i get the same problem >.< can't find any info online about this yet. it's really pissing me off that they convieniently wait till they close customer service to launch this XD

if i find a fix i'll let you know. I've checked my content IDs through the top-page and they are there and everything is registered. not sure what's going on ;_;

If you'd read the patch release notes, which are linked to in the article you've posted a reply to, you'd find that there was no mention of WARs gaining any 'Axe Throw' abilities. So, obviously, they haven't put it in. The FF Dev team only said they were "considering" it, not that it was a definate addition. They may add it in a future update, or they may end up canning the idea all-together.

Ok, is anyone else having this problem, or know how to fix it?
Before the update, everything ran perfectly fine on my machine. Now, whenever I try to log into FFXI from POL, I get the error message "could not initialize Direct3D"
I looked at their lame Q&A section and tried all the solutions for this problem but to no avail.
I do NOT need a new graphics card. All my drivers and everything are up to date. Everything worked gorgeously until the update.
I emailed tech support but they are taking forever to get back to me.
Any ideas?

Thief got nerfed BOOOO! The new TP changes give THF Slow +10% and Subtle Blow -4. Monk and Ninja were barely scratched, and Warrior gets a slight increase in TP gain. Way to balance the jobs SE.

Grr! None anywhere in my city yet. I can't get a copy until thursday or more likely friday. Even then it is only if i am lucky and move fast enough. If I don't it could be a weak before i get mine. /sigh... more waiting for this kitty....

I called the EB Games store about 4 days ago, but was too busy with work to go into the store to reserve a copy. Went to the store yesterday in hopes of getting a copy. I waited 3 hours just for them to tell me that there aren't enough copies. Can't really blame em. I had to go online and order one for overnight delivery. Should be here friday... I can't wait.

Yea, you can do the same thing if you check the conquest via menu, you'll get the choice between conquest or besieged.

anyone happen to notice the thing with NM? to me it looks like if you get hate from a monster you have not claimed, it turns to you and you end up claiming it. that doesnt sound right so if anyone could clear this up for me i'd appreciate it

No, what they're saying, is there have been cases where a monster was attacking a player. Then another player comes in and claims the monster (dia, provoke, steal, etc.) and this action doesn't generate enough hate to claim the monster.

Then the player being attacked cannot attack back and the player who did claim the monster has the option of leaving you like that. Therefore the player being attacked could never fight back against their assaultant.

That was the problem in the past version, which they now say is fixed.

To the point, though confusingly said. {/laugh}

- Person A is attacked by Mob.
- Person B uses Provoke on Mob.
- Person B does not generate enough hate for the Mob to start attacking him, so Mob is not claimed by person B. (Person A can still attack it and claim Mob.)

- Person B continues attacking Mob until it turns away from Person A and begins attacking Person B. At this point Mob is claimed by Person B and Person A cannot attack it.

It resolves the issue of a person being attacked by a claimed mob and left unable to fight back...




However, this prompts a question... does it claim on whoever has the most hate? Would a PLer suddenly get claim on a monster, or would a party be unable to HOLD a claim on it if the PLer had hate?

I tested this. There was a suicider in the plains and I casted Cure III on him. The monster promptly began attacking me, but it stayed claimed by the suicider. So, no parties won't lose a claim to a PLer.
Job Updates

I was under the impression that there would be more updates to jobs (rather than just PLD, RNG, and WHM). Are they waiting for a later date to update the others?

Probably. Don't forget, they're adding in three new entire jobs with all sorts of new abilities, not to mention all the new enemies, quests, and items, all of which may need to be balanced and tweaked. I'd imagine that the last thing they want to do now is make major changes to just about every other job in the game *all at once,* right on top of all the new stuff.

So I'm guessing they'll probably add in the other job changes a few at a time in future updates, wait and see how things are working, then add in a few more for the next update and so on. Or maybe they'll surprise us and just add them all at once for the next update ^^; Either way, it's something to look forward to!

Hmmm... Although he may be offering a working and older version of Windower, I wouldn't download it YET since it's not a direct link from Windower's main page. Cliff did mentioned to only download from its main page and not anywhere else to avoid spyware/trojans etc.

I wouldn't mind playin in full screen mode until I get the actually link from the main page. I wouldn't wan to risk having any "extra" stuff that comes along with the above version that may cost me my character... Just a harmless reminder though

Reports comming in from the archbell forums say the windowers downloaded from other sites instead of the main one have keyloggers added into them.

hmm i don't know about you, but my district is same-daying FFXI for all systems, so it wont come through UPS, but brought straight to store by my DM. might wanna call your store manager or DM about it.

Ships the 18th. Received in stores the 19th. Yeah I went all over town for my lunchbreak and all the stores said this to me.

Regarding windower specifically:
They may have broken version 3.21, but 3.2 works in the meantime. None of the specialized functions like TP work, but at least you can play in a window again, although it does cause some seriously lage for everything else running. Download it here

A few quickly-discovered bugs

First one I noticed was that HP healing is not accumulative: I have healing HP+8 in my gear and I was healing 18hp every tick when I took my 72 Monk to skill Guarding in Crawler's Nest... 1700hp, ouch! Second (this one is laughable) was a fella shouting for help on how to call a GM because his Galka NPC turned into a Hume when it gained a level. I called out my Taru NPC who was set to level up soon and lo and behold, he became a Hume when he hit lv32. Third was an LS mate who said Stoneskin's durability had become incredibly weak, barely lasting through a too weak goblin when it should last through 3-4 of them. GM Chandrok informed me that these issues are known by now, so look for another maintenance period soon. Last is unfortunately not a bug that will be fixed. The first thing I did when I logged in was hit alt+tab to check out my browser and got kicked out for losing fullscreen for the first time in ages... they done broke the Windower with this update, /cry... Sure it will block the bad guys from botting, but they'll find a way around it. Windower will return again someday.... right?

Yes, it should resolve a lot of the issues about PLD having too little MP... especially the Galka ones. An LS of mine was going to start leveling PLD but his low MP pool turned him off to it. Maybe this will help convince him?

Aditionally, they increased the effectiveness of shields, as well as giving the PLD a TP-gain ability when a successful block is gotten. Combine this with a SAM sub, and you've got one mad hate-taking machine.

If you go to the details the said PLD will be getting an Auto Refresh much like a SMN tho i believe it'll be much later level.

I would hope that it would be a progressive Refresh as the levels go up, but at lvl 67, I am happy to get whatever I can get.

This will allow me to get the full benifit of the melee songs a Bard uses in battle, instead of having to rely solely on the refresh ballads.

Then again, auto-refresh + Rdm refresh + Brd ballads = Mad MP Pool

I know you get Auto-Refresh somewhere between 28 and 50
Because My Tarutaru is a 28 PLD without and my Girlfriends level 50 PLD has it.


EDIT: I read that it's actually aquired at 35
