the first plan SE appears to have had (going by the extras from the game and the tribune, not the articles on POL) for this event is this:
give out only four types of crystals which have level 0-4 synths that are signable
terra
inferno
cyclone
aurora

They had lists of synths for these, if yuo got one and are complaining, check the article

the article did not mention glacier and twilight crystals and therefore I must assume that their inclusion was a mistake on the part of SE and they screwed those that got them over royally

However, the version of the event that DID NOT happen would have sucked far less...

Next time SE, stick to your first plan, I don't like your weak-minded attempts to make an event better at the last minute by ******** it up without consideration.

okay.... all you guys have been doen is whining about getting free stuff... shame on you. All I want to know is... if this crystal isn't used before valentines day is over.. will it still work? Cause I'm trying to build up my smithing as much as possible before I use it.

anyone know if they can be traded. I have no use for it, but I dont want to waste it, so I will give it to anyone who can use the crystal I got. Makes more sense then crying because you got something FOR FREE, even if you can not use it. If you can trade them or send them, if anyone on titan can use a cyclone crystal let me know. I will send it to them.

I personally have no use for a terra crystal I could just buy a crystal of my choice for 200 guild points :P

People need to stop crying about this. Get over it. You could of got nothing. I got a torrent crystal, and as a goldsmither I have no use for it. I agree that it is a pointless event, but it's still better than having nothing. Some people got what they wanted, others didn't. Grow up, stop crying because you can't have your way, and move on.

Why do people complain so much? The crystal was free, and the whole idea of making something personalized was just a suggestion. Even if you can't use the crystal you don't have to take it out of your delivery box, and you certainly don't have to cuss out the people who allow you to exist in this world. Geez, remind me never to give anything to people for free. I rather liked their story of Valentione's day, and using a glacier crystal on a piece of signed food sounds stupid, so I'll just do something else. Originality sounds much more romantic, don't you think?

I got a Torrent on my main, which is odd, because Im a serial Hoo camper lol. but I only have Gsmithing of 46....welland fishing 35. My mule got a cyclone. Though I havent crafter 1 thing with her yet

This is the most retarded event yet! it makes no sence to make a food item if ur just gonna use it and throw it away. and most of the time u get the wrong crystal anyways. they should have done something different for valentines day. >.<

Uugh, this events pointless. :| Ive got cooking at lvl 5.. and ya kno, nothing says i love you more then an engraved Boiled Egg or some roasted corn perhaps... This events mostly for the people with high lvl'd crafts, and .. thats unfortunatly not me :) Although, i do plan on lvling woodworking and makin my baby a nice simple bed ^^

Everyone I know got Twilight crystals...yeah...that's about the least useful thing for goldsmiths, smiths, and chefs...maybe we can sign some sheep leather...because nothing says I love you like rotted animal skins

SE really needs to rethink this event. It honestly sucks.
