This earring is currently selling on Fairy Server in Jeuno from 160,000 to 170,000 gil.
Um...why is it worth that much?
Because earrings rarely give good benefits- BLM/RDM need as much INT as they can get to increase spell damage and reduce resists.

I also got the Tapestry by accident helping someone get their 3 keys for Kazam. I looked up the quest, and was happy to see I could use it for an earring I would wear (and eventually sell) so I got the quest and headed out. The walking part is lovely from Selbina, after talking to the mayor....but the key finding is even better. I found the best place for me to farm keys was in the Stroper Chyme room. He spawns very frequently, upstairs and downstairs. I went 0/12 in a couple hours lol, he finally gave me a key (immediately after a beetle gave me one orz) but never the good stuff. I didn't care really, I just wanted my dang key. I got an extra one for RSE now lol. Anyways, it's a simple quest, but could be time consuming if the key doesn't drop (take a thf?) and if you can't find the chest. After that, it's all downhill. Good luck and have fun. If you're right at the required level for this earring, you'd better take some help with you. Mages don't take hits well, and the Stroper's hit kinda hard...kinda. I was lvl 50 blm when I did this. Freeze made it alot easier to do.

I found the tapestry while hunting for the Kazham key and I didn't know what it was used for and neither did my linkshell, so when I finally found the key I asked people at the AH and someone told me it was for a quest to get an Ear ring that was worth 100k. So, I checked the AH to see what kind of ring it was. Juding from the steep price I thought it was a high level ring with a good affect. I was shocked when I found it. So now I think the people who pay top dollar for stuff this useless are stupid.

when you PT with a BLM who's spells are constantly being resisted because they refuse to buy any int gear because it costs "top dollar" then maybe you will realize that INT is a really important stat to have, not to mention the very few earrings that have +stats (the only other ones i know off the top of my head are the 72 hq ones, and the subjob ones)
Also, each INT added gives one more damage for spells.

not a bad sell for you guys who arnt going to do much mage work but i really think this earring is a good thing to have for BLM and RDM as there arnt many earrings around with these kind of stats anyone who says its worthless have never been or done poor jobs as mages is brilliant
Cassie, Wing/Dron, and Morion also give stats. Morion or these are well worth the money to Blm or Rdm because you will keep them for a really long time.
I just checked the price for this, 65k in Jeuno. About 2 months ago they were selling for 5-10k in the AH's in the other three cities.
This is rediculous people. 65k for 1 additional point of intelligence. I could see it if it had an MP bonus tied to it or something along those lines like the Morion's.
If 1 point of intelligence isn't worth your time to quest this. Neither is the 65k. Just my thought's

I know what you mean, i just sold this ring for 90k on my server lol. I would NEVER pay that much for this ring, especially since the quest is easy to do lol.
100k for this earring alone is common. The quest is quite easy though. I wonder why they would rather buy it than quest for it.
one reason may be that to get they key safely you need a job of a much higher level than the item unless you have help. another may be that you hate chest hunting (in wich case AF gear will really suck for them :P)
one thing about it though is that this quest is not repeatable so anyone looking for 2 of these will have to buy a second.

Price on Carbuncle was up to over 100k last time I checked, kinda sucks for the people that don't quest this item. Should be fairly easy given that people who would want this item can kill the mob's with little trouble ^^ especially since it's pretty specific to BLM and RDM.
the only problem is, I was trying to get my mithra rse gloves when I got the old papers instead...

yeah blm's pay extremly high amounts of gil for INT......... on Garuda the Morion Tathlum is 100k... can't remember what Morion Earring is. but i really need to pick up this quest and go take my blm out and Thundaga lots of mobs ^_~. fun fun fun fun fun

I am on Gilgamesh server and Cunning Earrings are only 6,000 gil. I am not a BLM so I would sell the Earring. I find that Gilgamesh is one of the less exspencive servers.

This earring is sooo helpful. I was getting really mad that i would have to farm up 100k for a morion earring but than this ring came out. I think i rather do the quest for it cuz with some lvl 40-50 help its rather easy.
Bought for 44k a piece and it's worth every cent. It's just as good as the Morion Earrings for me because, as a taru, I don't need anymore MP ^^! Great earring, if you dont have/need morion!

