Never Played FFXI Error
# Jul 05 2005 at 3:27 PM Rating: Decent
I was very excited about this deal so i went to the website on the first day of Part II and I put in all my info several times to get an Error saying that i never played FFXI.

My friend did the same thing, but he got curious and went onto POL to see if he could reactivate his char the normal way, mind you we both cancelled our Content IDs in January. He was able to reactivate his char despite what the Part II website said. I was also able to do this and this should solve the problem for people whom the website said never played XI before the website does nothing go into POL and try it out

If I lost my registration keys but my POL ID is still valid after 2 months, can I just buy a new copy of the game and try out the Comeback part 2? Has anyone tried it out?
Return? I don't think so

I quit the damn game because of consistent inaction by GMs on blatant bots who completely monopolized important NMs on my server. I'll return to Van'Diel when they develop the technology and the will to make sure that I am not wasting my time competing against computer scripts being run by people who monopolize the good drops, sell the items for absurd amounts, trade the gil for RL money, and ruin the game economy by giving money to people who produce nothing, and who don't care about paying too much for items because they just buy more GIl online. FFXI is a great game and the design is absolutely ingenius. Unless they realize how serious bots affect the game experience (not to mention the economy), the number of players will decline as "making a living" because increasingly difficult. Anyway, I gave away millions of GIL and millions in items, I won't be back. I'd be interested to know how many have quit because of frustration with bots.

All the best for those who stay.

I would like to know what the real point of this is most people sell or give away all of their gear and gil when quiting the game so whats the point of coming back to a naked poor character? not like SE will give them the items they gave away this is just another way for SE to make money..

Heh, my Lv.60+ character is personally worth more to me than everything that was in his bag and his moghouse pre-deletion... and that includes everything I gave away when I quit.

It takes too much time and dedication to relevel a character that high when you are trying to split your time between FFXI, WoW, PSOBB, and Guild Wars.

But alas, I lost him.
i got lucky

I was able to recreate my account, I had cancelled the Content ID and left the character data untouched way passed the 3 months. I went through the recreation website and they gave me the error that I had not used any FFXI services. I then took the chance anyways and reactivated the Content ID because I had previously read that the data might still be there... and it was! :D

The reason you can't restore a character if you have already created another character on the same content ID is because the new character has overwritten the old character data. It's not Square intentionally ******** with you, it's just that the data has be overwritten and is now gone.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

this was a great idea, but in the end SE made the process WAY to limited for it to be any real use to the massess.

I was really looking forward to bring back two of my deleted characters, but since i had made new characters on the ID's after i deleted the old ones they weren't eligable. :/
It's all about your Content ID.

The deal with this B.S. is all about the Content ID...

In order to get your deleted character back, the content ID that that character was on has to have been cancelled and NEVER USED AGAIN... (and that content ID cant be reactivated by you through the content ID screen under POL... meaning the content ID is gone too)

If you are getting the error that states you never used FFXI services then that would mean that you are screwed.

Also, if you create another guy on that same content ID at anytime after you delete the guy you want back.... you CAN NOT get the original guy back through this campaign.

Another thing.... if you used Content ID A for a main character and then deleted the character and then deleted Content ID A and then went away for months on end... only to come back 90+ days to play again, so you reactivate your Content ID A (which believe it or not is kept a lot longer than 90 days), but you are too late to get your original character back... then you are told by POL reps to leave Content ID A open so your undeleted guy can be put back onto that in June... so you leave it open (not cancelled), and then in June you find out that the Reps had no clue what they were talking about in April because the campaign needs a cancelled/deleted Content ID A to put your original guy on, and you are insanely upset about the whole deal and there isnt a damn thing you can do about it. :'(

I really hope POL and Square sees (and hears from) all the people that was hoping to get their guys back and cant just because of one little simple thing like a cancelled Content ID...

Changing the rules at the finish line is NOT cool.
probs

im having some problems with this. I created a character when I first got thie game when it first was released in the US. However, a few months later I deleted the character in order to create a new one on a different server. I think I used the same content ID for the new character as the old one, but I'm not sure. Now i want to get that character back if i can. The return to vanadiel site says if you deleted a character you can get it back using part 2, so I figured I would use part 2 to get it back. However, after entering all the information, i get the error saying that i never played ffxi before deleting my POL account. However, I have been playing ffxi this whole time and never deleted my POL account. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or knows how to get around it. Thanks
Reraise Beta Characters
# Jun 09 2005 at 12:14 PM Rating: Decent
One interesting thing to be noted from this program is that NA Beta testers can get their characters back via this program. I must say I was quite surprised to see my old beta characters listed when I went to reactivate some old retail chars. All the beta characters seem to be put on Asura. Does this mean Cactaur (beta server) became Asura? Admitedly, reactivating beta chars, few who got far or had that great of items, seems kinda silly, but it is an interesting curiousity.

Its good to see that the reraises I cast on my characters before letting them go before seemed to work ^^;

i'm having serious problems with this, now, as much as i wanted to come back, i am reminded how stupid this all is, i should fall into part 2, but when i complete it it says that i never played ffxi before i cancelled my playonline account, meaning, i never played ffxi and my playonline account is cancelled, which both are wrong, so i figured if it read it like that, i'd try part 1, so i did and it told me i was ineligible for that because my playonline account was still active, kinda an oxymoron eh? well all damnation and hell on square as far as i'm concerned right now
yeah...
