looks like a very nice end game piece for SAM. hmm id definately like to put thisin my WS macro when i hit 75^^
well finally broke down and bought one of these seeing as how im like 6-7 away or more for drop rank in my HNMLS LOL....selling for 4-5mil tops on Caitsith now.....dreamy stuff indeed.....7 Osodes have dropped in my 10 Kirin wins.....with 3 differnt LS now....I got one for my Mnk and NIN

First hello, and this is my first post!!! Well moving along. The mp+30 is a waste for normal melee but if such war has a Rune Axe equipped (3mp/tick for regen effect) and Walahra Turban (which most wars have on now), that would be 60mp for any melee to have. I not including another other armors that give mp, but you get my point. Have a rdm throw refresh and you can easily see how the 30mp from this Osode would be nice.
Wouldn't slapping Regen on a WAR be more useful?
I'm not giving a warrior a refresh you fool.

Admittedly not something you'd do all the time, but it's a novel concept, haste+9% from the axe frees up some other slots to beef up your power. Interesting idea for say a warrior and a rdm who adventure together frequently.

its nice gear for mnk...but its not the best... Shura Togi or Shura Togi+1 is. osode is more of a gear swap.
i feel bad for kirin. He's a SMN and can't wear his own jacket. Poor manty ; ;
I am happy he can't wear this, he is a toughy already without all these extra stats being added ^.^

Pretty much. I've seen at least 2-300 people with the osode, so much so that now it's getting ridiculous. I've killed Kirin a whole bunch of times with my old HNMLS and we got 2 osodes. I don't know how often you have to kill that ******* for one, but as DRK, I can't wear it so I don't really care. However, once I get MNK to 75 I'll want one, unfortunately, by then everybody but me will have one just like with Scorpion harness. Now that I finally have one of those, every melee I see has one so it's nothing special anymore.
its not about being the only one with it, its about it being probably the best body armor in the game and wearing because it makes you stronger
Every melee that can wear this body can wear better stuff. Depite its high STR and DEX, Shura Togi, Adaman Hauberk, Haubergeon/Hauberk, and Koga Chainmail is a lot better just because of the accuracy bonus along w/ STR, DEX, and/or Attk bonus. For the choice of higher DoT damage vs. DoT accuracy+damage, Osode is meh. In terms of WS, ACC couple with STR and ATTK is much better than than stand alone STR and DEX. Consistancy > higher peak WS damage.
For RNG, this is probably the best piece for them if they gear poperly w/ the balance of Rattk and Racc.

To be quite honest, every job that can equip this has other gear that is great for them, other than BST. Aside from BST solo gear, there is nothing for us, yes we get Armada or something, but that is the worst piece of **** for a BST known to man.

Well... the new Lv70 Body Kyudogi +1 seems to give the Osode a good run for the money for RNG... I, of course, have not tested the 2 >.> but from looking at the stats i would probably choose the Kyudogi. Both are probably equally as irritating to obtain tho XD.

haha im all for that!! and slightly off topic, slightly on: bc im a rng, i got the map of the palace before anyone bc i need to be able to efficiently widescan so all you rngs, make sure you get that map lol
after reading most of these posts, I'm not even sure its worth the hastle. Its an amazing piece of armor, but good lawd! I noticed that not every lvl 75 war,mnk,bst,brd,rng,sam,nin has one of these... maybe, just maybe I can survive without it too. lol

The real fact about this armor, is it seldom goes to who needs it most. A kirin fight is an event thats precursored by days of Sky NMs, collecting pop items, killing gods, and finally a kirin fight, which depending on your LS can take 20 minutes to 4 hours. It goes to the person who can wear it who deserves it the most 90% of the time, that is in Linkshells that actually stay together.

Call me a whiner or whatever, but it's not just me, I've seen it happen to other ls mates as well. Common everyone, pimp out your DD's with DD gear....before it is given to your brds or other none DD jobs......

Bst is a "DD" job...However we don't have the job traits of a war/mnk/drk. We also don't have the str/dex of most DD, our pets do our main DD'n we just tack on to the pet damage numbers. So we need every advantage we can get to assist the LS in w/e.
From what you're saying is anyone who takes bst or brd to endgame can just assist everyone in getting all the cool ****, then maybe 3 years later after everyone...counting the newer DD's that joined the endgame LS long after you..all have the best armor possible. Then fine, let the two ****** jobs lot on it.

