The following adjustments have been made to the corsair job:

- The effect of “Phantom Roll” has been greatly increased.

- The length of time a character remains immobile while using the “Phantom Roll” ability has been reduced.

- The job ability “Fold” will now always remove the “Bust” penalty first.

image The following adjustments have been made to the puppetmaster job:

- Two new varieties of automaton heads have been added.

Ok i was testing out some of the new beast changes last night and yes you can charm a T mob to fight with you kill the mob and still get full exp even if you have your pet is still charmed. But the thing is and i havent finished testing this out in party while i had a T mob and my friend 2 lv higher than me had a T pet we didnt get full exp.

Like i said this is still to be fully tested but with 5 diff pets at diff lvs it still seems that in prty if your pet if it is the same or higher lv than your highest player you still loose exp but then that could be related to the party member its self rather than the pets if someone could confrim that that would be great thanks.

But great update keep it up se.

- Beastmasters will no longer be subject to an experience point penalty while using a charmed monster

I believe that should answer your question, SE says no exp penalty with a charmed monster. So the exp loss wasnt from your monster, prob from other player and being in a party and what not.

Try seeing if only having one pet out at a time in an actual pt lowers ur xp. It might just be the fact that you both had pets out.

I'd still like to have Nomad Moogles in Selbina and Mhuro,,,, (I know it's spelled wrong )

wow... just do the supply run to the dunes so you can outpost warp there. i guess next you kids need your items brought to you by the moogle, just have to call on your "moogle whistle".

Nope... But you know what? That subject of having a Nomad moogle at M'huara and Selbina is NOT a new idea. I've been playing FFXI since OCT 2004 and as far as I know it, that topic has been alive in LS's all over Vanny since that time. A Nomad Moogle at those locations would be a GREAT help to anyone.

Case in point:
1) Character OP's to the Dunes headed for a Party in Gustav Tunnel... lo and behold he forgot something. He could OP or perhaps it would be quicker to go to Selbina and use the Nomad Moogle there.

2) Character OP's to The Penn. (Buburimu Penninsula) and heads out on foot/choco to a party in The Labyrinth of Onzozo... well you wouldn't believe it she forgot something. Almost to the zone now... that's a long walk back and forth. Wait a minute!! SE finally put a Nomad Moogle in M'Huara!

I highly doubt we're the only two who want a nomad moogle at Selbina and M'Huara. We should all petition SE... if they won't listen to a few of us, maybe they'll listen to a **** load of us.

I think alot of what this update gave was good but also alot of things weren't that important like the beastmen seal icon not a major change needed in my book .... also they now changed penta thrust from damage to accurracy WTF!!!! were they thinking here I'm sure most dragoons like my self aren't thrilled with this change then again I could be wrong just my opinion but I don't think penta thrust should have even been touched let alone changed

They also added another "Accuracy Bonus" trait to Dragoon. Even it looks counter productive to give an Accuracy Bonus then say Penta Thrust acc varies with TP. I am not a DRG so not sure if that is good or bad. Guess it helps while melee'ing.

:)

None the less, the update looks very nice. Some things that needed attention - got it, some jobs that needed some tweaks - got it, some abilities that needed tweaked - got it and push to make 2H weapons do what they are designed to do got a nice push in the right directions.

2 thumbs up from me and as PLD, i got almost nothing from this update and I still like it.

As a PLD I think that your services will see greater demand following the update. As a 66 SAM pulling 1354dmg Tachi: Gekko partying with 2 DRK each pulling 1100+ WS themselves, the NIN tank gave up pretty quick, but the PLD tank really shined.

OK. so we have another update.

I love this game so i don't want to be negative, but it seems like there is a focus on the high-level jobs (extensions to storyline, equipment etc.) but there is very little that has changed in the general gameplay, to make it more enjoyable for everyone.

I laughed when i saw that they had changed the beastmen's seal icon - i imagine they have been flooded with emails about how bad THAT particular aspect of the game was.... NO. they weren't. They should be focusing on the things that are really frustrating about the game, like the fact that you have to type "zone" in linkshell, or party, chat so that if you are in the middle of a conversation, you don't have to ask the other person to repeat themselves because you missed what they said as you zoned in the Dunes.... Surely it can't be that hard to display linkshell and party chat that has occured while you were zoning.

Also, there is the fact that you can't melee mobs that are moving. I've spent too much time watching my Thief chasing a lizard or a goblin around, daggers drawn, waiting for the thing to stop running, then turning at the last second so that your sneak attack doesn't hit. The most annoying things about this is that the opposite is true when they are chasing you!

the list goes on.

Does thing ring true with anyone else? What subtle changes would make your gameplay experience better? Ability to play in windowed mode (why not? i dont understand)? GMs that don't talk like robots? :O

You actually can hit them while they're running. The reason you can't in the manner you're talking about is server lag. If you have ever seen two copies the game run at the same time you'll know what I mean. Anything you see moving in the game that is not you is actually ahead of where you see it on SE's servers and you are actually behind where you see yourself while you're moving on their Servers. Yeah, lag sucks.

The way you can keep yourself from just chasing those pesky mobs until they get tired and stop is to simply turn off your target lock and run with your weapons drawn and position yourself so it looks to you as if you're actually running in front of the mob. Sounds odd, but it works. Stupid lag. >.>;

I'd say the majority of people who play FFXI play on PC? There are a lot of things for SE and the dev team to consider before making an update or a patch... one major factor is/are the console(PS2/Xbox360) players. The dev. teams are limited in what they can do. To the OP, some of your ideas are good and seem to have merit. It annoys the hell outta me also when I stand behind a mob like a gob, then activate SA just to have the mob run off. That whole being hit from far away and having to chase a mob down to hit it is annoying also. Whats also annoying is having a mob attack me for two or three hits before my "DELAY" timer allows me to "perform that action again" when i click attack.

