Speak with Michea in the Bastok Market at F-10, She will ask you to create a copper ingot for her.
You can either buy one at the Auction House or synthesize one yourself using a fire crystal (dropped off creatures outside in Gustaberg and 4 copper ores).
The latter part takes patience and practice so if you do not have that I suggest just buying one from the Auction House.
Return the Copper Ingot to her and receive your reward of 180 Gil.

In between trades, you MUST ZONE before you recieve the quest again.
That's all. Just zone into Gustaberg then come back and do it again. Similar to the sardine quest in Windy. Otherwise, it builds fame fairly fast. :)

So it's not as repeatable as Zeruhn Soot or some of the others, but it doesn't cost as much either, especially if you are in the goldsmith guild.

to synthesize, do i have to be a member of guild?
You are using the wrong crystal or
You are not a member of the Goldsmithing Guild.
If you are synthing and it fails, then that's normal. But since it's a LVL 3 synth and you haven't done Goldsmithing, then you shouldn't see too many breakages.
The reward scales up appropriately.
1x chunk of copper ore
6x copper nuggets
1x fire crystal
Where do copper nuggets come from, and does the recipe listed here work?
It didn't surprise me when I saw different recipes for the same item... it makes sense.
Note that you can get different recipes if you talk to the same people repeatedly... they'll give you recipes that you have a reasonable chance of succeeding at.
