Summary

You are to escort Cannau to her desired destination within the Eldieme Necropolis.

Walkthrough

Note: This is an escort quest. You can only have one escort quest active at a time. Other escort quests include Escort For Hire:San d'Oria, Escort For Hire:Bastok, Escort For Hire:Windurst, All By Myself and The Big One.

You can only undertake a specific escort quest once per conquest tally.

Start the quest by talking to Rondipur in Northern San d'Oria. When you zone into the Eldieme Necropolis from Batallia Downs at (I-10), you will get a cut scene. Note: only the first person who has the quest and zones into the dungeon will get the cutscene.

After the cut scene, make sure your entire party is in the zone before talking to Cannau again. Once everyone is inside, speak to the NPC again. You will have 30 minutes to finish from this point.

When you talk to Cannau, she will immediately bolt away and start towards her destination with no thought for aggro at all. To stop her, simply talk to her. She will reply "Why have we stopped?" This way you can safely fight mobs with her out of aggro and AoE range. To start her forward again, talk to her once more.

Keep in mind that if her HP gets low (in the yellow) she will draw hate from the undead mobs. You can cure her if she takes damage. She will wind her way to the switch at (H-8) to open the doors. Keep in mind that there is a bomb in this room, and Self-Destruct will kill her. Keep her out of harm's way while fighting these and other mobs with AoE (such as Revenants).

After throwing the switch, she will go one of the two ways that you can continue on to the west (the ultimate goal is the room at (F-8)). The mobs will start getting harder back here (Fallen Knights, etc.).

Once she gets to the western wall of the room at (F-8), she will stop. Talking to her will get you the key item "Completion Certificate." Go back to Rondipur in Northern San d'Oria to receive your Page from Miratete's Memoires.

Some notes: You can only complete this quest once per Conquest Tally. You will only receive the 10k gil the first time you complete this quest.

Bullsh*t! Bullsh*t!

I don't have any of the escort quests active or any of the other ones mentioned and I Have this npc running ahead of me every single time I zone into eldieme, no matter the entrance. She stays for about 30 seconds and then says something like "Goodbye now <my character name here>!", something like that.

I've checked and re-checked to see if I had ANY of these quests active and I don't, haven't even flagged them, not even close.

Buggy as hell.

I think Spice Gals is another quest that won't let you start this quest up.

Its quite obvious if you cant get the escort quest then.... you guessed it only 1 escort per week.

Can you do all escorts in 1 conquest tally or just one? I know you can only have one active at a time. I just finished the bastok one and got the exp, but I can't seem to activate this one. Please inform.

EDIT: I have max fame, rank 10 from Sandy. Not sure if that has any weight. It wouldn't if you can only do 1 of the 3 escorts per week.

EDITx2: I'm guessing you can only do one escort quest per week. Not each one once a week. However, nowhere on these forums does it say anything about this. Only says you can't do THIS one twice in a week.

If u want more xp scrolls, go on a chocobo run quest in one of the city's chocobo stables. Check starting times at www.mithrapride.org. I would suggest u first do a testrun to see if u can make it in time. I find Sandy - Basty the easiest with mediocre HDD. Sandy - Windy = best xp and doable with decent HDD.

Okay. Here's the deal. Spent hours getting fame for the Bastok Escort. Flagged it without a problem after getting level 6 fame, completed the mission without a hitch, got my reward, all that fun stuff. Came to Sandy talked to the NPC and -nada-.

I'm level 74. I have done 42 quests in Sandy, I have level 10 fame. I don't have ANY other escorts flagged. Why in the name of god can I not flag this.

Eldieme Escort

We decided to do Eldieme Necropolis escort quest last night. We learned a few things.

1) The escortee doesn't like to stop. You have to be close to her and she has to be on your view screen if you're going to stop her.

2) Do not, repeat DO NOT going into Eldieme Necropolis without a WHM or at least a WHM sub. Having multiple healers would be beneficial, as the second someone goes into yellow, you may have serious complications.

3) If you are full health while Cursed, then get Cursna, you may suddenly be in the yellow. Therefore, Cursna CAN kill you (albeit indirectly).

Bottom line is that the Eldieme Necropolis escort quest is about ten times harder than the Crawler's Nest one and about five times harder than Garlaige Citadel. I don't plan on doing this one again if I can avoid it.

Errrr...Garlaige Citadel is so much tougher than the Eldeime/Crawler's nest ones it's not even funny; one path taken requires 4 people to open the gate, the other requires you to go past dozens of agro/linking bats, beetles, weapons, and Tainted Meat.

Crawler's Nest is relatively the easiest, because on one path, people exp off of almost all the mobs that'd agro the NPC, and the second path has mobs that agro but are really low level compared to the other path(Mushussu at worst)

Eldieme is probably the easiest - If you're low enough level to get HP agro, you shouldn't be here ANYWAYS, unless there's some people that can make quick work of links. Of the two paths the NPC can take, both are exactly the same (no easy/hard way), only real threat is someone messing with the doors as you go along. Everything here is weak to fire, skels go down fast to club/h2h hits, so there's nothing proving a serious threat unless your party is simply too low to attempt Escort in the first place.

Just my opinion, though
If u cant get quest
# Apr 08 2005 at 10:06 AM Rating: Decent
If u cant get the quests, another possibility is that u might have to complete certain quests before hand. I know a lot of ppl who spent 500k on buying rabbit hides and just kept handing them in to npc to have their hero fame. Make sure u have an abundant of quests completed then try asking him again. Thats all i can think of, u gotta complete a quest first which triggers it.
Here's a guide for you all.

