Summary

Alcander and Ahaadah want you to help Tinga-Matonga become a respectable citizen.

Walkthrough

Recommended level and party: 6 level 60+ or 3 level 75.

Talk to Ahaadah at the Philosopher's Alley in Aht Urhgan Whitegate to begin this quest.

After this go to (I-11) in Port Al Zahbi (Southern Port). Under the half shack roof you will get another cutscene.

A third cutscene is right on the path above the shack, at (I-12) at the end of the path.

After this, you are sent to find Alcander in Bhaflau Thickets. He is found at (I-8) by clicking on the ???. After another cutscene, a NM Plague Chigoe pops. It's a MNK type mob and hits hard and fast. Kill the NM and check the ??? again.

Return to Ahaadah back in town to receive your reward.

Glee... this NM screams RDM tankage ;)

Edit: killed it as 75 RDM/BLM, although I had to Sleep+Convert it. Sleep-nuking might be better (and faster) then trying to melee it.

The additional effect: Aspir drained 7 MP on every hit. Didn't have any trouble landing debuffs like gravity, bind or sleep.

PLD or a pet of some kind is best tank here. My party was a 61 WHM, 70 SMN, and 67 THF (me). We planned on letting the avatar tank, but I pulled hate while the WHM was in the middle of casting Paralyze or something, and bam, dead of multiple crits. Short of Flash, Stun, or Sleep, there is no way to recast Utsusemi while this thing is hitting you. It just hits way too fast.

Ive killed this guy 2x now, once solo as 74pld/rdm and once duo with a 73sam/thf.
Solo:
With Phalanx, Stoneskin, En-spell, Blaze spikes I soloed him down. He was hitting me for 0 90% of the time with phalanx and shield procs kicking in. That other 10% adds up when he hits you 3 times a second though, lol. Just buff BEFORE the cutscene if you are tanking. His mp drain puts a huge hole in your mp tank and it wont last but 30 seconds (i had ~400mp to begin with, all gone in [Short time]). Honestly though, the blaze spikes is what killed him. 8 dmg to himself every time he hit. He still got me down to ~400 hp and no mp (herc ring effects werent gonna keep me alive much longer either ;) )
Duo:
All I can say is have the tank voke or get hate FAST. In the 15 seconds my friend (73sam/thf) had hate (since he popped) he was down to 300 hp or so. If you're gonna straight tank him make sure to have some healing of sorts if you don't have -dmg spells.

As a side note, nin tank wouldnt stand a chance. Though my pld eva is [Too weak], I dont think I evaded once during the entire fight (~300 hits maybe, the dmg taken filled my ENTIRE chat log). So an evasion setup is probably not gonna work. I see a nin tank attempt (without a healer of course) going like this:
*By the time katanas are out and engaged, Utsu ni is gone
*By the time you hit your next shadow macro, your @ 50% health
*By the time you lift your finger from the keyboard your next shadows are interrupted or gone.
*By the time you scroll down to "Call for help" your dead.

Pay attention to details >< ....

I fought this thing solo and won with MNK75/WAR37 but forgot to get cutscene after the fight. Don't forget that part! Especially if you solo it since there is no one to remind you.

I don't know if this is why any confusion has been cause in earlier posts, but this quest is in Whitegate, not Al Zahbi, although we all basically know Whitegate is part of Al Zahbi. The first CS is by talking to Ahaada at G-6, second one you get by walking to those two barrels in the corner at I-11, right by the boat. The last CS before the NM fight is directly above where the 2nd one is, at I-12. You have to walk around and up the stairs to get there, but once you do, you just walk towards the end and the CS will start, since that is where the CS takes place.

I did the NM fight with about 5 people. We didn't need that much, but I wanted to take whoever needed the Caedarva Mire map. It was a NIN, SAM, RNG, MNK and me (WHM). We beat it in about 60 seconds :)... Just to clarify an error noted here, after beating the mob, you click on the ???, you get the CS with Alcander and the taru and he gives you the map right then and there. You do not go back to Ahaadah to get anything. The quest is done.

Also, as some people are saying, yes he does do Hundred Fists right away so it's best to have more people to beat him faster, it may be a little too tough for one person to tank alone. Or, maybe a 2nd healer would do the trick.
Too weak =P

The NM is fairly easy, I suggest taking the exit from whitegate as it leads straight to thie ??? and only ever get Fomor in the way at night.

Anyways, WHM/NIN(me), MNK/NIN and PLD/WAR was set-up. It hurt a bit, but really, it beating down on the PLD not very hard, fast but not hard =P. Aspir 3 MP a hit a bit annoying but meh, didn't matter. This thing lost health fast. So altho it hits quite fast, it lacks any form of defence what so ever.

3 75s should own this NM no problem =P.

