SummaryElki wants you to find information regarding the identity of the eleventh Palborough Pioneer. You might be able to find some hints in the mines themselves. In-Game TextDescriptionYou must first do the bouquet quest. Elki wants to find out about The Eleventh Palborough Pioneer. She asks you to go to the mines and seek hints. On the third level of the mines, there is a toolbox. Click on the toolbox and you will discover the clue you are looking for. Return to Elki with the information you learned, and then visit Babenn in the eastmost house on the upper-north side of the street to get the reward. Elki is a guy, and Babenn is on the second to last house on the street. just figured it would be better to have the right info on the guide.

The recommended level I would say for the bouquet quest would be somewhere between 12-15. All you have to do is go on top of the hill in North Gustaberg (not South) and click on the monument there. Of course, you have to start the quest at Elki, who is in the Bat's Lair in. Upon returning from placing the bouquet, he gives you a pair of Sitabaki, which you can either sell or use for one of the 3 jobs it can be usd for(MNK, SAM, and NIN i think). After you do that, you need to get lvl 2 fame, and you can get this quest. It's not very rewarding, and I would suggest you do it at around lvl 34-35 because the Quadav in the area won't aggro you anymore. Hope that helps you a little.
Ok just thought i would add my 2cents lol.You have to do the other quest first or it wont matter how much fame you have you wont get this one.Second once you have done the flower quest zone out and in again and like another post said depending if your doing the quest for fame gil or story will depend if you want to go around and talk to the other galak or not.And last about the agro from the gate quad i was there with a friend helping me and we decided to fight them as he was high lv i had no worries of the train but to my surprise it didnt go the long way in fact it came through the gate like it was the terminator or something lol.I just wondered have se changed it where it will not go the long way now?.We tested this out 4 times it did the same thing seems odd if it was just a clitch any info plz.
And just on a last note good luck anyone doing this not very hard just a bit long winded lol.

Posted: Aug 20 2004 at 5:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Just wanted to throw in my stroy goin back tonight to seek revenge on the qudav punks. i got this quest at lvl 18 with only 7 other quest done if that helps anyone else. found the tool box on the 3rd lvl. turned around walked twards the door to leave and out of nowhere that darn ******* pack of qudav came out of nowhere i had no chance and got **** kicked out of me soooooo bad. they left and 2 humes came around the corrner they said they saw nothin hows that possible lol. any ways a word of advice if u go on this quest be very very quite ur goin to die before u leave with the toolbox. i callin for LS help tonight with alot of high lvl AOE and gettin my revenge.
i did somethin like that to the Wendigos of the Horutoto ruins....mwahahahahah shows them for killin me at lvl 15 XD

Is the toolbox in that area that has a real floor and hallways and stuff? cause i cant find it anywhere
It's on the top floor, take the elevator up (I-8 first floor)

just to let everyone know what the stats for the sword are incase your not too sure u want to do the quest here they r:

there ya go. also, it sells for 1-2k gil at the bastok market on the Bismark server for those that r doing it for fame and could care less about the sword itself like me.

First off, Elki is a he, not a she :P Also, I'm not sure if you need to do this to find out or not, But I talked to other galka in the Mines district, and some of them had some things to say, like Pavvke and Parraggoh, who are involved in other quests related to Palborough. Makes sense, doesn't it? :P So if you're interested in story, and not just getting fame for Titan, etc., talk to some of the other residents after receiving this quest and see if they say anything. ^^
plz change, u need to be lvl 30 to obtain this quest
I got the quest with my mule, a lvl 8 mnk. After just doing the Zeruhn Sweeper and Treant Bulb quest repeatedly. Like Jarinarenos said, its level 2 fame.
I got the quest at level 13. Fame level 2 is the only requirement.
I'm lvl 20 an I have it. I think that fame and doing the previous quest are the only requirements.

I did not have this quest, do now. But I did go to hunt there to help another, and being 24 level red i wrongly thought i not get killed. A easy or two in front of gate .. and seem i was getting hit too hard .. looked around and about 20 Quadav was telling me hi .. and please die for them .. and since they asked so nice .. haha .. i did

How much fame do you need? I've been doing every quest I can do in Bastok, even that Galkan Sausage one where you have to sit by a fire for an hour, and I still don't have enough for this.

Ok I've found the area that the old toolbox is in but I can't figure out how to get to the blasted thing as the gate is closed. Can anyone help me out with that?

if you have the map just look at where you are, you have to take the long way around. if looking at the gate, turn right go forward, turn right and go down the hall, turn left when you can and turn left.

MENTAL NOTE: BE CAREFULE WHEN BY THE GATE!!! If a Quadav gets pissed at you, he will find you. Oh yes. He will find you. In fact, he will take the long way around to go and get you, and when he does, he will tell EVERY FRIEND HE HAS. And each friend will tell 2 friends, and they'll each tell 2 friends....
One night, I was with an alliance of 17 in the Palborough Mines, and despite multiple warnings, somebody walked in front of the gate and gave a Quadav a mean stare. The Quadav instantly recruited all of his friends to destroy us. The next thing we knew, about 12-16 Quadav's lumbered into the room and started hacking at everyone they saw. We had about 3 or 4 people slaughtered and the rest of us were in critical condition. I think some people had 3 hp left after that fight. BEWARE THE GATE!!!

LOL!!!! The same thing happend to me almost!!! I was wondering around, and i saw a quadav on the other side, so just for kicks, i shot it with an arrow just because it couldnt hit me back! Boy, was i wrong. I forgot about him, and i went wondering around, and i found the NM in that area, so i kill it, and things were easy, then, all of a sudden, out of no where, the room is flooded with quadav!!! There this huge battle and it goes down to me and one quadav, i have 50hp (outta 600) left and the quadave has full, it goes down to where there was 1 hit to kill for each of us.....and i lost!!!! grrr!!!

the Old Toolbox is located around where H-8 and H-7 meet.

To complete this quest after returning to Elki, talk to Babenn who is in the east-most house of the north-upper side of the street.

ok im confused. i examined the box got the key item left on the boat back to bastok mines went to elki talked to him, but the quest doesnt show as complete? is there more? did i do something wrong? was there a boss to fight?

babenn is j-6, in the back of the house. Same level of Bastok Mines District as Elki, but in a house to the west.

Ok I did the hearts of mithril quest but I can't get the quest for the short sword, i tried zoning but still can't get it... im lvl 20 if that has anything to do with it..
You can find Babenn (sp?) in a house in the Galka area of the Bastok Mines district.

Reward is definitely a small sword. Don't recall exact stats offhand but it was lvl 19 with damage/delay only slightly better than a lvl 13 scimitar but +2 or 3 dexterity bonus. I suppose it might make an ok thief/ninja offhand, but I would certainly say this isn't a quest to be done for the reward.
Also beware the notorious named Quadav that sometimes spawns in or near the toolbox room. Wiped out an unprepared group doing this quest.

I went to find the tool box but the openings to the room had the gates closed.
after you come back with the toolbox you are sent to talk to Babenn.. I can't find him anywhere.
