Fellowship Quest
# Jul 18 2005 at 9:59 AM Rating: Decent
I am curious about this Fellowship Quest. It looks like you have to level the NPCs though which means that you would have to be a low level to use them to their full potential. My guess is that this is more for newbs or people that enough alot of soloing. How would we get the quest though??
RE: Fellowship Quest
# Jul 18 2005 at 12:34 PM Rating: Decent
the quest would also be great for BST that plan to solo all the way to lvl 75. but i bet the quest is pretty tough and would need a pt to do
:)

Personally I really don't care how fast this update downloads as long as it does. Does anyone else remember the problems with the last update? It took some people in my LS 3 days to get the update, and then of course there were all of the problems with d/c'ing after the update.

*fingers crossed*

I hope things go more smoothly this time.

Hey, under ideal conditions, a cable connection is faster than DSL. But the cable connection is networked between your house and the ISP (this means that depending on your provider, you could be sharing bandwidth with the neighbors, the city or the town). As bandwidth becomes more of a selling point, I"m sure this trend is diminished (although I haven't researched that). DSL is not shared in this manner and provides a set speed.

DSL can go faster than 400k. I have a 3Mbps connection. And square does have some big transfer lines.

When I first got the game, I was having trouble installing it, and they told me they had trouble in the cd publishing, and gave me an ftp to dl the 3 damaged cd's. Got each cd in about 45 minutes.

but uh... guess how much i got on cable. lets see, 100Mbps so uh... 100 times what dsl has :P

If youre referring to that icon in your system tray, thats your network card speed, not your ISP speed. The speed between your network card and your modem will always be faster than the speed between your modem and your ISP, so the true speed of your connexion is dependent solely on your ISP's settings.

The connexion speeds are also calculated in megaBITS, not megaBYTES, therefore the actual speed at which you will download would be a little bit lower than your connexion speed divided by eight.

For example, dialup is a 56k connexion, so dividing this by eight gives us a 6k download speed, which is slightly higher than the 3-5k download speeds that dialup people should expect.

One thing you said is true though, cable IS faster than DSL. Over here the DSL companies offer connexions between 160k and 4000k (4MB), while cable goes all the way up to 7MB. If you want anything faster currently, youd probably have to start your own ISP and connect to a fiber optics connexion directly, which costs a small fortune <.<

just a lil info you might find interresting...

Volume check: 7 minutes, 30 seconds
Download / Unzip: 19 minutes
Installation: 2 minutes, 20 seconds
Total: About 28 minutes, 50 seconds

so i guess it should take about 2 minutes for me on cable :)

and i swear if ANYONE rates me down, or flames me because they think DSL is faster then cable i swear...

I wouldn't rate you down because I think DSL is faster than cable; in most cases, it's not. But stop spreading misinformation. You do not get 100 Mbps from your cable provider. In most cases, you *can* get up to about 1.5 Mbps - that depends on what you're cable company rates you at (Comcast in my area is now 1.5 Mbps download, 384 upload I think). In real world conditions, you're likely to get about half of that at best - maybe 700kbps or so. I can very nearly guarantee that you'll never see more than 1000kbps (1Mbps) downloading from anywhere - whether it's a file from a website or a torrent shared by hundreds. The only difference between DSL and cable is the way their connections are shared - the more people on cable, the less speed you'll get. On DSL your speed mainly depends on how far you are from the source of the signal.

So please, don't go around claming things that are absurdly untrue. Thanks.

actually, I'm on cable, and I hit 1000 kps several times a day, but I do have to admit I average closer to 400-500.

Lucky lol >< I'm kind of out in the woods, so I'm lucky to hit 500kbps. But the point is that 100Mbps is the LAN speed, from the cable modem to the computer, and you'll never hit the max that your cable company provides you with.
