Auriga Xiphos  

Auriga refers to a slave whose job is to drive chariots. Auriga Xiphos is owned by Chariotbuster Byakzak, an orcish slave whose job is to operate an Orcish Warmachine. Although it is styled a Xiphos, only strong adventurers can wield this and it is an improvement to an already powerful iron longsword.

Hello, I am on ODIN and have just killed this thing for the 8th thime...

0/8 atm but I am not leaving till I get the dang sword for my 19PLD. Already have the Van Pendant and the Clipeus Shield. Looking for all the ra/ex items for my PLD atm. Next up... Power Sandals...

Ok so I decieded to take my 45THF up there just for the hell of it. I stood there for about an hour then the Panzer popped. SA'd it for 260 then melee'd a bit more, then I noticed that a fighter came out of its butt; Lolz he was a bit tougher then the Panzer hehehheheh. I dropped a total of maybe 4-5 Panzers then Chariot popped, Whooped his butt with 4 other orcs on me. I was not able to get a SA off because it popped red >.< But I got my blade, my PLD was level 1 at that time. So now I have all the New Low level NM's in my pocket I decided to level PLD. PLD currently 15. All my Camps were while watching TV. I would stand there and since I was playing on my PS2 I just changed the channel. Roughly every 15 minutes I would change it back to the game and hit a quick Widescan. So even though my camps only took hours, I never really noticed it because I was TV the entire Camp time.

Ever since I bumped into Goliath Beetle (that later changed name to Funguar Beetle) and got a Clipeus I have been looking for these relatively new NMs with 100% drop. The more jobs I have unlocked and tried out the more useful I have found these things. And there is still people out there that don't know about Ropipi's Entrancing headband (+2 chr for level 11 any job), for example, so you still get questions when wearing them.
Anyway I always had in mind to check this sword out, both for RDM and PLD. But Byakzak was the hardest of them, even if not many were camping him.
I came on a Friday late evening and started to run around, unsure about where and how the Panzer spawned. There was a few others there and after a while I got a /tell that I just missed him. It was late so I logged out.
The day after was one of those few days when I could spend a few more hours online and now I was alone in the area. I got the Panzer 6 times (spawned at H8 every time) before I started to get tired of it and went to look for the Power Sandals in Davoi instead. I also helped my son do his Fellowship-quest and late evening Saturday I found myself not so far from the spawn-area again. Did a last check before I was going to log off and the Panzer was there. And this time Byakzak spawned.
(My son got a Lantern Shield the day after too!)It's going to be fun to do PLD a few levels more soon.
But all these Ra/ex drops really makes it necessary to get a moglocker.

I was helpiing my friend (WHM 24) Get his kazaam keys and decided to check for panzer pop. As always he was in his little area surrounded by orc and lizzards. I decided I wanted to kill him (30 WAR) so I could use the sword for my PLD which I was currently leveling.

We start the fight off pretty good and Panzer missed me alot as expected. it was only after killed him did the suspense build up. I axiously waited for and orc to pop out half expecting it to be An Orcish fighter. Then BAM! Chariotbuster Byakzak!!

I knew this drop was 100% so I was exited. When he spawned, 6 or 7 of the nearby Orc's agroed. Chariot was a bit harder then I expected, haveing alot of HP. So I used 2hr. WHM was taking hit badly from nearby orcs and my hp was low but we pulled through and I ended up uptaining the sword.

This sword is the absolut best sword from levels 19-30. I love showing it off in party's and I bet if it were'nt RARE EX it would go for a cool 500k on my server (Odin).

I love this sword. Defanatly worth the time to camp in my opinion. A MUST have for PLD's.

After using every Xiphos sword up to 20 as Corsair I assumed I could use this one to... After camping it for two days, i went 1 out of 6 to find that the picture is still up to date and Corsair or Blue Mage can NOT use this ; ;

I found this thing as I was helping a friend get his Khazam keys. Didn't know it was an NM. Obviously I didn't get the NM spawn associated with this. Going to look more carefully for more of these on Caitsith.

After being 0/many+ (I lost count of how many days I spent camping this *(&%&^($*^%$£&"&^%£-er, I finally got it with the help of my friend Shenlong.

He actually asked me to slow down after getting it as I suddenly gained {Tarutaru} hyperactivity post lootage.

Much much Kudos to Shenlong, for finally relieving me of my misery and props to Chariotbuster for finally spawning.

A simple test of whether it ignores def is just try hitting an IT crab with it (like in qufim PTs).

If you hit harder than everyone else does (because their weapons don't ignore defense) then it would be safe to assume that this sword does ignore def.

I highly doubt it however.

I have killed 17 Orcish Panzers in a row.. 17 HOURS.. and not one spawn of Chariotbuster.

Is everyone sure that it is totally random whether or not you get him to spawn? Could there be some time of day, job, level... *some* requirement that I'm not meeting to get him to spawn?

Edit: Update- I'm now 0/23. And I don't mean I've tried this 23 random times- I'm talking about that I've gotten 23 *straight* spawns in a row- NONE of which was the NM.

Edit #2: I finally got the NM to spawn, and in-turn the sword to drop on attempt #30. Yes, you read that correctly. I camped this thing for 30 hours straight. Best of luck to anyone camping it. {Sleep} {Can I have it?}

The sub-spawn rate of the NM Chariot Byazkak is fairly low (it took 7 Orcish Panzer kills before he spawned). Thank goodness that the Auriga Xyphos is a 100% drop...that'd be really sadistic of S-E if it weren't. ;p

This is a good sword to use for RDMs for Lv20-25 capped events, like BCNM20s, garrisons, or the dragon fights needed to earn Rank 3.

Strange that they don't give the info on where this comes from; I thought they usually gave that on the right side. Anyway...

Drops from Chariotbuster Byakzak.

He is an NM that "has a chance" to spawn (I'm 0/6) when the Orcish Panzer (also an NM) is killed.

He will spawn claimed (red) to whomever killed the panzer.

If Chariotbuster does not spawn, an Orcish Fighter will spawn instead.

The Orcish Panzer is on a 65-70 minute timer (I have seen it pop at both times), and spawns in the G/H-7/8 area of Fort Ghelsba.


And an interesting tidbit: Auriga is latin for chariot and is also a constellation.
