I was doing a Promy-Holla run to finish my promys as rng/nin. we got to the boss where everyone buffed and used food. i decided to use rice dumpling b/c i had the feeling that i would die sometime during the fight and didn't want to waste a 3-hour food. anyways, i pull hate and surprisingly i get the message "The <Promy-Holla Boss> is intimidated by Maglauncher's presence" like 3 times in a row. i didn't have any shade gear on.. i was wearing all Noct +1 stuff, so i can't think of anything that would give me Empty Killer but these. It kinda makes sense when u read "Rice Dumplings are said to have the power to ward off evil spirits" in the item description. If they do give Empty Killer, these could be a great food for melee doing Promys. =D

Hope that helps

Nope. Tested it myself. One of your pt members probably used an anima (I forget which one exactly) that caused that to happen.

I see a lot of people makign a big deal out of the Acc +5 on these, but everyone needs to think about how much this actually does. It's VERY commonly believed that 1 skill lvl on any weapon = 1 acc/1 atk. It's also well believed that 2 dex = 1 acc. Ok, now, an A+ weapon caps at 276, so thats acc 276. Now, lets say you are a lvl 75 DD with a total of 70 dex, counting your gear - thats +35 acc for a current total of 276 +35 = 311. Now, lets add in commonly used gear for a DD - Ohat (acc +10) Hauby (acc +10) Life Belt (Acc +10) this puts our total at ACC = 341. Now of course, a LOT of other people will have other gear increasing acc, and/or Merits for their weapon of choice, but lets just say acc = 341 anyway. Acc +5 on this is less than 1.5% bonus at this lvl! COmpare that to bream sushi, which is ACC +16% (acc +55 based on acc 341, and boy does acc +55 ever make a diff!). Now, this food would probably be pretty great at LOWER levels, because acc +5 is more significant at lower levels, but at lower levels, VERY few people use expensive food, and this is going for about 25K a stack right now on my server. Personally, I would STILL rather use bream sushi at lower levels though, it's abotu half the price per stack, and you get a LOT more acc - but usually, below lvl 30, I just use attack food - meat jerky sells for 100gil from NPC's, and mithkabobs give no more atk bonus until jerky caps (around lvl 33), and these things certainly dont give any more attack than jerky (much less at low levels, actually). Just food for thought, to see actual numbers - I think this is a cool food, but theres MUCH better stuff out there, and for less money, depending on what you need.

Well, on my 51 ninja currently, and I have 234 attack. Okote, fed kyahan, storm gorget, swordbelt +1.

Rice dumplings cap at 225 from what I saw in the replies, which is 45 attack.

Now, all three acceptable meats-mithkas, chiefkas, and boiled cockatrice-cap significantly higher, but the difference in attack at low 50s is under 10, if not under 5.

Now if you recall, the xp grind starts to change for melees at the low 50s, as accuracy is much more valuable than previously noted. On most servers, 5acc is worth a few hundred thousand gil, minimum. the same amount in attack is on an assailants ring for a fourth the price.

Ill gladly take 5acc instead of 2STR and a few points of attack, atm. When Im missing out on 10 or more attack, give me a ring.

these are ideal for lower levels, idk if the +5 acc works all too well but i like to think it does, they have a cap on the attack i believe so dont use em like past 35.

hell no, this food is way better than lanterns, and it stacks, why would someone buy a non stackable food over a stackable? 20 % RA and Attack is great for sams and rangers. Well, any job can benefit from it

Used this Vs. a few other foods for my lvl 38 DRG in EXP party. I had ran out of Coeurl Subs and Dhalmel Pies. Was crafting and had some of these left over. I noticed a better hit rate and the attack bonus was low enough where I didn't pull hate off tank most of the time. Only times were Double Thrust + Jump + High Jump. The subs and pies I tended to pull hate more.

I have a char with Cooking skill @ 92, and I am running really broke from lvling other jobs. Can anyone give me some tips on what to make a good profit from? By the way, it doesnt necessarily have to be a speedy profit, I would just like some extra spending cash.

