This is actually more useful than adaman, just for the HP bonus. Adaman only adds maybe 7 or so def, one enmity and some mp. I've used it at 75 with no real discerneable difference from the adaman armor.
Just use this, and get a dd body piece (hauby preferrably) and you pretty much are set till relic.

I finally got my Surcoat! Thanks to everyone who helped, we had a 75 THF, 75 SAM, 66 PLD, 70 WHM, and a 60 RDM along with myself 60 PLD. We didn't have any trouble at all. Thanks Ronii, Ddlysins, Mdmtempest, Saxon... You guys were great. Started out with the 2 PLDs and the WHM partying with the RDM and we all ganged up on the PLD. SAM and THF pwned the RNG and then we wiped the floor with the PLD... Done and done, it could've gone much differently, but we did well.

so getting the coffer key was easy had a 75 thf and mnk kill a couple demons we all warp back, getting the coffer open was alot harder till i found out the map is a simple stupid quest, however for the davio fight i had 1 75 whm nin and a 75 rdm duo the nms while drunk and they even started off by attacking one eye lol
You definatley should use this thing until either Lord's Cuirass or Koeinig / Adaman people might use the Darksteel Cuirass for looks but in exp this is your best choice.

ok i dunno if anyone else has seen this but im a lvl 66 pld and i have seen plds putting there AFs away and instead getting darksteel armor....all i have to say is huh!? why would someone take darksteel over AFs as a pld? can someone explain why? As far as i thought PLD AFs were what u used till 73 but ive been seeing more and more pld with darksteel gear on. I dont understand why they would sac a bunch om emnity for maybe the mp+? but you lose all that hp+ from your afs...someone please tell me how using darksteel armor as a 66-72 pld works?

Are you sure it wasn't darksteel cuirass? That's physical damage -3%, which can be a nice bit of damage reduction, plus it stacks with earth staff. That's almost 1/4 of the total damage gone, right there.
Plus, sometimes they can make it themselves. Though I wouldn't use it in lieu of the surcoat, it's a nice alternative until you get it, if you get the surcoat late.

just got my af3.

60pld/war <--(me) 59whm/smn 75rdm/nin 75rdm/drk 75thf/nin 75whm/nin
myself and 59 whm were healers and didnt even have to heal. was a easy fight. we casted ownage hands down. lasted about 3 minutes tops and no one used their 2hour. all friends of mine and would like to thank them. gl to all of u out there getting this armor, worth it.

Just found this page today searching for pics of the relic armor dropped in Dynamis :) The paladin set looks amazing, kinda beefy and more like the Iron Muskateers, i think the grey really makes this armor stand out, am loving the smooth lines.

^^ from what i can work out it starts at level 71 and you get one piece up to level 75, I guess in the same order as the AF armour. 71 - boots, 72 - hands, 73 - coronet, 74 - legs, 75 - body. Relics are basically the level 70 version of the 60 AFS.

Okay, I just finished this quest with a couple of people from my LS.
The Orc fight is't -as- bad as some make it out to be (though I can see it being pretty tough if you don't know the people you are doing it with).
I had some very good help for this, and managed to do it with a party of 5.
Set up was:
PLD59(me), PLD75, RDM72, SAM75, RNG75
when I spawned the orcs, I grabbed the PLD while the other 4 worked on the RNG, I was able to tank the PLD fairly easy with the help of some Curing from the RDM and my 2hr, my goal was to live long enough for the others to take down the RNG. The PLD wasn't hitting too hard, about 80 damage per hit (I was using my Earth Staff, but I had forgotten to bring food). It only took about 3 or 4 minutes for the RNG orc to die, and after that I stopped trying to hold the hate of the PLD while the 75 PLD took over, at this point in time the other orcs started to respawn and it was looking kindda shaky. However the RDM slept all the links and when the PLD was at about half HP the SAM 2hrd and hit it with 3 big Weapon Skills. This dropped it to just under about 1 tenth of it's hp, from there it was just a matter of time before it died. We finished off the links and escaped out after I traded the well weight.
Basically, this is a really fun fight if you know some high lvl people, and the coat is very very nice.

Geez. Castle Zvhal Bailey'd coffer and key is a pain in the ***. I got the key in a party after the first key got lost when someone dropped alliance trying to cheat there way. Well we were teleporting out thinking oh well no more keys when no one got one then a ahriham pops i say wait the whm inturupts her spell and we attack the ahriham. Low-and-behold the key drops bam i lot and get it. Well 5 levels later at 60 i go back with a 73 rdm to find the coffer chest we both die. then i got back with a differnt rdm level 70 after about 3 hours of searching i find the coffer oh yeah funny thing we killed a ahriham there as soon as we got there to test our power and the coffer key drops lol. Well i see the coffer in the four door room but that ******* big hole is in the way so i fall down the back hole walk up go to the next hole fall down wrong hole get back up and go down the ne hole and see the coffer jump down a ledge open the coffer got my gd paintbrush. WOOOO as if that wasent enough. i had to 2 hour /instawarp scroll out (the rdm escaped due to mass link form god knows where) well that was about 2 hours ago now later on today im going to kill the orcs in davoi which compaired to the coffer will be a peice of cake. CASTLE ZVHALL SUX. Well its nice to be pld and have hard af's for one thing they are all good and you have a special sense of pride when/if you get them. If you dont have af and your not a pld ppl consider you to be a gill seller. unless you have something better.

Yes there is a second set of Artifact armor. It can be gotten as a drop from Dynamis areas.

Can anybody reply to this post answering this question? Is there other kind of AF armor available for every job class besides the ones that can be worn in the 50's and middle 60's? For instance, I heard there is another kind of AF armor (AF part 2 or something), which are to be worn in the higher levels, from 65-75. Is suppose to be better than the firsts AF pieces. Is all of this true. If so, How can I get it or where in allakhazam can I find it? Thank you!

The AF2 of the paladin is the Vallor armor u can see it in the section equipment/armor

Well, I think you may be referring to the AF2, or relic armor, like some may call them. These "upgraded AF" are gotten through extremely rare drops in Dynamis. I wish I could tell you more, but as I am merely level 60 myself and only recently decked in full AF, I still have a bit of progress to do before I can even think of getting there. As far as Paladins are concerned, though, I can tell you that the pieces form the Valor set, whereas the AF set forms the Gallant set. If you'd like more info on both these sets, you'd probably want to check this site's equipement database.

This body is actually better than adaman cuirass for tanking HNMs. In EXP cuirass is maybe a little better, but, this thing is just a fine AF armor. And, in addition, all Paladin AF can be worn until 73, or even taken to 75...^^

and plus unless u can make that armor it never on sell least then 1 or 2 mill so why pay for that pld AF is good until 70 or u can go with it until 73 it up to u . what even better enmity = hate that make it even more easy to keep hate ^^

The Byrnie +1 especially has some stats that are hard to beat, particularly that Attack bonus which will help you hold the hate just as effectively.

I don't think this AF3 NM is as hard as WHM's one. But then u gotta include the Zvahl key/coffer hunting as well. Poor paladins they need 4 coffer keys. =(

This is some of the best looking armor in the game. Too bad I'm a Rdm...I wish I had switched to Pld, but I've never lvled my Pld lol. Oh well, maybe I'll do Pld in the future.

need 2-3 alliances 60+ for the orc bosses in davoi GL this is one of the hardest af quests
