umm...yeah i just got done killing the NM for this weapon for my 47 drg and it was the easiest battle ive ever done.i had a 75 sam 58 whm and 47 drg (me) and only took like 3 minutes for us to totally annhilate him:)
These weapon quests are soloable as a 75, I'd be surprised if 3 of you couldn't do it.
Rumor has it, VIT, DEX or AGI effects your Jumps.
IDK, confirmation would be nice.

Extremely easy did it as 72 thief/ninja and didn't get hit once, took about 10-20 minutes since his defense is immense and he spammed his damn defense boost ability... my off hand hit for 10-20 crit 30 and my on hand for 40-50 crit 80 weapon skill about 300, got annoying tword end when he started spaming cure III for 180 each, two of them totally negates my weapon skill so it got rather annoying, either way he's easy as hell and anyone w/ decent evasion can solo him no prob also this mob has very low agi as proven by my 90% crit rate vs him
P.S. For those who like to pick at games when you click the ??? it says "You feel a hostile gaze upon you!" but Antican are blind, infact they have no eyes at all, they detect by sound, just thought that was funny
P.S.S. be careful where you rest, a Sabotendar aggro'd me while I was resting and at the end of the battle hit me w/ 1000 needles left me w/ 5hp, barrly survived thanks to perfect dodge

I concur that it's a very easy NM to solo.
Pretty basic fight. He has about 7k HP, and uses Invincible at 50% health like a good NM boy should.
Nothing worth noting, really. One of the easiest AF NM out there.

ok I see how this is a great lance and it is needed to get my other AF armor I also love the dex boost but drgs dont really need the vit and so far, at all the lances around this lvl I would have to say that the behourd lance is better(it has less delay and agility + 2) this is still a good lance if ur forced to sub tank though cause of the vit and the dex

yup, thats right. sweet, i finnaly got my pic on here.
This will be the 2nd AF weapon I have quested for Maiyah... And I was wondering... Would i be able to solo this SOB as 66DRK/THF?

Samurai can use spears, but not lances. lances are for dragoons. there is a huge difference between the two. this is a lance and it's a dragoon AF, so samurai can't use it anyway.
good job insector gadget, same class (polearm) lvl 30 i beleave samurais and pld can use a royalwhatever, and it is a LANCE omg....do your homework..

The original poster was correct. Please don't flame without doing your own homework. Spears and Lances are subsets of the Polearm weapon type.
Some polearms are Lances, such as the Platoon Lance. In general, only Dragoons can use these items (there are a few exceptions, such as Royal Knight Army Lance but in general Lances are only used by Dragoons.
Most other polearms are considered Spears, such as the Royal Squire's Halberd. These items can be equipped by Warriors, Paladins, Samurai and Dragoons.
Some polearms are neither, such as the Kamayari, which can only be equipped by Samurai.
If anyone has questions, corrections or clarifications, please bring them to my attention.

There is another Lance I can think of that isn't Dragoon exclusive, using it currently. The Obelisk Lance is PLD/DRG.

just tried to get this for a friend, so me(45DRK), 40DRG, 53PLD, and 33BLM almost kill it, wut then the paladian gets silenced, another ant pops and links, kills the pld, i get hate, die, drg gets hate, dies, blm dies, end of story. moral is: get some high level help for this, although i think we would have been fine if that other ant hadn't linked.

i just hit 41 drg two days ago, so its about time to be thinking of getting this. Right now i am using the Beyhourds Lance, which is pretty nice. Now all i need is a Higher level to help me get that damn stone.

No offense to you guys, but at least you CAN use your AF weapons, even if just for a level or two. Monk's AF are a step above worthless, and Black Mages not much better.

Is this really better than the Obelisk Lance +1?
Cuz +3 on damage and +1 on DEX does not seem better than +3 STR altogether. And the Behourd Lance is only 60 damage and AGI +2...so does anyone know if I should just sell my Obelisk +1 and get the Peregrine or Behourd? Or keep what I got?

The only reason I'm getting this is because it will be my first AF ever and it's a fun quest I can do with my LS. I'm not concerned about the stats of it, I just want to get it.

imo, i believe the AF1 is better than the Obelisk+1. why? simple.

1 DMG = 2 Str as far as i remember. so +3 DMG is +6 Str. (not positive on this, correct me if i'm wrong.)
in addition to this, you still have the +1Dex (useful esp. for Elvaan) and the Vit+(which isn't really needed. i mean, are we tanks???)
the damage/cost/stats aren't really outweighed 'til you get the Mythril Lance at 48.

I think it only works the other way around.
2str = 1dmg
not
1dmg = 2str
2str = 1dmg
not
1dmg = 2str
This isn't a mirror; just because it works one way doesn't mean it works the other. Actually, it's 2 Strength = 1 Attack, and Strength also has other effects in addition to this. 1 Attack does NOT equal 1 strength; you can get attack boosts from increasing your weaponskill, for instance, but that does NOT affect your STR.

It's just a shame that this AF weapon gets outdated so fast. AF weapons should last you till you hit 70's, since they are Job AF weapons. :(

when i did this quest i got 3 buddies of mine to help us out our party was 40drg/sam <--Me 45 blm/smn Kioku 57 pld/war Soulseeker 56 drk/war Flamei. when we engaged this NM i figured he was hard cause so many people had horror stories about him but we flew through him. In less than a minute we had taken him down in probably the most savage beating he ever had and no 2hours where used

Currently using this with my DRG. Not impressed by it at all. Behourd Lance at lvl 40 I think is much better choice. And you can save it for BCNM40. I plan to use a Trident at 45.
you're kidding, right? why would you even think of going back to spears, after the mid-30's.
i mean, to each his own, but better to take advantage of the cheap, strong, decent-delay, high end, DRG-only weapons.

i might just keep this once im lvl 42 untill Holy Lance at lvl 53, then get my Royal Knights lance at lvl 60. Im only lvl 38 now though (cant wait to get it!) ^_^

im lvl 41 one just finished it and cant wait to use it
i plan on using this until lvl 53 and get Holy Lance.... was gonna get mythril lance but even though the attack is a bit better i like the dex and vit bonus....only +1 but still :)

You May Have Seen A Sam Using A Spear, Many of Them Do But not this one.
Because this is the AF1 DRG, only Dragoons can equip it plus it's a lance, not a spear.

Actually this not any job, it is dragoon only. It is the dragoon AF weapon.
