The PS2 this day and age is the equivilant of a Compaq computer, it's not gonna be able to run new software as time fly by and eventually SE will stop making upgrades available for PS2 users. That's why I personally made a decision to get the game on 360 and it seems a good decision. I haven't froze on a NPC anywhere since playing it on 360. Remembering the first time I made it to whitegate on PS2, I froze first NPC I talked to. I'm sorry to say but I give it about 2 years before SE says to Hell with PS2 all together. I hope not though.

SE is far more likely to say "hell with FFXI" and stop giving content to anyone before they drop the game's original platform.

O.o

Is it me, or am I the only one having probably logging in. I am on the PS2 in case it's important. Here is my problem. when I try to log on, I sometime get to the screen where it says, "Disconnecting from server" and it would go half way and get stuck and then go back to the character selection screen. I notice that this dont happen when I use my pc or 360. Sometime it wont let me in for a good half hour of trying.
Thank you

I've been ******** about this for quite some time. I'm glad they're finally fixing it. I always froze at the Coin npc, the warp taru, and the sanction npc. It was a guaranteed freeze if you talked to any of them after warping to Aht urgan for 300 gil. Otherwise it was just likely but not always.
Half the time I'd leave it sit for 5-10 minutes (since Cold booting screwed up my files once before) and the screen just went black.

Thank you SE for FINALLY doing something about this.
Thank you

An easy way to avoid that happening after using the warp for 300g to Whitegate is to just zone into your Mog House before you goto the NPCs, the zonning seems to correct the glitch, its happened to me numerous times and the zoning worked. even though SE fixed it it still occassionally happens
Thank you

Don't forget the instantaneous boat ride to Nashmau... <_<; I freaked out first time that happened.
The funny part about that is the boat still has 11 minutes till it will even reach Nashmau from the time you hit the dock. So you were basically just warped to Nashmau ahead of the ship while the ship in the game was making its way there. :p
freeze >.>

Ah it's not that bad, a few years ago they changed how downloading updates were handled and some of us PS2 users couldn't even play for 3 months because we couldn't get the updates to download.
SE didn't even admit it was something they did at first.
never noticed a glitch..

Now if Square Enix would fix the PS2 glitch inside The Garden of Ru'Hmet that causes screen blackout when you stand too close to Aern-type monster using a TP move (usually "Auroral Wind" i think)...

God this was a pain at times when needed to move

it was like it was trying to load a Cutscene or something of that nature. You were stuck there until it started speakin or you reset.
generally for me the talkin cam about 1-5 mins later.
