gosh you people are lucky...i remembered when i played on remora i had to pay like 250k for a wize wiz anelace...but then again the gil sellers were really messing up our economy....you know when clusters go for like 20k a pop and most things that are normally cheap cost upwards of 800k+. scorp harneses were like 15mil and thats not +1...i envy you all...
i got both, i use Royal Guard's Fleuret when fighting VT, and IT or any mob with high evation. and any other time WWA is great on EP,DC,EM, and T. for like farming or messing around. or even solo fights i dont miss that much unless its IT+, so just get both there not that much gil adn you can sell them back when its time for the joy, or elemant witch ever you want (or just get both once again) RDM/NIN with that set up oh boy!
Many people on this micro-forum are giving their opinions on whether or not to use the Wise Wizard's Anelace or the Royal Guard's Fleuret. From what I've noticed, the Anelace looks like it would hit better than the Fleuret, but from experience, here are the things I've noticed:
1) The Fleuret hit harder than the Anelace against most enemies in Rolanberry Fields except for Goobbues, Bats, and the occasional Berry Grub.
2) On those, there was a marked difference in damage ratings, and the Anelace hit harder on every swing.
My theory is this: Since the Fleuret is more a stabbing weapon than a slashing one, like the Anelace, then perhaps different enemies have different levels of resistance to piercing, slashing, and crushing, as they do have different elemental resistances. For example, a Quadav. The Quadav has a thick backplate that would deflect some of the kinetic impact of a slashing weapon but would offer slightly less resistance to a blunt or piercing weapon (and indeed I noticed the Fleuret dealing higher damages against these). Or I'm just crazy. Regardless, you might have to draw your own conclusions from these and make your choice. I don't know everything.
first of all id like to say ive used the wwa's and the royal guard's fleurets, and quite frankly in comparison, the rgfs are a much more useful weapon. most rdms look at the level 55 swords and have two options in their heads. either buy the wwas or rgfs. to understand their strengths and weakness you must first undertand what the stats they give mean. attack = the consistancy of your dmg on a mob accuracy = determines your ability to hit a mob parrying skill = most people ignore and most rdms are gimped in this area is your ability to parry an enemies attack, thus avoiding dmg
Dual weilding is the first thing people think of wen it comes to the wwas and rgfs. So some people say they wanna do dmg, so they buy 2 wwas. well the attack +28 seems impressive at first but wen it comes down to it, this is just increasing your ability to hit at a consistantly higher rate. so if u were using a weapon with the same dmg before add you hit in the 60-90 range on a mob, and now u use the wwas you will hit at a more constant dmg, so probally (in my experience) 75-90. attack does not increase your max dmg, it merely makes your attacks hit consistantly dmg wise. STR makes your max dmg go up. so these would be a nice addition to anyone with a good amount of str who wants to eliminate lower dmg hits. however for a rdm, even elvaan rdm, these arent the best choice for your level. atleast not as long as the royal guards fleurets exist. As a rdm you dont tear mobs up with your dmg(unless ure uber) you rely on ure en spells to do a fair amount of dmg. En spells are not dependent on the caster's attack or str. all you need to do is hit the mob for the en spells to work. wen it comes to hitting, accuracy is the way to go. And since the dmg of a rdm relies greatly on just being able to hit. i would hope a rdm would value +12 acc (a scorpion harness+1's acc) over +28 attack with no STR bonus. Becuase lets face it, even soloing rdms dont focus very much on STR. so if you think the WWAs are going to make u hit like a mnk or drk or w/e, your wrong. they wont increase your maximum dmg at all.
ive played both paths, the rgf and the wwa. the rgf is much better for soloing and for use in parties. other weapons with +acc are insanely expensive, but since only rdm and drg can use the rgf it is fairly cheap. the wwa is nice to look at and a fun conversational starter but it will not deliver like the rgf. you may have the ability to hit with consistant dmg but that means little to nothing if u cant hit the mob. even in balista, wen your oponents may not have the highest eva, the rgf is much better because of the added parrying skill +5. But wen it comes down to it, you can chose w/e you like or think looks kool, becuaz thats what makes people happy.
hope that helped =S /reply if u think somethings wrong, im not proofreading all this >;P
Very true...the only real good swords to get for a rdm are this and Royal Guard's Fleuret. Honetly I think the main reason ppl go with this over the Flueret is...well...it looks kooler. Also if you've done some skill up parties and maxed your sword skill this is going to serve you alot better when soloing. Now if you melee in xp parties the Flueret will alot better as you'll most likely be facing IT++ mob and your going to want the accuarcy.
Special note for ppl looking at this that are on Ifrit. Dont buy this yet. Flueret is 200k, this bad boy is 300k (up from 60k last year) with about 19 in stock and only 2-4 sell a day.
