are good to skill up on? I mean expensive materials yeah but do they sell fast? Quite a few people on my server have sea acess so is it a good idea?
Bottom line, Iyo scales are good to skill up on, but you won't find buyers. 5 single ones sold on my server and the first was me selling to myself to try and set the stage. That's since the time they were able to be crafted months ago. I have 2.5 stacks that have NEVER sold. If I had known, I never would have wasted my darksteel sheets. I might be able to desynth them later.
It is used in combination with Limbus items from {Sea} to create the mind blowingly good Myochin Domaru+1.
The original Myochin Domaru, found in an old coffer in The Temple of Uggalepih is very old and worn out. The stats on the original give only a noticeable Vitality boost and slight gain. Yet, when the Domaru is fixed up, polished brightly and restored it is a formidable piece of armored gear. Can you say Accuracy+12?
Myochin Domaru+1:
Accuracy+12 STR+6 VIT+6 Boosts Gain when Attacked Def: 50 HP+10
That's a nice story, but unfortunately it has nothing to do with this item. The Iyo Scale is used in the upgrade of AF2 armor, not AF1 armor. AF+1 armor, Myochin +1, comes from sea. This scale is used to upgrade the Saotome relic armor, that you get in dynamis. To do it, you need the original piece of AF2 from the normal dynamis zones, the -1 version from the new zones, some ancient currency (byne bills etc), and a crafted item (in this case, the iyo scale).
Description for it is something like: A Lightweight scale used to make armors from the far east. And correct me if Im wrong, but far eastern armor as in sam/nin/mnk armor?
