Xbox 360™ FINAL FANTASY XI Beta

The commencement of official service for FINAL FANTASY XI on the Xbox 360 begins on April 20, 2006*, and so we must say farewell to the extremely popular beta test (ending at midnight PST on April 2, 2006).
It will be possible to transfer characters from the beta server to an existing World. The procedure for transferring characters will be explained in an upcoming announcement. *Japan standard time

There are always going to be console wars and fanboys, and I'm not going to go there, but I did want to say that the players that are about to eagerly join all of you have mostly had to accomplish everything they've done with minimal power levelling, without level 75s around, and on a server where solid knowledge was limited and had to be learned first hand or read here.

I think we're all going to make a great contribution to the game, and personally I look forward to playing with all of you on Ragnarok.

I sympathize with the idea that no beta group has ever been migrated before, and I expect some grief that we're getting special treatment. However, a lot of us are zeroing out our gil balances and bringing in stacks of goods to be able to fight the 5x to 10x cost of items where (expletive deleted) RMT gil sellers exist. There is definitely going to be short term deflation around the 20th. If I was on a retail server, I'd be stacking gil for the arrival of eager sellers. There is just as much strategy about this move for players already in the retail worlds as there is for players figuring out how to migrate off Hydra without going broke.

We're never going to get over our platform wars, but if we can all be mature this migration can be a huge win for all players involved.

I play on the XBOX and frankly I am glad they are letting us move our characters over simply because I can't spend 4 hours a day playing it.

I would be fine with it if they were to strip us of our gil and our NON-Equipped items. I just want keep my job levels and my Skill levels
XBOX 360 Migration Issues
# Mar 20 2006 at 9:47 AM Rating: Default
The reason that other systems never got to migrate and were forced to start over is because SE signed a multi-million dollar contract with Microsoft and entered into an agreement that guarantees microsoft customers the red carpet treatment for the xbox 360.

Dont worry, this migration will not cost servers or their AH's. I have been playing the beta since it came out and believe me, there were alot of the people that were playing it that sucked and I never saw anyone higher than level 24 on the entire time.

Personally i own an xbox 360 and when the game releases on the 20th of april i for one will not be migrating my charater over to the main servers. i will be starting over again since i feel that i will get a better experience starting from scratch in a new server. as to those that own a crapS2 system. you all have my pitty. even when the new system comes out you will have to deal with a higher price tag than the 360 and those boomerang controlers. boy did you guys get reamed. lol

But I, for one, <3 me PS2 :3

Oh, and well... >.>

I can leave my system on for 2days+ without the HDD melting! XD

Xbox >> PC
# Mar 18 2006 at 4:56 PM Rating: Decent
I played on the PC and now i am playing on the Xbox 360 and i must say, the prices of things are much cheaper. But what you MUST realise, the stuff we sold at auction went much cheaper so we just have less money to buy cheaper stuff. It was also good (and also bad) that i had to do everything (including sub job quest (1/21)) without a high level Hazza helping me every step of the was :D

Anyway, im looking forward to getting back to my old Mog House in Sandy, hope the mog aint had too many wild parties!

Also, any news on whether we will get to pick the server we enter??

What your not understanding is, yes you did level jobs and crafts cheaper, but when all of the beta players will be allowed to transfer over to existing servers, they will be able to do high level stuff, and high level profit synths, and make tons of money from the inflation on existing servers, but they got to level those jobs and crafts for next to nothing.

Beyond them getting to transfer their characters. Look how long they've gotten to play without even having to pay for their characters.

Some people on the beta are actually in their 60's. Maybe SE should credit all of us PS2/PC players the same amount of time they gave the beta testers. I doubt it will ever happen but that's how it should be.

SE is trying very hard to keep the Xbox players. Especially on their own forum you have bunches of them claiming they won't buy the game if they don't get to have their characters transfered. I think SE has now spoiled them rotten, and when they do hit retail they'll start crying more. What's SE going to do then? Give them 1 million gil each to offset the inflation they were forced to join.

My last comment on this subject is they really must want to get rid of the PS2 side of the game. Everything is limited to that system. Graphics, storage, and many other features. If they found a way to drive them off there would be many more changes that both the PC and Xbox could handle much more easier than the PS2 could ever dream about. No offense PS2 users Sony made a ****** system. I know this because I own one.

i beg to differ, i have been playing ff on ps2 for over a year, i dont have to worry about buying a 200$ graphic card or worry about my operating sytem being able to even play this game, yes PS2 may not be the best and most powerful, but can u hook ur computer up to a 40 inch widescreen tv with component and 1080 dpi and still have dobi digital surround?alot of u said no. no offense to people that play on pc because i 2 have it on pc, but i prefer to play on ps2.

this is going to suck.
they are all going to start with a good bit of money, so, as soon as their characters are emerged into our servers its going to be like a wave of gil buyers (simile, not accusation...) except with a taste for higher level gear.
prices for the better gear are probably going to plummet, where if they had to start over, prices would change very gradually, or maybe even stay balanced.
i just hope im dead wrong.
WTF

Oh sure, SE kisses up to the Xbox users, and let the old PS2's suck it up.

Injustice I say!

So, X-Box 360 Beta users got to level jobs and crafts with zero inflation. Now they are being allowed to transfer them all 'Herbie:Fully Loaded' over to existing servers.

well us xbox players will have elder scrolls IV oblivion to keep us busy until retail launches
PLEASE!

Please let an immigration occur! I want to get out of Fairy and find a server with a lower inflation rate. 70k for a stack of beeswax is kinda high, although not totally outrageous as is was before the gil fix that ended most gil sellers' careers. I saw on a site for 414 something American dollars you can buy over 5 billion gil.

Um...read more carefully. It says:

Beta >> existing world. Not world >> world.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 17 2006 at 8:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm wondering... see, I have the beta disc. I don't have a 360 yet, but I'm wondering if I can register for the beta, and the game will update, and turn the information from the beta into the real game instead of having to buy the game since all the information's already stored on the HDD. Then I can use my already-existing character :D

I would say no. Reason being because, they are not transforming the beta server into a real server, they are moving beta characters from the beta to a real server, if you so desire. The way they have done server migrations in the past is you go to a specified NPC and talk to them, and then you give them info and they transfer your character. So you have to be in the game alre

No. It's not cool. Absolutely no one else JP, NA PC, NA PS2, no one got to transfer their character from beta >>> a real server. We all had to start over.
