As far as boots go, most of them are crap. They tend to have reduced/pointless/ambiguous stats which, on the whole, make the foot slot of any job's armor rather boring and useless.
There are exceptions...
Like these. The def and the hp are rather pointless, even for a taru, but the Dex and attack on them is the best thing going for your melee setup. As long as you aren't forced to wear Hachiman for your 6-hit setup, these are the dream melee boots for you sams. The enmity+ is a non-issue because a) its only one enmity, hardly a drop in the bucket, and b) /thfs use their weaponskills and trick attack to put a large amount of hate on somebody else, which more than makes up for any extra hate you would get from a piddly 1 enmity. /war wants these for the attack+, and perhaps the dex+ for accuracy and certain critical hit setups (stacking upwards of 50 dex. Useful for farming, I suppose). If you still play /rng, the attack and dex are only useful for the actual meleeing, and are rather pointless for your bow.
