I sooo wish this was a little closer to me. I would definetly love to go, (if only they had it at the convention center in LA ; ; ) I think this a great idea and I really wish SE would make more events like this for players to meet with eachother throughout the year. It makes for a great opportunity as well to have a central location where players can share their experiences they've had in game and meet up with members from their linkshells.

I would love it if SE would sponsor more events such as this. I think its a great idea and that there would be a big turnout.
Distance it seems is the main factor for many; so they should try to have at multiple locations if possible. Great idea though SE. Keep up the good work. =)

When I read about a SE Halloween Party for FFXI, I got so EXCITED! I had hoped there would be some sort of gathering so I can meet all of my friends that I had adventured with for a year now. But then I saw that the event was in the West Coast, and Im all the way on the East Coast in New Jersey.

/sigh

Location, location, location ... or if anything, multiple events. Those who would fly out to such distances can attend both events, while people who can't travel too far can attend the closer event.

And damn ... I wanted to whip out the Galka makeup and Red Mage Warlock armor too (in the process of becoming Duelist armor ^.^b).Next year!!!! OR maybe ... New Years???

Break in 2005 with FFXI? Im down with that.

As is the case with a lot of people here, I can't go to the masquerade because it's too far away. I'm in Calgary, Alberta, so going to San Francisco for the weekend it a bit out of my range. If the party was on a Saturday it might be more doable.

I live in Los Angeles, and might go.. am considering it.. but right now.. there isnt a big MUST go feeling for me.. IE.. rare collectables/prizes .. I definately would not dress up in costume if I went (just not my bag baby) .. so costume prize would be outta the question... sneak peak at future square titles would be nice.. but it is such a vague reference.. more specifics would be nice.. $10 cover is not bad.. although I would gladly pay more if it was open bar! hehe.

Anyway.. I guess what it comes down to is.. I want Final Fantasy goodies. .. trick or treat!

I would love to go, but living in DC and NYC it isn't going to happen. If something were put together on the East Coast, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

I think general consensus is that many of us would go were it closer. I live in Bakersfield, CA myself and would be there in a flash were it not an 8 hour drive away.

If enough turn up to the event to make it worthwhile, perhaps hold several at various locations around the country?

Dear SE,

I would love to attend one of your wonderful events, but like all foolish video game companies you feel that unless you live on the West Coast you are not worth having to an event.

Yes I know this might sound harsh, but I for one am tired of the two sided events that SE throws just because there are many Cali players and many Japanese players. Good for cali and japan. But what about the rest of us? I am willing to bet that there are just as many players from the Midwest and East Coast as in the west coast. Yes I know that it is more logisically inclinded for them to hold it in LA or Tokyo due to them having headquaters there and all, but they hype this game up as a world wide phenominon... well... SE start treating the events like it is a world wide game.

No I do not live in Japan, no LA is very far from me, yes I would love to attend one of your events. Will you ever put one near me? Perhaps Chicago? Maybe even Detroit? How about Indianapolis? Are these not major cities? It's no LA.. but give me a break.

You have many players from all over the US, most of us have stuck by you in the face of Preorders coming from MxO EQ2 and WOW... treat us like you know we are loyal members of your game, not like second class players because we are not living next door to one of your headquaters.

Oh and SE, not that I think you will but if you want to write me back please I would love to hear a responce from you sence all these are going to be sent to you, show me that I am not a second class player to you and respond. I mean really respond not some lame song and dance batch e-mail like you send out when I have to call customer service because my account will not let me log in yet again.

So SE I challange you to put your fingers to work, make one of your interns respond to me at least.

DUNAVAN@AOL.COM
Not that I really expect a responce but there you go there is my e-mail.

SanFransico?!?!

I live in Indiana! Why not have one in every state? Would it be THAT hard?

I would have loved to go... but I can't afford a plane ticket to California just for a FFXI party. :(

Although I'm well aware that square would have money problems if they had one in every state, I also acknowledge that they would probably get a huge turn out if they did one in every major American city.

America is not like Japan, we have quite a bit more land space to travel through. However also, unlike Japan America isn't uber cramped in in almost every district (well for us it would be states) to the point of not having any room. What SE NA needs to realize, is that most of their players are ranging in age of 13-19, which means that these kids are always in school (college, middle, or high) or just plain don't have the money to come to an event like this. I myself am military, and would have to obtain a 4 day pass just to reach that portion of California.

