This AF is only obtainable after you have compleated
AF1 for Peregrine and AF2 for Drachen Braise (Legs)
you can then go to Quick Sand caves and open the coffer
you will only recieve the Drachen Greaves if you open the coffer
AS DRG, so get plenty of Snk+Invis items if you dont have /whm
the same goes for all other af that is recieved directly from a coffer
you must be that job, but if its key item it doesnt matter.

This is not completely true, you only have to start the Drachen Braise quest. I just tested this out my self by opening the coffer before starting the quest and received the map instead. I then started the quest in San Doria, but did not finish it. When I opened the coffer the next time I received these. Just a heads up.
The STR on Mithra Gaiters is too good to pass up, but the Drachen Greaves give a bonus to Jump, so just swap them in your Jump/High Jump macros:

I went and got my Drachen boots just the other day right after getting the key and killing dark spark for my rachen Finger Gauntlets (56 Drg now) I was 54 at the time and decided to sneak myself through the caves to try and find that coffer since i had already gotten the key leveling up there. It was a pain in the *** with no map, and the second time I got kind of sloppy and after walking out of the caves I forgot to sneak myself. Got aggroed by two vt antican mages and died lol. But that didnt keep me down. I wet back, entered the caves from East Altepa, dropped down, went into the first room on my left, and there was the chest. Got my greaves and warped out before the ants noticed me ^.^

So, the prequisites are, Af (Pregrine) Af (Drachen Brais) start Af (Drachen Finger Gauntlets) then just get the greaves out of the coffer. After that you can get your mail from Ifrit's cauldron too. Then get your party together for the shadows fight after getting the rk challenge for the armet = Good luck to everyone going for their af ^.^

Why is the prerequisate for this lvl 54 armor quest the quest for the level 56 armor? Do I really have to get the gloves before I can even get the feet?
As far as I have observed what the boots do is add a multiplier to your Jump,sort of like what Viper Bite does with Sneak Attack.It seems to be a x2 multiplier.With Double Attack and/or a critical hit this can bounce up to 4x damage at times.In my personal opinion,this trait is by far superior than 4 accuracy from those volans greaves.

ok I"m now lvl 50 and have been to the caves many times I"m sure I can get the boots but do I have to talk to someone first or does it automatically start when I hit 50 and have my AF weapon
guys,lemme get an opinion here,iam debating whether i should macro in my Volans Greaves or these for Jump.....what effect do these have on jump that would make them greater than Jump Acc +4?
Ummm, our AF is all sexy and stuff....but I have a question. I'm a mithra and my RSE boots provide +3 Str. Is the Drachen Greaves worth switching to?
I saw this posted awhile ago, so what I may say may not matter, but if it only gives +3 STR then yeah, but since its RSE I doubt that, what else does it have?
I did the lv 56 and lv 52 AFs along with 42 of course, but didn't do this one. Does Guslum start a quest for this or do you just go and open the coffer? Or just have activated the guantlets quest?

1 sneak oil, 1 warp scroll and about 3 minutes is all that this one cost me! I entered Quicksand Caves at the H-10 entrance of East Altepa. I followed the hallway west all the way to the end and there was the Coffer Chest!

No its correct they add 12 hp
If I remember correctly, this piece of equipment doesn't give +12 HP, but instead +20 HP.

lol i got mine in 15min everyone told me it would take hours but im glad i got them quick^^ hope i do as well on the other coffers >.>
ive spent over 50k gil on silent oils and i havent seen a coffer yet. ive followed the info on the site that everyones been passing around and by now i pretty much know all of the spawn points by heart.
is there anything im doing wrong? im so close to just forgeting about AF. how do you people do it? lol
EDIT: nevermind, i finally got it this morning. these boots better be worth the 60k. lol

it is far easier to just /whm so that you wotn need to spend money on anything. thats what i did. found it in 30 mins. its a pain to do that without a map, but mystery tour has a good map with spawn points marked. you just gotta search for them
i gots me key, just gotta go find this thing. I have already activated the hands quest, hopefully now i can open the chest and get my boots.Ima try to do tonight, buy me 2 stacks of silent oils and go on the merry. Purple pimpness 1/5 so far.

Man I lucked out. I went to pt in qc and we werent getting any drops either. My LS has a set pt that was there playing there as well and as my pt and I were killing a bettle, i got an ls message that said "John disband pt quick we got a key! get over here and we'll invite u real quick. My pt killed the bettle, i disband pt and ran like hell to my ls'spt joined in, lotted key recieved key and ran back to my pt and explained the situation. I got lucky.

Thanks your post helped a lot. I went to the southern L shape, walked in a little bit and right in a crevise was the coffer. I got aggro after i opened the chest but didn't die.

I found the coffer and only had to use one silent oil. I used the southern "L" shaped entrance to Quicksands and fell throught the sand trap. the coffer was on a cliff I dropped onto from the main room after falling. As soon as i opened coffer, DC ant popped and i inadvertantely blood-ported lol. Still waiting for SP to lvl up so i can equip Hope this helps.

So there are 2 types of keys? Treasure and Coffer?
I got my Drachen Greaves before reading this; after I finished my AF pants, but before I started the AF gauntlets. I opened the chest and got the greaves just fine. As far as I can tell all you need is to have acquired your AF pants to get the greaves as I started the gauntlets quest after I already acquired and could wear the greaves.

Grrr I've been hunting for a key for days now and not a single drop! I even had a level 55 THF come with me for treasure hunter II....Still nothing! I'm killing all the mobs that people say drop the keys...yet not a single key was found ; ; Any advice other than to keep trying? lol

All you need to do is activate the Drachen Finger gauntles quest. but you must have done the Weapon AF and the Drachen Brais qeust. talk to gulsum in Upperjeuno in the armor shop, he is by the door. then all you need is a Quicksands coffer key, then just find the coffer and you get them. but the finger gauntlet quest MUST be active, doesnt have to be complete.
Anyone know a good location to start at in quicksand caves? im just getting lost and wasting gil on Silent oils..
