AF Feet
# Dec 07 2006 at 8:43 AM Rating: Decent
Either way, if you want your AF hat, your gotta get these. plain and simple. you can toss em later if you want, but you cant get the AF hat quest until you have done this one.
-1 emnity

Well, the -1 Emnity on these is nice. At the level u get these you wanna do Crabs in Kuftal tunnel or Bohyada Tree (i forget) and MBing Freeze works wonders on them (crabs can drop at 1/2 hp if you get Distortion). Well, if your MB doesnt kill it that -1 Emnity could come in handy. I know I've had time when I leave the crab with a sliver of health (resists ><) with the mages spamming cures to keep me alive.

Even if it doesn't, INT isnt that great at later levels, and I Much rather have 10MP and -20 interruption that 1 INT...
RE: -1 emnity

I'd have to disagree. INT, in most cases, is much more important than anything you could wear (Again, in most cases. I'll slap you if I see you wearing INT over a Moldavite.) Since by level 52, most of your spells will be taking near 100 or over MP, and you shouldn't be getting hit in the 1st place, I see no use for these. Sure, the -Enmity is useful, but it's nowhere near enough to make these worthwhile for EXP.

If taru then wear em, if any other race I think the RSE feet should be better, but I only know stats for hume and elvaan RSE, don't know about Mithra and Galka.
Ballista

Um, you would wanna use these in Ballista :P BLM's get slapped around there a lot ;). Wear these, an Eremite's Wand...and Druid's rope for up to 60% reduction in interrupts...That + Aquaveil will let you get off a needed Bind, Sleepga, -ga, that you need to save the day without getting interupted ;). Also nice when you accidentally move a tad or cast too fast before you stop running.

I think Mannequin Pumps are much better, they have +12MP, and +1 INT, which is a far cry better than the stats on this.

The only area these beat the Mannequin pumps in is the -enmity really, and well, price.

While technically the Pumps are free, you have to obtain a Mannequin and finish the "It's Raining Mannequins" quest and "Behind the Smile" quests to get the Pumps. If it's at all possible for you to get these, go for it.^^

Yeah mannequinn pumps are better...

But how much work is required to get a mannequinn initially? Whereas AF is not an option, you must do it.

Free pumps? lol

Well in my opinion it depends what level you are.If your a high level fighting Gods and Hnms you want these because of the enmity.1int doesnt matter when fighting Hnms and Gods but enmity does for sure.

yes very true. I never consider God gear as I am still only 45 atm.. Although you do raise a good point. 1 INT does not really do much for a lv75BLM, where as having less -enmity is welcome at all levels.
interruption rate

would not the -20% be helpful, after all BLM gets slapped around a bit at times

Spell interuption isn't really typically that useful, and as mentioned, a good blm shouldn't be getting slapped around to even need it to begin with.

The enmity is really about the only thing that beats out the Mannequin Pumps here, but it's only -1, so it's up to each person's playstyle and descretion if they'd rather have more MP and some MND and INT over -1enmity and some spell interuption reduction.

My personal choice would be the pumps, but that may just be me. ^^

# May 22 2005 at 11:48 PM Rating: Decent
A good BLM wouldn't get slapped around during an XP party =D

But the reason you would get these is for the -Enmity, and so you can continue getting the rest of your AF.
RE: interruption rate
# Jun 19 2005 at 11:22 PM Rating: Decent
There are other issues with interuption than say the BLM pulling too much hate from the mob their party is fighting. For instance, a pop at the partys camp, where the blm catches the aggro on the unwanted mob. In these cases, this type of equipment helps immensely along with other -Spell Interuption equipment and Aquaveil for trying to sleep the aggro while being hit. This isn't a very common scenario, and not a lot of blm's will carry equipment like this for this type of situation, but it can happen, and if it's expected to happen but comes to be a suprize, the few BLM's that carry this equipment and have it all macro'd out will be ready for it.

Oh for sure. I carry tons of gear I don't normally wear that is macroed in for other situations. When I said the pumps were "better", I meant more for everyday use. ^^;
wtf?
# Mar 21 2005 at 11:32 PM Rating: Decent
does blm only have 4 af gear or is there a mistake?
RE: wtf?
# Mar 16 2006 at 8:10 PM Rating: Decent
BLM has 5 pieces of Afv1. Look again and you will find a piece at level 52, 54, 56, 58, and level 60. =)
Whats better
# Feb 01 2005 at 11:01 AM Rating: Decent
What is better? Elvaan RSE boots or these?
RE: Whats better
# Feb 22 2005 at 8:34 AM Rating: Decent
elvaan rse is better unless u have a ninja tank
success
# Jan 09 2005 at 3:14 AM Rating: Decent
yeah, this blew. Thankfully, a high level WHM just happened to be in the castle and walked me to the door and killed the mob around it so i could remove invis. Sadly, it is probably about the best you can do for taru BLM boots.
Best shoes
# Dec 22 2004 at 1:25 PM Rating: Decent
These are the best shoes for TaruTaru Blackmages. Inferno Sabots are kind of iffy because of the day requirement. Spell interruption -% is great, and the emnity would probably help some with hate control. The quest, however, is frustrating.

elvaan RSE feet is DEF+5 MP+20 AGI+3 INT+2

tough to chose wich to use >.<
They aren`t bad...
# Nov 04 2004 at 10:13 AM Rating: Good
This is probably the best boot you can wear at this level...except maybe the Hume custom boots...once I hit 50 ill try to get these and make the test(witch one is better)
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 02 2004 at 11:56 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) These also give +10 to Elemental Magic. They're not bad.

These stats are right, there is no elemental magic skill. Still, these are decent. There aren't many other options for feet, so these are just fine.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 29 2004 at 9:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the only af i want for my blm when i lvl to 20 with whm i only want the hat because the boots stink just the hat is good and better! i never seen af 1 for blm! i cant wait till im 20 on whm then no more whm until 40!
RE: blah!
# Dec 30 2004 at 10:37 AM Rating: Decent
How do the boots stink? Sure getting them is a pain, but the boots are the best boots for this level. And the gloves with +15 to Elem. magic skill. Even at 55 I'm still outdamaging a Ranger who has both Sidewinder and Slug Shot with my Wiz gloves.