Well, I decided to try this out, and I figure if half of you were as clueless as me reading the description, it was time to post something. Here's what I learned:

Make sure you talk to the NPC in North San d'Oria to flag the quest. When you zone into Eldieme Necropolis from Battallia Downs at (I-10), you will get a cutscene. After the cutscene, talk to her again to begin the quest. You will have 30 minutes to finish from this point.

Now, to the most important part of this quest. When you talk to the NPC, she will immediately bolt away and start towards her destination with no thought for aggro at all. To stop her, simply talk to her. She will reply "Why have we stopped?" This way you can safely fight mobs with her out of aggro and AoE range. To start her forward again, talk to her once more.

Keep in mind that if her HP gets low (in the yellow) she will draw hate from the undead. You can cure her if she takes damage. She will wind her way to the switch at (H-8) to open the doors. Keep in mind that there is a bomb in this room, and Self-Destruct will kill her. Keep her out of harms way while fighting these and other mobs with AoE (such as Revenants).

After throwing the switch, she will go one of the two ways that you can continue on to the west (the ultimate goal is the room at (F-8)). The mobs will start getting harder back here (Fallen Knights and the like).

Once she gets to the western wall of the room at (F-8), she will stop. Talking to her will get you a key item "Certificate of Completion." Go back to the starting NPC in San d'Oria to receive your page from Miratete's Memoires. Although I can't say for certainty how much experience you will get, I know the max is 2000 and you typically get around 1000.

Some notes: You can only complete this quest once per Conquest Tally. You will only receive the 10k gil the first time you complete this quest. MNK's definitely make life easy if you are going to attempt this. I duo'd it with a 68 MNK (I'm a 72 WHM at this writing).

Maybe you have another escort started, you have to finish the other escorts before you can accomplish another one...
but when you do that, you can start on another one...
and thats for my 2 cents...
And i tryed to do this.... with my self as a 63 whm, i ran out of MP quite fast, and didnt finish, ran outta time >.>( bring monk and people with staffs they do ALOT )

This quest was awesome, kinda tough becuase we still didn't complete it yet. It would be really hard to do solo since she gets aggro from everything. Even from a distance.

In the party was me, 60 something war, 59 Drg, 50's mnk and a 50's whm. We got her all the way to the dark stalkers in the back area when we ran out of time. You really have to kill quickly or clear the path to keep her moving.

We had cleared sections of the path ahead to make things alot easier. But you have to keep up with her. If the path is clear she keeps on running. If you are ahead of her and you stop to fight, she stops too. Everyone is saying go with 65+ to make it easy. Well I went with friends and we had a laugh doing. Even got the whm his WHM AF bell at the same time....lol

Not only can you not accept another escort quest from Bastok or Windurst, you cannot have "The Big One" in Tavnazian Safehold or "All by Myself" in Bastok active in order to get this quest. Both of these quests are removal simply by talking to the person who gave you the quest. (This is actually true for all five escort quests)

I have a few questions on these quests:

1. Can you cast spells such as Sneak or Invisible on the NPC?
2. I am a SMN, if I use Earthen Ward (party stoneskin) or Aerial Armor (party blink) will these affect the NPC?
3. Can you heal the NPC using Cure spells?
4. Anyone know appoximately how many HP the NPC has? People keep posting that she's the same as the lowest lvl in the party, however someone else posted that one AoE will take her out. That doesn't sound right if she's the same lvl as those in the party, sounds like she's much lower level.

1. no, sneak/invis will not work, I've tried it.
2. no, those spells are for party members only, note even alliance members get it.. so the npc is out of luck
3. Luckily, yes, she can be healed.
4. Wild guess here, she goes down too damned quick to know for sure, but I'd say around 1000

I'm a WHM lvl 58, so I have cured her, but that's about all I was able to do before she died and I ran for the zone ^^;

WTF? Talk to the dude with proper fame haveing not done one and you go right?

I believe these are like the Eco-Warrior quests, where you can only have one active at the same time. I know that I have full fame in all the home cities, and can't get the Bastok quest... try completing (or deactivating, if possible) any other Escort quests you have activated in order to get this.
Of course, I could be wrong...

It's not true that the NPC is the lowest level in PT.

We were DRK 63 x2 and WHM around 70 and we went there to try it.
So, NPC got aggro from mobs we all saw WW and got to kill them all the time ; ;
She's not my level.

The NPC's level is based on the Lowest level person in the pty.

This cannot be true. I am L65 and I don't get any aggro in the whole area near where the NPC is. I was alone, picked her up, she got aggro'd and demolished in the first room. These things stopped aggro'ing me 5-10 levels ago.

Last Night in eldieme necropolis me(60pld), a 62 pld and a 60 ninja tried this just to see how it would go. You can control the npc as far as when to stop and go. You cant make her back up though. Any small little AOE attack or hit will kill her. Seems you just need to keep the path cleared in front of her. Make sure the person doing this quest stays close to make her stop. this is done by talking to her.
We where doing pretty well the first time untill the azer did self destruct and wiped her out from a distance. On the second we left her back just a bit farther and killed the azer . She made a loop around the gravestone and headed back west. Well the problem here was we were all cursed and she was out running us. The second she went through a gate someone hit the switch and cut us off from our npc<lol>.
So if you try this in eldieme make sure to bring a whm along to remove the curse. Staying close to the npc to stop her is very important

Everything in eldime is sence by sound (the bombs are the only exception). But if you cannot walk arount hte upper level of the I-10 entrance without sneak on then you wil lneed to fight all the mobs that are in the way as you canot heal or sneak canneau as she well be the same level as the lowest person in the party.
