today a guy in a skillup party told me that if you wear full hecatomb set, the 55%slow becomes 55%haste...is that true?I think it's a strange thing...any of you have the full set?

Many Thfs do not use this as thier maine body peice all the time.
Many will swap it in when they do a weaponskill for the +12 Str.
Also, though slow +13% is bad for a Thf/nin, when slowed you gain more TP per swing. So one wearing full Hectacomb may swing a dagger like a Greatsword, but they also get the TP as if it was a greatsword.
Actually the effect of +slow gear is different to the effect of spell haste, even if you take into account the opposite effect. If you want to perform a true scientific test, find someone with actual hecatomb armour and ask them if their tp per hit changes with or without this gear.
It's pretty good for DRG, if you do what the below post says about macroing it in when you WS.. other than that I see no other real point cause the Slow+ hurts...
Actually, the hecatomb set is some of the best armor a drg could ever use, that includes final equipment as well, and our 3 JSE sets that are almost worthless except for some pieces. It has lagre ammounts of str(+25), good dex (+15), adds +10 to acc, and it's leg piece does ALMOST the same ammount of att as the entire dusk set. These stats are slightly off because i didnt add the cap stats in as well because you will most likely use an Optical Hat over the cap.
okay for everyone wondering what the deal is with the slow % no its not good for a thf....you want to be as fast as possible with thf....but whats great is when you SaTa, or Ws...you just macro the equip in...Example with my thf I have acc equip but when im about to skillchain I hit a macro and my equip changes to Dex and Attack equip. So just use your other equip when your about to skillchain or Sa, hit the equip macro...full Hectacomb equip...Awesome damage and no - slow % issues ;-) Ohh yeah and its also great for running around and looking like a badass, lol

i think a war/(enter job with magic here) could use this since we get some nice haste items (i.e. speed belt, rune cutter, byakkos haidate) ...just my 2 cents if anyone was wondering if the slow+13% was worth the other stats *edit: thought mnks could equip it ><
A friend of mine on Bismarck has this, and in game it looks absolutely awsome, he has kept his original Scorp Harness however, I believe he said it was better for pulling with.
He also has the KB Dex + 3 earing, Kraken club , Empy Pin, etc etc etc ^ ^ nice.
Yes, at higher levels Thf make great blink tanks with their great evasion skills(yes even better than nin). Thf's only problem with tanking is holding hate, which any other tanking job can do no problem.
You have to get the necessary abjuration (in this case, Neptunal Abjuration: Body, which drops off of Kirin), then you trade the abjuration and cursed piece of equipment to a certain NPC in the Church in Northern San d'Oria. I don't remember his name, but he'll talk about equipment that's not meant for mortals and such. When you trade him these, he'll give you the new piece of equipment. I'm not sure, however, if you have to wait a certain amount of time and return or if it's instant.
I'm not sure, however, if you have to wait a certain amount of time and return or if it's instant.
After you trade in the Abjuration Paper and the Cursed Item the NPC will say a few words, then uncurse the Cursed Item right there and give it to you, so to answer your thought: It's pretty much instant.
This is merely speculation, but it seems to me that "Slow +13%" would be something like +13% that you will give the additional effect of "slow" when you hit. I don't know, just a thought.
I can't say you are wrong or not but it would say "additional effect: slow 13%" if it ment it gave slow. Like most of the others below I believe it gives you slow 13%.
Looks cool, I saw someone at the Airship Dock in Sandy wearing it ^^ a JP player, so I couldn't really ask much about it.
I think the "Slow +13%" means your attack speed is lowered, since that's what slow does. But I think if it decreased movement speed, it'd say so, like Dusk armor.
the Slow+13%... does that mean it slows your movements down by 13%?
so if you had the full set of Hecatomb gear, it'd slow you down about 50% of your regular speed?
Kinda seems unfair, all other Abdj gear like Zenith or Crimson..etc dont really have a downside to them. Maybe i'm just reading it wrong... but i'd figure it'd say Haste+13% if it actualy sped you up.
Almost all Abjuration gear does have a downside, it just isn't as major as Slow. Zenith has -HP and -Evasion, Koenig has -STR and -DEX, Adaman has -HP -MP -MND -INT and -Evasion, and Shura has -HP. The only set that doesn't have a downside is Crimson. Having +Slow effect is of course worse than the downsides of the other sets however a Tarutaru with full Zenith gear doesn't work well due to the -HP, a PLD with full Koenig doesn't work well because of no +Enmity and such a reduction of STR and DEX, so other sets have their problems as well.
Actually Crismon Gear has a hidden drawback. If you ever fight a Dragon in full Crimson gear you'll probably never get an attack off.
Crimson Gear has a hidden effect that gives you pretty much the opposite of Dragon killer. If you fight a Dragon type monster (Bune, Fafnir, Ash Dragon etc) it actually gives that monster the ability to intimidate you, and the more crimson you have on, the more the effect procs.
Actually, that's incorrect. Crimson gear basically makes it as if you yourself were a dragon. This meaning that mobs/players with "Dragon Killer" (Demons, DRGs, etc.) will have a chance to intimidate you.
this is a great post, but some of it is incorrect, for example: the adaman hauberk has no additional downside, except that of the regular hauberk, -10 evasion.. there is no -hp -mp or -mnd -int or any of that.... the -10 evasion is nothing either, as all of drk's gear gives -evasion... this is only one error i noticed, but i gave you a bump anyway ^^
It seems you need to kill some high lv HNMs. According to Mystery Tour, you need to kill Kirin (one of the gods) and Aspidochelone for the Neptunal Abjuration: Body. Once you purify the Cursed Harness you get the Hecatomb Harness. I believe the Hecatomb Harness +1 comes from purifying Cursed Harness -1 (the +1 variation of the Cursed Harness, my guess is they thought it would make sense to make the HQ would be -1 cause of it being cursed and all).
I've surfing a lot to find out how and where to get this very nice gear. So far this is what I've been pulling together from other sources. Thanks to Bennykun from this thread, I think it does make sense to purify cursed items in a church and I'd go along with that. I just wanted to share what I thought about this gear. If I'm wrong, so be it.
Oh, and the full Hecatomb set would take lots of luck, work, and time. Killing HNMs isn't easy. Getting the item to drop and have the winning lot is really tough. The gear is quiet nice though, but full gear would make 43% slower but really strong try +20 Attack, +36 Str along with the nice accuracy +10 Accuracy and +20 Dex and then the extra 59 Hp. I'm drooling thinking of it. That's not even looking at the +1 Gear :D~. One can only dream of that gear.
Edit: Missed that Aspidochelone also drops the Neptunal Abjuration: Body. He's a HNM Adamantoise.
