I was doing a supply run to the outpost when we ran across one of these brutes. I had no map and was waiting for an ally to sneak me past some gobs (40WAR/20MNK galka). I was kind of curious about him and got close to get a better look, didn't aggro. Then my friend shows up, casts sneak... then sirens sound the lights go out and everything goes to hell.
The golem takes my friend (38RDM/19BLM hume) to the woodshack and I 'voke off him to save his life. I don't have enough time to throw up defender and I start running blind through the forest, no idea what'll aggro. The golem meanwhile is absolutely RAVAGING my galkan back/legs (for ~100 per hit something, don't remember exact amount but it was a savage beating), and I'm looking at my radar waiting to lose him. Still getting pounded, then I resort to run-away tactic #2: Use environment. I try running around some logs but that doesn't work, then I slip through 2 really thin trees and begin praying at 7/909. He's not hitting me anymore, but I figure in the delay to change zones he'll deliver the coup de grace, but I happen to zone (still no map) and emerge on the other side 7/909!
Cue "/l I love galka hp now" Galka ftw!

Solod as a 50 DRG/WHM, got a Kindred`s Seal for my considerable trouble. Got smacked by a double crit-special attack combo when I tried another one though. >.<
I wouldn't suggest fighting these solo before level 55 unless you're really good. Had no problems fighting these as a 56 monk/war. Just be sure to have dodge, counterstance, beserk and focus up. The AF boots and gloves helped too. Without dodge up I had a few problems, but took them down Ok.

I'm not trying to be Mean, just curious why you would drop your Defense to Nothing if the Mob is Close to your Level? Hitting alot is Good, but I'd think your Defense would be what keeps you alive Fighting Similar Level Mobs solo.

not saying they dont drop light crystals but yesterday while waiting for the rest of our members to show up and the boyahda tree we killed one of these got beastman seal DARK CRYSTAL and mithril ore maybe they drop both i dont know but i do know that this golem dropped a dark crystal.
would you think that a good idea to go pt against this thing

I can also confirm that these drop Golem Shards. I killed three today and got two shards in addition to a couple of mythril ores and a light crystal or two.

took this guy down as 56 thf/nin, took me down to 117/902 hp, got in 2 sneak attacks, all i got was 43 exp and a light crystal

ehh.. this looks a lot tougher than he is. Me and a buddy of mine almost killed him (both of us lvl 42) gob aggroed while tryin to kill him... so we almost took gob out also while killin golem... btw we are both BST as you can imagine :)

Hey guys, a little help if its not too much trouble.
As a lvl 63 PLD, i can take out one of these mobs with little complication, however i'm curious as to wether the drop rate is high enuf to justify farming these mobs?

I killed this guy as my 54 thief/nin. It ranked easy prey to me. I used at least 8 utesemi spells, I totally forgot to blind it. I got 2 sneak attacks off. and had to use shadow stitch in order to put some distance between me and it for a couple of casts.
Just a minor warning :)
I jumped off my choco to slay one, Im 55 drk. this dude.. he hit me hard:) I didn't use any absorb spells thou, if i had i probably could have beaten him. but not without. my hp was 1064 when i started, 460 when i took a stun & run..
I hit him with a drain for about 156hp too..
got him to 40% hp.
No 2hr used:)
drk isn't very strong solo, but other jobs can take him. nin 53 owned him :) only had to recast utsemi once..

ok i fought one with my friend we gt it about rdy to die and then i hit wrong macro and he was intimidated by my presence when i accidently did warding circle and he killed me but luckly my friend had a whm with us ^^

Going to kill the Guardian Treant for SAM quest, me (30war/mnk) RDM30, MNK45, BRD42, WHM43 (don't ask about the combo...we just grabbed whoever would help, lol) WHM d/c and lost choco so we all walked (bad, bad idea) Go around a corner and my screen starts shaking and I notice the RDM pointing frantically at this golem. Attacked the WHM first, killed him in four hits and poor guy didn't even have a chance to fire off a cure. BRD put it to sleep, but MNK didnt disengage so woke it up ~_~ We fought it (still don't know why...the MNK knew we would get owned, but anyway) managed to get it down to almost half health before it killed us all ^^

also drops mynthril ore. i kill them often to see what other ores i can find though mynthril is a seemingly rare drop.
I like to wear a elaborate Jar Jar Binks costume and mask as part of my every day life. I went to the grocery store, and saw how depressed everyone was so I thought I would help. I started dancing in the aisles, and yelling at people, and running up to people and taking things out of their cart. It was great fun. Then when I went to check out, there was only one lane open and a long line. I screamed and screamed while in line and danced, bumping into other people. I opened a box of baking soda and threw it around. Finally I got to the checkout. I started making noises at the cashier, and I kept pressing buttons on the computer. Some people in line were groaning because the line was getting very long, but that gave me even more incentive to make them laugh. I climbed onto the table and started kicking peoples groceries on the floor and singing. The manager and one of his goons pulled me off and said I could never shop there again. Can I sue for harassment or possibly assault?

I've had the pleasure of running across one of these while running from Gobus after doing the Supply Quest in Zi'Tah. They are slow, and I would have outrun it had I not taken a wrong turn.