I soloed this thing as 74RDM/BLU woulda been easier with BLM sub but I was just passing through and decided to try it. I popped and slept it, gravity, bind, and nuked. Slept right after, rested a distance away, and when it woke up it'd slowly hop towards me and i could stand and sleep it. Took about 20 minutes this way nuking with Blizzard III. I brought it down the fomor path so if you were going to do it this way it'd be best to do it right as day (4) begins. I converted when I could and chainspelled the end to speed things up.
Bst ftw
# May 25 2006 at 7:44 AM Rating: Decent
I did this one solo with my 70bst. Took about 5pets and boy does his guy hit fast hundred fists on steroids. Good thing he takes damage just as easy like other Chigoe types. Pets in area were all decent challenge so could be done by a little lower lv bst just kinda scary when comes for you.

Stoneskin and blink go down in like 2-3secs so bring along a tank if you cant dish out some damage fast. Each hit will steal your mp so be warned mages.

I just soloed him as RDM75/BLU20. Buffed up with prot/shell/ss/cocoon/phalanx/aquaviel/ice spikes and one taco for some extra defense (about 680 def total). Straight up tanked the pesky little guy. Overall he wasn't hitting for much, took him about 60% of his health to finally beat through my SS. Biggest issue was this SOB aspirs off about 6 MP per hit. Even with 4 MP/tick regen, that's a steady drain on MP. He dragged me down to 0 MP by about his 20% mark, so I'd recommend restoring your buffs at about the 150 MP mark or so rather than wait their durations out as you won't have MP then anyway. This guy also tosses on plague which saps TP and MP as well, so don't count on WS.
It's accurate
# May 19 2006 at 11:53 PM Rating: Decent
It is accurate. It just doesn't tell you enough about the port part. Most people would be looking for the npcs. I did. ^^;
Maybe I can help clarify a bit?

In Whitegate go south to Port Al Zahbi. At I-11 there are two barrels under a wooden roof (right by the ramp). There is nothing here to tell you it's part of a quest. It just looks like two barrels under a wooden roof on a dock. >.>;
Just go stand near the barrels and you will trigger a cutscene. Seriously, just walk around it until you can't move and a cs happens.
After this you need to go to the second level of Port Al Zahbi. At I-12 (the little bridge area above the water barrels) there is another invisible trigger for a cut scene.
I hope that helps a little bit. :)

I was able to solo the NM as a BLM/RDM. Fully buff beforehand with Blink (not that it really matters), Stoneskin+Phalanx, Ice Spikes, Aquaveil, Protect/Shell.

Pop it, and immediately Gravity and run away to maximum casting range. Thunder IV alternated with Blizzard IV for nukes. Bind worked poorly wearing off early, but Gravity stuck the whole time. I ES+Sleep II'd it to rest back 200MP and finish it off. In the future, I'd bring a Yag Drink with me to make it easier.

It has approximately 5k HP. My nukes were doing just below 1k damage, a little over once Uggy Pendant activated.

Was very easy. 3 Predator Claws raped it. A Garuda died though. But oh well was easy.
NM fight
# May 04 2006 at 1:01 PM Rating: Default
However you do this NM fight, you need a really good tank (75 PLD is best for it). Without a good tank, it's a hard battle. The NM wipes up mages easily, stoneskin is almost useless.
You can also alliance this NM so up to 18 people can do the quest together.

I was able to solo this as RDM75/BLM37 by DOTing him to death. Make sure you start when Fomors aren't out though. They'll be in your way if they are. You need to bind him off the bat and get away from his attack range. Then just keep Bio/Poison/and 3 elemental debufs on him. Drag him back to the tower behind his spawn point and keep gravity & bind on him while keeping blink & stoneskin on you and just keep circling the tower until he dies. Took about 10-15 minutes for him to die off. I never had one cast resisted. And it didn't look like he gained resistance at all. Pretty easy really.
Yeah

Soloed this on my Pld at 74, subbed war,I did need to use invincble, this thing drains your mp when it hits you so use as much of MP as you can at the start. It was a VERY close fight, in fact I wouldnt try to do it alone again.(I got pretty lucky Shield block went off 50% of the time.)

Duo'ed the NM with my WHM friend on my PLD.

Easy fight, refresh is useless for this fight en-aspir is too fast for refresh but with full mp at start I could get a few cures on myself.

Fun fight.

This thing hits like it's got Hundred Fists, and each hit Aspirs the target...Ninja cannot hold this thing, and a solo PLD is going to have problems.

Also, unlike "normal" chiggers, this one is -not- vulnerable to "one-hit" kill moves, like JA's, WS's and Crits, you have to kill it honestly.

Oh, and you don't need the pre-spawn cutscene, so long as you have the quest active to that point, and someone in your party (who also is at that point) pops the bug...make sure to examine -afterwards- and get the "second" cutscene, and your map.