Gotta love the AH with CP items after your country was in first. ^^
This sword is a really good one. I have had 2 of them for a while. I used to have 2 Fleuret before, but I have sold them after I got my 2 anelace. I don't melee in xp pt, so I don't really need Fleuret. This sword is good, I sub nin and duel wield these when I solo. The dmg is boost is awesome. I hit as much as a monk at my lv (Well not as fast), with enspells I do a little bit more per hit, and the delay is not so bad too. Too many sword ws ain't that good. With nin sub they gives +28 attack ^^
I dunno how much this baby is going for on AH in Bahamut, but I know I'm certainly gonna get it! I totally plan on using this thing whenever I melee. I figure a Life Belt and Balance Buckler should give me a good deal of accuracy, so I can use this to actually hit the mobs for a fair amount of damage. Perfect for when I solo, not to mention these things look veeery pretty. Reminds me of Cloud's Rune Blade from FFVII, actually.
i wish i was on some of ur guys servers this thing is goin for 90-100K on Sereph granted i looked on sat and weekends prices do jump a bit i cant see it droping much lower then 80K on a weekday i wish i would get enough conquest points too :(
So.. plain old RDM, not subbing ninja, which is better? This, or the Royal GuardsFLeuret? (+6 ACC, +5 parry)
If you're fighting with that blade in a party, get the Fleuret. If you plan to solo a lot, with it, I say go for the Anelace! While I agree, the accuracy is quite useful when you're fighting ITs, you're not likely to be soloing ITs. I'll solo EMs sometimes, and Ts if I'm feeling incredibly brave, but I can hit those just fine, without the extra Accuracy. Now extra DAMAGE is very much appreciated, when I'm the only one doing the fighting.
Last time I checked, this thing was 60K on Bismarck. I'm getting it, first chance I can.
I'm prolly gonna get both a Royal Guard Fleuret and Wise Wizard Anelace once I hit 55. Been looking forward to for a while now (my Crimson Sword is beginning to rust ;p ) The Fleuret will be perfect for party play along with a Balance Buckler, maybe letting me actually hit ITs again :) And you simply couldn't ask for anything better than the Wise Wizard's Anelace for soloing or fighting VTs and lower. I can't wait go wreck havoc with this once I get it :)
Last time I checked, on Siren the Wise Wizard's Anelace was around 40k, and Royal Guard Fleuret was ~70k, so both quite affordable.
Well, with regards to Anelace vs. Fleuret... I'm not a level 55 RDM myself (only 41 atm), but at least 90% of the high-level RDMs I've seen are wielding the Wise Wizard's Anelace. I don't know, maybe they switch to a wand in parties or something, but when I see them in town or soloing or whatever, the Wise Wizard's Anelace is what they usually have.
So.. plain old RDM, not subbing ninja, which is better? This, or the Royal GuardsFLeuret? (+6 ACC, +5 parry)
Seems that I miss ALOT in a party... and that accuracy would hel a ton. Most of my damage is coming from En-elements anyway...
But 14 attack is huge.. and attack DOES help you hit (factors in some way, though I'm sure quite how) if you doubt this, try attacking a mob with a weapon you have no skill in.
It seems that for solo play or fighting things that are tough or lower the +14 woudl be way better b/c you'll be hitting pretty decently anyway...
Also, on Levianthan server this swrod goes for like 40k while the FLeuret goes for 70k.. is that comment on the power? or just rarity?
Yea, I was shopping in advance and had the same problem. It looks like the last sword Ill want till 60's wing sword and cermet look pretty, but stats wise they seem weak :/ And for the money, I dont see anything better.
#REDACTED,
Posted:Mar 23 2004 at 8:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this is one hell of a weapon for a RDM/NIN like me 2 of these owns i've seen it in action myself and it does dmg worthy of any RDM/MELEE.
Yes. This is indeed an awesome weapon, yet from reading on these forums, it appears to be one that is largely overlooked. All of the hype is given to Royal Guard's Fleurets for the combined +12 accuracy, however, in my opinion you're better off aquiring accuracy from another slot, because you're not going to see attack bonuses this big, very often, while you can just about make up the accuracy difference with just a Life Belt. True, attack doesn't matter if you can't hit the target, but accuracy doesn't matter if you don't do decent damage with a hit.
At level 54, I was carrying these weapons with me, in anticipation of hitting 55, and then being able to equip them. When I did hit 55, the damage boost given by these was hard to not notice. Aside from that, this is a very aesthetically pleasing weapon. Don't be suprised if you get comments about having pretty swords.
Once you look at what you have between 55 and 75, you realize it's gonna be a while before you even think about replacing one of them. I say one of them, becuase the off hand +14 bonus is worth keeping around even if you change main weapons.
*sigh* If only the Attack and Accuracy bonuses on the Enhancing Sword, weren't latent, that would truly make it an incredible weapon. However, that's another story for another time.
Be happy about the latent effect. It is very easy to activate, simply apply an "En"-spell. I don't know a rdm that doesn't solo without them on anyways ~_^