I definitely agree with Gyfford. Now I may be biased because I'm a bard, but BRD and BST get almost nothing from HNM - BRD can get Genbu's shield, and compete with BLM/RDM/WHM/SMN to get zenith (which, unless you're addicted to MP, isn't that useful except for the slacks). BST can get Adaman and Heca gear, which seems alright for DDing in XP parties but certainly doesn't have the soloing capability of the Osode. So really, NONE of the god/HNM gear is "better" for these two jobs as opposed to the other jobs that could wear them. That still doesn't change the fact that the Osode is arguably the BEST body piece that these two jobs can wear.
Both BRD and BST serve their purpose in HNM shells, yet by our MNK friend's logic, they shouldn't get any gear at all because other jobs can use it "more." So all the Zenith should go to the RDM/WHM/BLM/SMN, Heca to the DRG/THF, Adaman to the WAR/DRK, etc. So it's ok for us to help you get your endgame gear, but not get any ourselves? :/
I'm sure when most people are upgrading endgame gear, the first question on their minds is "what can I do to make myself the BEST <insertjobhere> that i possibly can?" Well for BRD and BST, part of the answer to that is the Osode. It may not help us to dish out a huge Chi Blast or a 1500 dmg WS, but it still helps us to do our job better - which is all it really does for all of the jobs that can wear it. As one of the few worthwhile pieces that BRDs/BSTs can get, why shouldn't we be able to spend our hard-earned points on it? After all, we've worked for it too...
And I think Gyfford is being optimistic that BRD/BST will get gear 3 years down the road if they pass on it for all the jobs that can use it "more." New DD are constantly being added to HNM shells... how about "never" for a more realistic assessment.
Now as far as Chi Blast goes, yeah, the Osode is awesome... every 3 minutes. XD Seems like a Shura Togi would be best for most xp situations though, whereas for a BST who both DDs and charms (and maybe even kites Kirin o.O), and a BRD who pulls/debuffs/sleeps (and maybe stands in front of grand dragons to ballad tanks O.o), this is a 24/7 piece. And of course, 2 MND etudes on the MNK would do a whole lot more than the Osode - so maybe telling your BRDs they don't "deserve" the best gear they can get is not the smartest thing in the world...

I'm a LVL75mnk, and all i can say is that guy is a selfish, greedy, grubby little boy. Not all mnk's think like him.
It is all part of the engame challenge. I all the god ear was given directly to me, it would not make endgame special or challenging. There would be no need to put the work in as you wouldnt have to - as all the gear goes to your jobs anyway.

If your linkshell makes people actually lot out for stuff like this then I'm kind of surprised. I see the Osode and the god gear go to the people who show up and who work hard.
For example, I go to sky every day we have events. I went today and spent 10 hours campign Ulli even though I have the stomach flu. As such, if say Zenith pants drop tomorrow while we're fighting Suzy I'll be above a WHM who never comes even though they may be more "useful" to a WHM over a RDM.
If you are there and you work hard, you get rewarded. That is what endgame is. It is all about dedication.

75 BST here - I wear my Osode everyday and play a DD role in merit parties and it helps my solo work a ton.
Pretty much you have no idea how BST works and I hope you NEVER get an Osode for being such an ***.
I disagree. BRD's can use an osode just as much as any other class. The CHR+10 is just as valuable to me and my linkshell as the MND+10 is to you. Just because it doesn't boost damage directly like a more potent chi blast would does not make it less valuable. The MP on this piece is also nice to help us keep you all on the front line standing.

STEEL CYCLONE.
STR and VIT based. Believe you me I'd value the +10 Str and +10 Vit over adaman hauberk's accuracy considering SATA/Steel Cyclone is a ONE HIT weaponskill that is guaranteed to do huge dmg at good tp and guaranteed to land with SATA so accuracy means precisely **** at that point.
Adaman/Armada for normal melee'ing, I'd take, being 75 war myself...
but Kirin's Osode and Genbu's Kabuto and the like for SATA/Steel Cyclone.

Good for bard too. MP always helps, AGI for speed, MND for curing, CHR for Elegy, Light.. 50 of it! for Lullaby. LS said in 10 weeks of attending regular events I get the chance to lot when we kill the dropper. Guess I can wait.
