Hmmm... I do need beeswax, and it appears that this sword is cheaper than two things of beeswax... so I guess I'm going to be buying these up and destroying them for their component parts. Get one while you can! (evil laugh...)
The reason that the ingredients are cheeper is simply the fact that beeswax is more useful (on a general level) than the sword. The sword is a decent choice for leveling a low level sword user, but it will be tossed aside when you see the next sword available. Beeswax is more versatile. Also, though I have never personally tried to de-synth anything, many synthers who gave me starting advice say that a de-synth will usually not have more than a 50% success rate. Plus you will have to buy the lightning crystals too, and on my server a stack of those is usually 3k
Beyond the idea being iffy in realistic terms, the profit margin is extremely thin. I could probably make more gil/hr just farming for seeds. A vana'diel day or day and a half will usually give me 24-30k yeild depending on drop luck and the moon/day factors.
If you simply want to save gil in the process of getting materials for personal use, this is fine. If I only need a few ignots or something I'll synth them myself for half of the Guild's price and a third of the AH price.
Neither. If the synth calls for a spatha, you cannot use a spatha +1. Ironically, this makes the HQ version of some synths undesirable compared to the NQ version (such as buffalo/bison jerky).
I dig this sword. It's good all around up to at least 23rd lvl. I used great swords for a while, but I'd much rather wield a shield for defense. That's just me, though.
lol, i was heading to the dunes to pl my friends group, he said he still had a spatha and if i could get him a new weapon, so i told him that i'd get some supplies and make his spatha into a bee spatha, at the time i only had 21 alchemy but i got there and i did a HQ with it signed, i thought it was kinda funny.... yeah.... just bored looking at random forums atm lol
I really wish people who refer to other people as "noobs" or "nwebs", however the hell you spell it, would just die. If you stop and think about all there nerdish langauge, it sounds pretty gay. Here, let me show you what i am talking about, maybe this will stop some of the critism.
Mark:"whoa, i got nerfed." Timmy:"indeed, why, your a noob." Mark:"lol, hush now before i pownulate on your face..."
If there is anything that disgusts me about the FFXI community its that everyone has to tell everyone exactly how to play the game the "MOST EFFICIENTLY"
WARs: Please don't use swords! Axes and Great Axes are best for you! Swords are intended for PLDs and RDMs.
For the love of God, its a game people, instead of worrying about how everyone else plays the game and using your moronic "Elite" talk calling everyone "noobs" or whatever cause they don't play in the most "efficient" manner possible, shut up and play the freaking game. I leveled to 30 using Bee Spatha +1 and you know what, I was far more "effective" with it than any axe I tried. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but please don't tell people how to spend their $13+ a month. You do your thing, and let other people do theirs. And be patient, everyone is a beginner at some point, even you who read this.
I was browsing through the Windy AH for one of these, but was a little turned off by the 8k price tag. I clicked out of the AH and checked this girls bazaar... and there was one for 5.5k! I quickly grabbed it, tossed her a protect, and ran off happily ^^
I used this sword from the time I was able to use it (by level) on my red, and kept it til almost level 30. For the amount of damage vs the delay, it's the best sword for any class within 10 levels, regardless of the price.
Anyone afraid of loosers being scared off because you're not using a "current level" weapon, anyone who knows how to play knows how good it is.
I also used this sword up until I was able to use a Centurion's Sword
The accuracy and delay on the Bee Spatha +1 makes up for the reduction in damage. Esp for a rdm, when there is an enspell up, is going for landing fast hits.
This sword is fine for a few levels and I mean a few. Trust me your enspells won't do much good if the base hit can't do any damage. It'd be the same as if you had used a sword of appropriate lvl say lvl 27 sword and hit a mob with high defense without an en spell. (Assuming it was IT) Besides rdm's don't really need to be on front lines. We need you for backup support for mages and stuff. It is fine if you want to raise swd lvl, honestly it'd be a lot of help too. But we leave the fast hits to the thf's nin's of the world.
This sword has simply been great to me. Bought one for 4K (Asura) when I first started lvling my War and used it all the way through to lvl 30 with my Paladin. Then upgraded to Centurion's Sword which has the feel of a Bee Spatha +1 on steroids.
There are very few 1H swords that do more damage from lvl 11 to 30 and the +2 accuracy is arguably better for all non Mithra characters.
Young Wars or Plds might shy away from the price but more consistent hits on VTs and ITs really pays off in a group.
First off, if you want to rant on people you shouldnt even say axes, just Great Axes since thats the A+ weapon for a warrior. You want to play the what weapon is best for whatever class game the axe is for the Beastmaster! But for people that agree with guy, who is the Great Sword for? Warriors use Great Axe, PLD use sword and shield, Drk use Scythe. Well there one large reason many warriors and other classes use swords, they are plently in stock at AH, lower in price, many early lvl swords have nice stat modifiers like this sword. Look at the AH and price yourself a lvl whatever great axe then compare to a sword, its a LARGE difference, that is if the great axe is even in stock. The difference in axe and sword is like a couple damage points traded for slower swing times. This sword is better than any axe, Great Sword, or Great axe available to a warrior at lvl 11, so why is it sooo bad for warrior to use this?
Bee Spathas are cheap and easy to make. Use that 5-8k on raising your alchemy. It's easy to make gil off making them and you have the chance of getting a +1. This is how I ended up getting my +1. But if you don't want to spend that kinda time waiting to make one; buying would be a lot quicker but a lot more hurtful on the wallet in the long run.
I got it just today, someone was offloading it for only 3.5k! He was happy because he got gil, and I was happy because I saved 1.5k off the price (usual price in Bastok on Asura is 5-6k).
I got this at lvl 11 and now a lvl 17 rdm and i will use this for as long as i can. I paid 8500 for it and it was worth every penny and i bet i can get my money back when i do sell it so i am not out anything
I bought this weapon as soon as i turned lv 11 (or i should say my bf who is also an elvaan WAR bought it for me.) 6.5k! ~_~ but I'm now lv 17 (close to 18) and you can definately tell the difference w/ the accuracy. I'd say it is well worth it... gonna change to a graat sword as soon as I turn lv 18 though. ^^
I agree as well.Great weapon. I have used it untill my 22lvl. Just got the gil for a flame sword. Bought it for 18k in Juno. That is 12k difference than what it sells for in San D'oria at 30k a pop.
Lorac lvl.22 Elvaan warrior San D'oria Cerebus server
If all you can use are one handed swords, then you are correct...DO NOT waste your gil on the Fire Sword. I have it also, and I prefer this one. At 18...spend that Gil (and much more, Hehe) on a Longsword+1. Good Luck and Good Journeys.