What I want to know is, why do they always have these parties in California? No offense, but I've been to many of the spots in Cali, and from what I saw, it wasn't too impressive. This is to include LA, SF, Sac-town, Malibu, OC, SD, Anihiem, and our favorite "water is taxable place" - Death Valley. Why not have it in Seattle, WA? At least there the people are ultra depressed, instead of fake happy.

I haven't read through all the posts, but one thing that I've noticed people are forgetting is that it's the one-year anniversary for NA release. So those of you in far off Europe still gotta wait til your one-year anniversary, and those in far off Japan have had two-years of anniversaries now I think?^^

Not to put a damper on anyone, but just trying to remind us what we're celebrating. But yeah, having it in only one spot is being unrealistic of your playerbase. Something more national would have been appreciated.

Of course, this doesn't prevent people from hosting their own masquerade parties!

I'm not so sure about that...the majority of players appear to be in the 20-35 age range.

I understand completely holding the event where they are - I just hope the turnout is good enough to warrant simultaneous events in other states next time.

My boyfriend and I are both going. We just recently moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and we thought it would be a fun thing to do.

However if we were still living on the east coast we wouldnt' have been able to go do this, unless we had a lot of money to throw around. So I think holding this type of party in multiple locations would be great.

Add my name to the list of folks who would love to go, but it's just too far away. Maybe the New Years SE party can be on the east coast, or even in multiple locations.

One other suggestion I have is, why doesn't SE have in-game contests so some players can win a trip to one of these parties? Doesn't have to be a quest or anything, just each server has an extra NPC somewhere that a player can talk to to register for the contest. Each server has a winner or group of winners, and SE foots the bill for them to come to the party. I'm fairly certain they can afford it. ;0)

I wasn't planning on going initially, but it looks like I may be able to drag a couple of friends with me from San Luis Obispo (about ~4 hours south). So I wouldn't be pre-registering until Wednesday at the earliest (because I won't be sure I have a ride until then)...

It sounds like fun, and cutting back the ticket price $20 is definately going to help make it more accessible. I've been meaning to check out the Sony Metreon for some time now anyways. ^^

There's plenty of people over the age of 21. Most of my ls is over 21 and there's a number of us over 30.

And being over 19 doesn't mean you have the money to attend. I'm 30, and my bf and I would have had to skip the payments on rent and utilities for October to make it out there from Baltimore, MD. And I'd probably lose my job since I'm out of vacation days for the year.

I imagine there are Japanese who have had to work to scrape together the yen to go to the event SE is no doubt holding there. But chances are they knew it was coming since this isn't their first Halloween on FFXI. I can keep it in mind for next year, now, but it's still not worth it to travel 3000 miles just for a party. I'd rather save my money for Otakon 2005, which will probably have the added benefit of being local^^

Hate to sound like a broken record, but it is that distance thing for me and my hubby both, we live in Southeast Georgia and California is just to far away. As was suggusted by earlier posts - having multiple parties, all over the entire North American Continent (let's not forget the Canadian players) would bring in more people. I know that it would cost SE more money, but I think that the publicity would be worth it.

Someone mentioned a "FFXI Tour" somewhere in here.. I think THAT sounds like an excellent idea lol

Too bad it sounds like they might actually lose money on this though. If that happens then I wouldn't be surprised if they scratch any future ideas like this. >_<
Nonsense, just tell SE to put on a concert on each stop of the tour.
Tickets will sell like hotcakes (remember Dear Friends?)

Seems to be a common theme, California is just TOO far away. And, I also noticed quite a few folks mention things like work, family, physical condition...

I would LOVE to go, even if I had to pay $20-$30 at the door. Boston, MA. or even Providence, RI would be MUCH closer, and thereby making it a day trip, rather than an unpaid vacation.

The idea of actually meeting/networking with my fellow Asura server players is one of those "white-knuckle" excitement thingies! Some, I would embrace, others, I would snub. And, I'm sure some would snub me!

Even with that to look forward to, I would attend in a heart-beat if it weren't a "The <t> is out of range" situation.
