we walked in....got SC on 2nd summon and Katars dropped.
won the lot on an 834 due to the fact that there were no MNK's present >:D

1. He's on about a 4 hour pop timer.
2. Fighting Detectors close to the four entrances he spawns at is a waste of time, because he won't pop from them. Instead, pull Detectors from the basement areas.
3. The latest I have seen him spawn is on the fourth summon from the Detector. If he does not pop after 5 or so summons, get a new Detector.
4. Caretakers are doll types. Steam Cleaner is a magic pot type. Yes, Detectors really do summon both Caretakers and Steam Cleaner.

How do you get these, I heard this mob was removed from the game. But I don't know anything so could someone please tell me?

this mob cant be removed from the game ; ; it has Seiryu's Gem of the east i believe it is.....

Just spent 4-5 hours trying to pop this SOB and all we got were Caretakers, wth's up with that? i asked a few other people in different ls's and they said it should have spawn in that time frame. or is it a 6 hr pop? any info would be good cause this was a big waste of mine and my ls's time today...
Well you could of either been fighting the wrong detectors, or someone could of gotten it to pop in a different area

It also drops Freya's tear
30 straight kills and no drop then we get 2 in a row in then nothing then another...lol wtf XD
I've read where he won't pop until 6 hours after his last kill and in this post it says 2-3. Does anyone know his correct pop time since last kill? Thanks ^^

I hate this damn thing, i been trying for a couple months now to get Indra Katar's, i am 0/8 now... i think im unlucky cuz i hear of many monks getting on first try ; ;
The one time it drops for the LS is the time i am on vacation... i have great luck dont i :(

update:
atfer feb update im pleased to say SC has poped 3 times in a row. Its poping just like it used to, ***** u SE saying u changed it an wasting our time for 2 months. Also theres been sum problems with people DC'ing when SC pops, i dunno if its related but it has beeen reported to a GM on bahumut server

After our server (Unicorn) had an Emergency maintainance, Steam Cleaner is now working.
The reset help get SC running again.
Our LS pulled detectors as normal, and the first spawn was indeed Steam Cleaner.

Complete taken out of the game I swear. I've lost count of the hours I've put into trying to spawn him lately. Im not happy, SE needs to reveal the info.

wel im on Bahamut server an we havnt been able topop SC in 4 weeks -.- we talk to all other HNM LS an everyone having trouble. We alos contacted GM an got same exact respose. well where on PlayOnline.com is any info posted..

Steam Cleaner is a lottery pop of a Caretaker, which is a doll and NOT a Pot. There are 4 enterances from sky that you can take to get to the Detectors that will spawn SC. Quickest way is to kill one detector and sleep the other one until SC is popped. Camp in the hallways and becareful some of the enterances have pots that agro to magic.

LOT of info lacking on SC so im here to help ^^: Apparently until recently SC (for all you old folks thats S for Steam and C for Cleaner) (For all you young folks yeah SC also stands for Skill Chain, bear with me) would not spawn at all! The Dec 8 patch fixed it nicley. Ok so you kill the closest detector in Ve'Lugannon. Note it can spawn in one of four places, but will only spawn if...someones forcing it to. By that i mean (this is best way to do it) get a defender from the BASEMENT where there are 1-4 pops per area. Then bring it up, it'll spawn a Caretaker or SC. SO... PLD vokes Caretaker and then BLM sleeps Defender! So you kill Caretaker (STUN MELTDOWN! He will explode!)(1200 DMG AOE) then wake up the Defender or Detector... rather... its called Detector in Ve'Lugannon if we wanna speak proper english here. OK anyway wake it up with like Stone I or w/e. Itll sit there poking you for a few secs then it'll pop ANOTHER....Caretaker or SC! IF he has not been killed recently, this process takes NO LONGER than 15 minutes. Spend 15 minutes doing this, and assume he has been killed recently. If he has been killed recently then wait 2-3 HRS before you go and try again. NOW as for killing SC himself.... well hes friggin weak. I cant remember if he does anything special, he died to fast every time we've killed him. So.. just unleash hell on him! He might have an aga 3 spell to look for...iono he dies so fast with 18 ppl you wont need to worry, he'll be dead before he casts =D

the detectors that spawn steamcleaner are usually farther down near the basement areas overall its an easy mob just stun the major magic attacks.
i was wondering how long it takes to make one spawn
