For those wondering, this does give you the Bird Killer effect. While soloing Colibri as 70 DRG/WHM with this equipped, I was able to intimidate the birds.
Our server no longer has a small army of RMT's camping this guy. Is the same happening with other servers as well?
Soloed this bird today and his lil Mamool Ja friend as 75 THF/NIN. Took a little bit longer than the times I had friends help but meh, I was bored. I reccomend capped/merited evasion and marksmenship.
All in all its pretty easy, just time consuming...as long as you keep the bird slept with bolts while you kill the beast (I popped a sushi when the Mammool Ja popped to make it easy to sleep the bird). Basically you need all the bolts a thf can use to do this effectively. Blind bolts proved usefule...bloody bolts (as always main source of DOT/TP and overall survivability. Venom/Acid bolts spead things up a bit.
Dropped his axe and the earring. Not too shabby Axe npcs for 13k and earrign is on AH right now for 85k so not too bad for 15 minutes work...nice.

i was just in the area killing birds, when 3 RMTs showed up, the NM popped, i claimed alone as PLD/RDM, got a SMN from LS to come out and we died. by that time a second group of RMTs showed up. now one of the groups claimed the bird, while the other group claimed the mamool we had popped. Unfortunately for the group with the bird, the other group wasn't killing the mamool, this meant unlimited rewards. RMT-MPK-RMT and hilarity ensues. then another group of RMTs show up. In the end there were 12 RMTs for a 500k drop. They getting a little desperate.
this isnt a 2-4 or a 4-6 hour pop. its a fairly strict 2 hour pop. i know this because im personally 5/7 on the earring, and now RMTs are camping it until a big enough group comes along that they decide the odds are against them.

i recently recieved this earing from killing the mob, so here is some info if you are looking to kill it and get one your self.
The bird will seem easy at first, but arround 25% hp left is will spawn a Bst and will recover to 100% health. at this point it is best to have some one sleep the bird (the bird has reflect like Colbri so becareful wich spells you cast) and take out its mamool master, if you try to kill the bird first it will keep recovering to 100% hp. once the mamool has been defeated finishing off the bird is a breeze.
As far as i can tell the bird is a 2-4 hour spawn and the earing is a 100% drop currently going for 1mil on Ramuh.
And the "Bird Killer" works quite nice.

I've killed this twice with some friends, and the second time it dropped nothing. So I can safely say that it's not a 100% drop.

my bad on the 100% drop rate, first 2 kills droped when i had made original post, next 2 didnt, definatly not a 100% drop on earing or axe. and as far as the <pos> is concerned.... its {over there} with some Lesser Colbri.

I would like to make a note as you seemed to have not noticed. The bird will not keep recovering to 100% if you don't kill the bst. The bst uses the bst ability Reward, thus recovering the birds HP. In any case the fight is a lot easier if you just kill the bst when it spawns.
now I understand people want to keep NM info they know about as secret as possible, but how about a <pos> on the pop?