This is the only thing I agree with, that you pointed out.

Ummm...this is a given thing about this online game. Are you seriously getting worked up about being "Inconvienced" over LS/Party chat? You are one of those ppl that are going to make this game so easy(ergo BORING) cuz you can't have everything handed to you.....come on!!! This is something that you really shouldn't be whining about, as it takes your PC or console a split second to download while zoning to another area, therefore you miss somthing said over chat. You ever tried to /tell someone while they are zoning? It won't let you send it to them, so you have to retype it. You type zone so you don't miss anything, get over the fact that you have to type 4 letters over chat in order to not miss something in convo. >.> I'm so sorry you have to take 1.5 secs out of your life to type 4 little letters..........

Umm...you ever hear of {Ranged Weapons}??? Also you shouldn't be hitting your SA until you're ready to hit the mob, therefore you shouldn't be going after a mob that is moving. If you cannot use your job correctly(which means you don't attack a mob unless it is stationary, while using SA) then why are you playing that job?

Ya I love having other ppl able to read how much TP I have when they shouldn't have that info unless I give it out. Oh, and I just love not being able to see the exact Aggro Range around mobs, but ppl Windowing can etc, etc......STFU!!!

You know what? From what it sounds like you just want to automatically be given all 75's on all jobs, all gear, and all the gil a person is allowed to have in the game, and have all missions/quests done for you......

You know what, why don't you contact SE have them set up a Server just for you, and allow you to do what you want to, no rules applying to you, no consequences at all, and have everything handed to you on a silver platter, will that make you happy???

I enjoy this game, I would not want my gameplay easier than those that came before me, though it's already happened. Just because I don't like how SE has some things set up doesn't mean I need to whine and cry over it and have them change it on a massive scale. I'll b**ch about it, but I'll find ways around it, cuz it's a challenge to do so. You are just weak dude, weak.............

Not sure why you felt you needed to get so sarcastic in your reply. Besides, you totally missed my point on several things.

As for the sneak attack thief thing, its not about knowing my job, even if u use sneak attack just before you are ready to hit a mob from behind, it can still move and you then have to run around chasing it.

And its not about making the game easier, or handing anything to me on a plate, its about making it less clunky and improving gameplay. You obviously don't have a Linkshell, or if you do, nobody wants to talk to you, but i don't get how simply displaying linkshell and party chat that you miss as you zone makes this game "easier".

As for the windowed mode thing, i genuinely dont know anything about it so you don't need to get so hyperactive. I play WoW on PC and that plays in a window, as opposed to full-screen, and i don't see anyone complaining about other people being able to see their stats.... i think we may be talking about different things.

Have a lovely day - you lovely person.

Someone has issues lol...

TBH I actually like some of the ideas. The whole TP within the party box I think is outstanding, debatable yes (can all consoles have it?) but ultimately, it should just be a players choice to select if they want that extra clutter in the party box or not. They did cater to the lower leveled peopl as well however. G1 and G2 as I am reading the update section noted that drop rates for G1 items have increased, and G2 NM's have been made much easier. Alas, to call someone weak for simply stating an opinion with none of the whole LOLCAPZLOCK!!11...just poor taste is all. This game is a challenge, and sometimes it gets to the person(I'm assuming you never camped anything that had considerable long respawn times).

I know this post is terribly written, I will try to focus on what this thread is about even though some people are more concerned with insulting ones integrity..

This update came as a real shock, I love the utility of grips, I just wish MNKs had some access to a grip or two(yeah yeah H2H vs 2handed). xD

DRG gets another accuracy bonus trait, and BST's now can either solo for full exp or party for full exp(Didn't BST cause a lot of commotion at some point too? Guess they were too weak as well because they kept complaining).

All in all good update, I would like to see where they take things now that not every melee job has to be /NIN to be decent(grips that can stun o.O).

I would love to see AF grips lol

this is such a great update for so many people the 2 handed weapon update does so much now wars can actually use the gaxe if they want, subbing nin will pretty much only be needed for shadows, being a 75 drk myself i feel that hopefully with all these updates maybe drk will get invites to merits, and we will be alot more usefull endgame sence we will be less effected by high-defense then 1 handed weapons and our deley without haste or when we're slowed won't be so rediculous .. . anyway im pumped, ty SE ^^

Well, I have to say that I am very satisfied with the new /translate function. It will be interesting to see it actually in action. THe grip equip items seen interesting too, but I am conserned that these new items may be way over priced to begin with due to rarity and the lack of information on how to obtain these items. As far as the rest, I am sure some people may be happy or dismayed at somethings although tey don't really affect me being only lv 56 whm.

Can I hope that SE will make it a low to mid level craft possibly wood and leather? That would probably do away with high prices from the get go... IF the materials don't cost a fortune in themselves. I'm not griping... I am pleased with the "grips", but damn... i barely have enough gil as is.

On a side note: If these "grips" are actually crafted... is there an HQ version?

A new text command “/translate” has been introduced.
Using this text command, players will be able to see the translations for item names in Japanese, English, French, and German. Translated terms will be automatically added to the auto-translate dictionary under the category “Items”.
The “/translate” command is used in the following manner:

Example: Fire Crystal
English to Japanese: /translate “Fire Crystal” ej
English to French: /translate “Fire Crystal” ef
English to German: /translate “Fire Crystal” eg

*This text command currently functions for item names only.

There you go^^

From what I understood from this is that it is only for items. Although I would like to see a translator function in FFXI at least compareable to Alta Vista Babelfish. Being able to roughly speak with my fellow Japanese and non-english speaking europeans would be very pleasent indeed.