Definately worth it, but I bought mine for 20k in Ifrit, price ranges from 20-40k now.
The morion earring was going for 100k+, price dropping like crazy. Down to 80k or so. The +4 mp is really useless unless your a galkaan, but then I'd just suggest you go for astral ring and RSE.

Got this last night, I figure I'll tell ya'll how to do it:
Obtain this from a quest in SANDO:
Fine SOBANE (sp?) in a house inside Northern Sandoria. (Its near that large house in watchman's alley, or bust widescan) She tells you she has a very big secret and that you can't tell anyone and she wants a CATHEDRAL TAPESTRY to prove your worthyness. These are dropped off Orcish Fighters, (Ghelsba Outpost, Grotto, solable at roughly level 30)(not cursemakers and seargents as far as I can tell.) I brought my TH2 and it dropped on the 3rd one. Its EX/RARE so don't expect to buy it.
Bring that back to the lady and she'll tell you the story about a knight trying to regain his lost honor. Talking to her after the cutscene reveals she wants you to check Selbina for this knight's mother.
Head to Selbina and talk to our good ol' RICH mayor ABELHARD (sp again?) who gives you this shpeil about not digging through other people's pasts. Funny...he's a history buff...and he tells you a bit about Ordelle's caves and its founder, and the pages from his life story that are missing. HmMMMMm, now WHERE would the pages from a book about the founder of Ordelles Cave be? Shakrami right?
Head to Ordelles and start searching for a treasure chest. (Assuming you already have a key - keys drop from Stropers, Goblin Furriers/Shaman/Smithys and elementals and of course, the chyme.) To walk through aggro free you need to be level 48. Wave to all the gilsellers hunting the chyme, as that will probably be where you find the chest. One of the new chyme spawns is near 8 of the chest pop points. If you need help finding the chest pop points, I'm sorry I don't have the link I used, but if you search, ye shall find.
In the chest are the torn pages. Hook up Abelhard with them, and he tells you the knight's mom is dead. Great, thanks bud. But I guess you can't blame him, he's forked over 40k if you've done all the tablets.
Return with this news to the lady in Sandoria and you get 3.5k (I think) and an earring. Selling for 30k right now on Gilgamesh, DOUBT it will stay that high, come on, INT +1.

Actually since not many earrings give u INT its very sought after for us mages that already have INT boosts in other slots.

as for INT earrings, one of my jobs is a 66BLM (Linkle - Odin), we do pay for our INT >.< I had paid 100k for both my morion earrings, (of which I sold one, and now have a Moldavite Earring). but Morion Earring +1's for only 1 more INT point (and some mp) cost anywhere from 700-900k on our server... and yes... people do pay these prices. Same goes with neckwear. Black Neckerchief is only INT neck piece for blm's, until with update Philomath Stole(58?)came out (INT+3) which is selling for 300-750k on our server. So yes... blm's will indeed pay insane prices for their INT as with no INT you will miss a lot. (...Nothing like wasting 120 mp to only hit a mob for 100 dmg -.- )

you scoff at INT+1, but there are no other earrings at all that give an INT boost, or anything else worth while (except the Rare/Ex Elemental Skill earring) for a Black mage.
Except for the Morion earring (and INT+2 on the +1) and this beauty.
I hope that with this easy quest, the price will go down, but don't count on it too much just yet. High level BLMs are willing to pay lots of cash for an INT+1 earring, and until that market is saturated, this will fetch a pretty penny.
Now if only the Morion Tathlum would drop in price, that would be nice. (That's a one time throwing weapon that's popular amongst BLMs, because just equipping it gives INT+1, just risky because you risk losing it if you hit a /range macro by accident. And yes, I've done that with my fortune egg >_< )

The Morion earrings sell for 120k all day long in Lakshmi. That's only INT +1 and MP +4...I was saving for a second Morion earring when I saw these Cunning earrings for sale at the AH. Was glad to pick up another INT +1 for only 48k. Thanks for saying how to go about that quest. I had no clue where those earrings came from all of a sudden. Now i'm considering wether or not I want to sell this Morion earring i've got and quest another Cunning, or just keep it just cause I already have it. I'll figure it out. All depends on my current gil situation through out the next few weeks. Anyhow, thanks for the info Aidrian.