I noticed this has a requiremtn of 15 woodworking, and I was curious about losing my guild points. in order to go above 10 woodworking of course, I woudl need to take my test, and join the wood guild... if I do so, will I lose all of my guild points from cooking?

No, only way to lose guild points in one guild is to skill a craft to 28+, and then sign up for a GP contract at another guild(at which point the NPC warns you several times).

Don't buy Bamboo from Tenshodo, I found some the other day at the woodworking guild in North Sandy for a fraction of the price.
I am not sure but I think sticky rice can be bought from an NPC at Norg. Need to check that out first.

# Jan 21 2006 at 7:37 AM Rating: Decent
OK.. everyone is talking of "ooooo look at the rng atk%" and haven't acknowledged the fact this is accuracy AND attack food in one, so with that said...

Is the accuracy+5 just BS like a few of the items in alla or is it real? if it is real.. I can go on a rice indulgence from here on out. ***** sole sushi and mithka's if the accuracy is real on this thing.

i bought sum for my thf cuz i saw sum ppl talking abt it on LS and i really want attack, being a lvl 72 mithra im pretty much maxed on acc. with my dex being a base of 82 and AGI a base of 76. i bought sum ruby rings to help with my dmg but i may put the snipers back on and trade rubys in to start using this. besides, squid is 100k a stack now....... getting alil draining >.<
great rng food
# Nov 29 2005 at 11:25 PM Rating: Default
even after nerf patch rng can use these for a good 25% dmg bonus where sushi isnt needed, im glad not many know about this stuff 20k/stack would be double if others knew it was better than yellow curry for rng^^

If you plan ahead a little before you are skilling up cooking with these you can save some gil. With the cost of Taru rice these days its better to grow your own from Grain Seeds. The added bonus is the alternate result is coral fungus. Two of the more expensive ingredients grown from the same batch of seeds.

If you are really into power lvling your craft you can skip on skilling up Woodworking. You will break almost every synth but if you have the proper moghancement you can minimize materials lost and have nearly free skill ups.

what does woodworking have to do with cooking?! It doesnt take a carpenter to start a fire!
RE: wtf

The synth calls for a bamboo stick, to synth with wood, you need woodworking skill. I deal with it needing other crafts with cloth, needing woodworking isn't a big deal.

Notice the containers the dumplings are placed in.

Now I know I can light a match to a fire, but I probably can't make the container unless I knew wtf I should be doing.

Indirectly, it is right on Rocky's point. Carry on.

I got woodworking to 20 before I started these.

Despite the rarity of Coral Fungas and its soaring prices while I skilled up, I'd have to say it was the easiest and fastest skillup item at this level.

This was pure profit for me in the end, even after leveling wood (which also was profitable).

I used no support for the last 1.5 levels

And due to the scarity of ingrediants there were not many for sale at the ahm, so it sold almost immediately.
Wow,this Food is awesome for any DD Job.

This is a great food, I was an elvaan ranger teamed up with a mithra ranger with nearly identical gear (he/she had the empy hairpin and I didn't) I popped my kabob, thinkin it was all good, then he/she popped their Dumpling and I didn't think much of it. Then when I came back in with the pull, we both started blasting. When I saw my first 100+ damage shot on Fly's in Gustav.

I thought I was a pimpin ranger.

Then he/she let theirs loose, dear god did this food embarrass me.

But he/she was nice enough to offer me one so I could see how effective it could make me when my food wore off. HOT DAMN!! I instantly fell in love with this food. Easy 25% damage increase with my ranged attacks.

My only beef with this food is not a whole lot of rangers know about it, and as such, not a whole lot of rangers use it, and that means not a lot of cooks make this, and that means it's rare to see a stack on the AH in Jueno :(
I tend to do a fast snatch and grab whenever I see one on the AH, never hurts to stock up on this food.
If any rangers ever read this, snatch this up if you get a chance, you won't regret it.

well, this is great to craft for skillups when you're a high level crafter.

Todat I got 1.1 skillups with 2 stacks of ingredients. I have woodworking at 18, and cooking at 91.9 when I started.

I failed a few, but most were succesfull synths, and I even had a skillup spree of 4 times when I turned 92.

Gonna try to get to 95 tomorrow.
