JUST did this ENM as BLM. went in completely unprepared lol. i had a melon pie and 2 yag drinks. went in did flare for 1K dmg then started the fight. used up my MP doin the best tier 3 spells i had and drain and aspir and such. when i ran outa MP i went for manafont. unfortunatly i spent most of my Manafont time having to stun him since he did manafont at the same time. did flood, tornado, and quake at me but i got to stun them. landed firaga 2 though for 500 dmg. manafont wore off and i had to rely on a yag drink to get my mp up to drain and aspir ~.~. at that point i was at 50 HP so i figured i lost but drain saved me for a nice 200 hp. then i finished him off with water for 20 dmg (@_@). hehe good luck. dont take my method it wasnt very good >_> i was lucky to win. take care
I've had this earring since 3 days after the patch for this ENM. I've used it several times and it hasn't brought my damage up by even a point. It could be labeled wrong and help with ranged accuracy or my ranged attack is already capped.
Once your attack has reached a certain level in comparison to the monsters you're fighting, no bonuses are really going to help it; you'd be better off boosting accuracy, STR, or AGI for RNG in particular.

But...compared to melee weapons, ranged attack caps ridiculously high. Ex: on Greater Colibri, ranged attack caps at 1100.
The more likely explanation is that OP was in the ranged attack "deadzone" between which max damage won't increase. It's narrow (like a 30 attack range in higher levels) but it exists. Only lower damage will increase.
I would think this earring would give racc instead of ratt, seeing as the name is "deadeye" =/. SE seriously needs pull their head out of their tails or something.
LOL Yes I did....although it took me writing this response to see the correlation. Although now that I am sitting here laughing at myself missing your origonal point, I find myself thinking one could argue an assassin would have to be accurate indeed. One hit is all they would likely get to get their job done effeciently ;)
Can someone post some damage comparisons with and without earring. I wonder what effect it has on damage output. It's possible that if the RNG strengh isn't that high, then the damage output curve would already be reached, thus this wouldn't have that much of an affect
Everyone keeps mentioning "afford" it's an ENM battle item...if it drops it's free! ENM battles are like BCNM but require no orbs at all in order to activate, you will just need to get the quest from an NPC.
Although on one note... you have to gamble to get into this ENM, so it is not free. It COULD only cost 1gil (if you are SUPER lucky with the die roll and kill it on the first try) but that is highly unlikely. I spent 22k to get in and lost my first go around.
i don't understand enchantments... ...so is the idea that this item can only be used 20 times, with a 30 second cast time, and a 30 minute recast time? or it lasts for 30 minutes, with a 30 second cast and recast time?
or does it last for 30 hours, with a 30 minute recast time? (Instant cast time?)
I belive it means it can be used once every 30 minutes (cool down time if you will) and it takes 30 seconds to charge (the time between equipping the item and the name turning blue allowing you to actually use the enchantment). Also the 20 charges means it can only be used 20 times. Items with a charge of 1/1 can be used unlimited times but usually have a very long cool down.
I agree, it is pretty cool, but wouldnt it be cooler if Square Enix was to put in an Item Recharge NPC? that recharges enchanted items for a certain amount of gil depending on the enchantment? Yes, Yes it would be.
