Sentinel Shield
Seems like a good shield to use while soloing or in situations where I need to DD...Might even try it in a PLD/NIN build.
To be quite honest, the DEF on shields isn't really important compared to the shield size and the modifiers on the shield.
Oh well, got quite a few more assaults to do now, seeing as I'm only PFC >.<

I love this shield, I use it on my bst the +1% haste gives a little faster axe (not very noticable though) and the +3 STR is very nice for the finishing WSs, the 10def is good too ^^ this is probably the best shield for bst at 50+ for quite a while.
It looks like the general's shield and is a kite shield. BSTs mostly get buckler shields and through tests on pld most say that kite > buckler, in terms of damage reduction. so this is a very awsome item for bsts ^^

I'm wondering for a PLD50 if that is better than the Royal Knight/Temple knight shields? I don't know if the haste+1% along with the 3STR outweight the loss of 2DEF.
Short answer, yes. 2 Def wont make a bit of difference.
If you aren't taking damage or you aren't getting hit, this IS WAAAY better. RDM/BLU in TP burns, RDM vs anything ep- RDM in assault.

thats cuz when you get a rdm whm or brd over 48 THFs are like on crack if they only use one weapon lol
This is better than Genbu's for certain tasks on RDM, even when /nin. At 50, this shield is amazing for the jobs that might use it! The only thing that really sucks about this is that this isn't BLU usable. :(
If you wanted to skill up sub-par Divine Magic as /pld, which shield would you use? (Hint: the one with haste helps your recast timer.)
