Vana'diel Bestiary: Plague Chigoe

Duoed this a little while ago. PLD75/WAR37 & I (RDM60/WHM30) took this guy easily despite my forgetting that we hadn't buffed or eaten food before I clicked the ??? (/blush). His aspir was a pain for PLD and made it so that there was no point in my keeping him Refreshed because he always lost his mp right away. Oh and this chigoe guy hits very fast too. So I stood back to heal, debuff, and nuke while my amoureaux, the PLD, wailed on it and kept hate. Super-easy even with late buffs, and I didn't need to Convert. Neither of us went into the red or orange; only in the yellow. So yeah, not a very difficult fight.
just soloed this as 75pld/rdm did a totle of 31 dmg to me the entire fight

Just duoed this with a MNK friend. He was basically there and took a massive beating while I Sidewindered + EESed him. He managed to survive with 56HP lol, man this bugger hits FAST!

blaze spikes pwns!
all you need is decent defense gear and all your rdm buffs and this guy is toast.
a tasy taz taco doesnt hurt either but you welcomed to try it with out one.

I was determined to solo this NM as 75DRG. Oddly enough DRG/WHM wasn't an option, I died. I tried DRG/NIN full evasion gear, still didn't work. So I decided that killing it faster than it kills me was the only option. Meditated 100% TP, waited for the timer to reset, popped it. Angon, Penta Thrust for 1500+. Meditate, Jump, High Jump. Penta Thrust for about 1500 Again. Spirit Surged, Jump, High Jump and Finished with a Penta Thrust. Walked away with 640/1350HP.

As Pld/rdm have blaze spikes up to increase the amount of damage to the nm.

Just solo this as a PLD/RDM it was kind of easy due to Shield mastery and he attacks rapidly so I got tp like crazy so if you a PLD 75 with capped shield you can solo this NM very easily.
P.S am tire of people saying: Just solo this as a RDM/NIN

Just Duoed this DRG/BLU and a WHM/SMN... i went expecting to get destroyed, but cocoon worked wonders... all you need for this fight is a melee to kill it FAST and a white mage to spam cures.

You can one shot chigoes with any quick bash ability, the drawback is that you squash the mob in a sense and do not recieve any experience points for it. I'm not sure if it's possible on the NM though.

Summoned Carbuncle then popped NM, let Chigoe beat on him while I ran away, Carby died fairly quickly then summoned Garuda. Three Predator Claws from ~7 summoned Garudas and he was down. One of them was weak, though, so I'd imagine it would only take two 1000+ Predator Claws.
I did Astral Flow, but I don't even think it was necessary.

Does anyone have an estimate on how much HP this ******* has?
Just soloed him as a 74Rdm/Blm -- Fairly easy. Took about 4 or 5 rounds of bind/gravity/fire 3/blizzard 3/sleep. Had to convert once when I ran out of mp (damn elvaan mp). Word to the wise -- keep SS up at all times and watch out for a virus attack it has. It hit me for a few times when SS was down and gave me a nasty virus. Not sure if viruna can get rid of it because I did not have it as a rdm/blm. It wore off after about 2 to 3 mins but it was scary for awhile there having no mp replenishment (even with refresh on). Other than that it was a pretty easy sleep/nuke fight. Gravity never once failed, but the chigoe did start getting a gravity resistance after a bit and the spell started wearing faster and faster, so make sure you kill it fast.
The only job I know that can one shot them is Dragoon with jump. Never heard about bash abilities doing anything.

I'm not sure if this is true for this NM but with the Chigoe's in Caedarva Mire (and I assume all other Chigoe's) Shield Bash, Weapon Bash, and any damage dealing WS will kill these things instantly.

um.. if that were true.. pld sam(now after update) and drk would b seen 1 hitting em with there bash moves

I got a 75mnk friend to come help me. I'm 75pld. Buffed up healed mp then went in. Hundred Fists + cover.....flee lasted about 30 seconds.

Killed it today as 71 rdm/blm. If you can keep it away from you is not that hard. He never resisted one sleep (with dark staff and enfeebling capped) and gravity sticks well.
Used Fire III that landed for 482 everytime (with fire staff) except one resist for half damage. It was down after 9-10 nukes.
Used stoneskin, phalanx and blink. I used shock spikes but i dunno if stun kicked once (maybe blaze would be better) but they did about 100 damage overall.
I tried before with the help of a 70+ thf but we died when it had less than 1% left. I don't recommend meleeing (unless you have a good pally, i think).

BST/NIN has absolutely no problem at all putting this annoying bug down. 2 or 3 pet swaps and some popcorn and you got yourself a new map.
i dont know, I had him to 10% as RDM/BLM doing sleep nuke before I forgot to recast SS and he just made it impossible for me to catch up.
I would think a RDM/BLM or BLM/RDM doing sleep nuke can solo him w/o issue.

It IS possible to solo this little flea.
I went as rdm(75)/blu(20) and applied the usaul buffs: SS, Phalanx, P/S4, ice spikes, aquaveil, enaero (was windsday) etc etc. Then i also applied cocoon to up my defense some more (was experimenting didnt know if it would work).
Along with refresh and the 1mp/tick from the guard I had a drain of 3 each hit. Most of the time it was paralyzed though. It didnt punch through my stoneskin, but i applied a new one when my MP hit 100 (slept chigoe rebuff convert cure4 x2) just to make sure (chig @ 20% by then)
I had the following equip: joyeuse, genbu's shield, lightning bow/kabura arrows, Optical hat, Scorp Harness, crimson hands, rajas ring, grace ring, dodge earring x2, warlocks boots +1, duelist tights (which helps greatly with spikes), warchief belt (or whatever is called +5str/dex/vit +3emn), amemet mantle.
I used the following debuffs: blind, gravity, slow (not noticable) and ice sp1ikes paralyze. Damn thing hit a lot when not paralyzed, i think it has a A+ in acc.

He CAN steal full mp at times, and from what i've seen hits faster than Hundred-Fists
Do not solo even if you are 75 and full merits.
This guy's location is at (I-8) in Blafua Thickets(sp?)
Bring a WHM, Tank of some sort, and 2 DD's all level 75 if you want to kill him fast and painlessly. Keep the WHM on top of the tank to cure him slowly and surely. He hits rapid fire succession like 100 fists, but does little damage. A PLD can not rely at all on his own mp. This guy sucks it up.
If you are in your low 60's I'd bring a 12 person alliance just to be safe.

Suppose its worth mentioning that Ive seen plague chigoe attacks steal mp but only at like 8mp a hit (still he hits fast)
