Fields of Valor Beckon You!

The much-awaited December version update will see the introduction of "Fields of Valor," a brand new in-game system that will allow players to engage in light-hearted yet rewarding adventuring, regardless of whether they are bereft of company or part of a hulking party.

Development Concept

Ever had a bit of time to spare, but not quite enough to participate in a normal leveling party? Or for a change of pace, just wanted to chill out and indulge in some light-hearted gaming with friends and fellow linkshell members?
If you answered in the affirmative to at least one of the above questions, then Fields of Valor is just what the doctor ordered. For a small fraction of your time (friends optional), you can enjoy fuss-free yet rewarding adventuring. Get more out of each Vana'dielian day with Fields of Valor!

How to Play

Using a "Field Manual" located in any of several areas will bring up a menu from which players can select a training regime of their choice. After that, it's just a matter of venturing forth and slaying the enemies listed in the regime. Those wishing to enjoy Fields of Valor in a party simply need to make sure they all select the same training regime.

Rewards

In Fields of Valor, the spoils and experience acquired in the natural course of slaying monsters will be yours to keep. In addition, upon successful completion of each training regime, players will be further rewarded for their fortitude with experience and a corresponding amount of gil, as well as "tabs"—points exclusive for use in Fields of Valor. These points can be exchanged for items and services that will surely benefit adventurers roughing it out in the field.

Location?

This news is great, can't wait to get EXP from doing quests. Personally I think this feature was overdue. But the only question I have is: Does anyone know the location of these things? The intro says in certain places, but where exactly? The picture looks like an OP but couldn't find one yet. Any help is appreciated.

I look forward to the possible skill up aspect of this. Sync parties are killing my slow a$$ Scythe skill ups.
Gil and Exp?
# Dec 02 2008 at 12:26 PM Rating: Decent
I just hope the Gil and the XP will be worth it, its hard enough to make gil as it is and the only good xp comes from a long time pty.

i dont think the gil will be that great, but any little bit is better than nothing. im excited about this update . . . im just dying for some other faster way to make money than freaking farming, lol
Hmmm

Well I have to say this does look promising as most people here will agree it seems. The question I have to ask is how soon can I look forward to trying this out and what kind of requirements there might be to participate. I'm looking forward to trying this out since I only manage to play an hour or so here and there. Here's hoping it lives up to all of our expectations without going overboard.

I think this is a good way to keep ff11 alive because if they keep allowing newbies to level up easier and have more options for ways to level, they are less likely to quit and we can keep having next gen players.

When i talk to people who want to play this game but are unsure of it, its hard to tell them to play because of how difficult it is for beginners and that they would probably quit early in the game, but anything that will allow you to play constantly and gain exp + gil will make it less stressful for beginners.
Yay!!!

As an engaged mom-to-be who is always tired, a full-time worker, and night time student... I welcome this with open arms! I still get picked on for being rank 6 in my nation and not even having started CoP after 5+ years of playing. Even if I wasn't as busy, I couldn't dedicate myself to a game the way some ppl do. I'd feel sick... I like the sunlight and I like people lol. So as far as the slight shift towards solo'ism, I say BRING IT ON!!!! I may not have to cancel my account after all!

Sounds cool, I would love to see SE Make Skill specific Regime, this way maybe while you are doing it it dissallaws other skills to skill up ay the same time giving a 50% boost to a specific skill up rate.

Example:

Monk Gaurd Regime= 50% more skill procs in Guard, while nearly aliminating the possability to skill other things like evasion and HtH.

Sounds like a great idea here... Skilling up (especially post-Level Sync) has become an extremely tedious and time-consuming issue for many people, including myself.

Having the ability to truly 'train' a skill would be awesome. I honestly don't know why there aren't 'quests' for skill ups already. I'd certainly be willing to forgo all XP and other skilling while doing so. At least then it would keep me out of campaign battles and not grabbing tags, pulling hate and getting myself wiped by Three-eyed Prozpuz, as I did when skilling my GAXE. ^^
solo jobs BST and SMN

Well this would make easier for BST and SMN's to lvl at lower lvls until they are able to get up to the chance to do Campaign Battles so i say its pretty good to an extent but yes it should have a time limit on it

Maybe it's just me, but it gives me the feeling of a Campaign Ops. idk. I say it has potential, but SE could easily ***** it up.

Ona side note, am I the only one who noticed that the image provided is a picture of the West Sarutabaruta outpost under Bastokian control? lol

I'm not sure how I feel about more solo content. The easier it is to solo, the harder it is to party.
um
# Nov 29 2008 at 12:48 PM Rating: Decent
I agree, to some extent. But I feel a lot of people are in this game for the parties, and I doubt SE would implement this as a way to completely avoid partying. Of course there is that chance that they make it way too easy to level with it, but I hope that if they do, they downgrade it for the lighter leveling. I feel maybe a time limit on how often you can do it or something would work.

Like I said earlier, I'm a fan of this because I don't have much time to play, so as supplemental EXP, it should be nice.
To little to late?

Well, sounds like a good idea to add some solo content, but I have to wonder, is it to little to late to get former players back? In my case, I'm afraid it might be. =/

I can't wait, finally something a little less serious, but still (hopefully) fun and rewarding. I don't get much time to play at length, so simple and beneficial works for me. I hope it turns out well^^ I think I can safely say, SE has been stepping up their game.
This is great

As a casual player who usually has an hour or less at a time to play, this sounds great! Execution of this good concept could make it lame, but I've been pretty pleased with SE's transition from concept to development. My fingers are crossed.

Personally as a casual player as well, solo content will be much appreciated. Especially since half the time i log on, since i'm not super knowledgeable at the game it takes a while to get groups sometimes, it would be nice to be able to do more on my own.
