SummaryNevela wants to hear the story surrounding the birth of a chocobo in the Upper Jeuno's stables. The chocobo's mother is said to have been from the stables in Bastok... WalkthroughYou must have completed the Chains of Promathia mission Vessel Without a Captain before you can start this quest. Talk to Nevela at (G-7) in Upper Jeuno to begin this quest. Next, talk to Wobke at (I-9) in the Chocobo Stables in Bastok Mines. Go to the Pashhow Marshlands Outpost and examine the "Outpost Gate" to get a cutscene. You will need to get three Warding Oils from Emerald Quadavs in Beadeaux or Castle Zvahl Baileys. Once you've obtained three oils, head back to the Outpost in Pashhow Marshlands and trade the oils to the gate. Once you have seen the cutscene, head back to Bastok Mines to speak with Wobke again. Head to Batallia Downs. Examine a ??? on a headstone at location (H-6). This will spawn 5 NM tigers called Badshah. At 75, these can be killed solo. Once they've been defeated, re-examine the ??? to get the key item: Silver Comet's Collar. Return to Upper Jeuno and speak again with Nevela. Watch this last cutscene to complete the quest. I have a quick question, is it 3 oils per person or 3 per party wanted to do this with a friend =).
Which Bard gives this title? It isn't the Lower Jeuno BRD. I just went through her entire repertoire and Chocobo Love Guru was NOT there.
Tooling around Upper Jeuno, I talked to Nevela. She starts talking about an elvaan girl, and I think, "Oh, one of the CoP quests I missed."
The cutscene starts and Prishe is...an HUME MALE with blond hair. Her (his?) movements were all contorted and the dialogue seemed like it was right, but I guess the wrong model loaded for Prishe. Very funny and yet very strange.
I'm on PS2 if that matters.

How much help would a white mage 64/Black mage 32 (or summoner 32 if that's a better sub for this) need?
I've noticed that I seem to unlock a lot of the CoP quests a long time before I can actually do them. (like at whm 30 I opened quest for killing bombs in movalopolos lol, didn't complete it until whm 58-59 I think)

build up TP to 300% with dagger... the tigers only have 1000 hp each, and Cyclone will knock off 50% of that easy. Or have a BLM -ga III them.
As a NIN75 (/WAR), these tigers NM were a joke. Didn't even recast Utsusemi after it wore, they missed way too much. No tricks, I just popped them and went to work. I can't speak for other jobs, but any NIN75 can solo this no sweat.
I have yet to be able to find this title again from a bard ; ;

Easy, but really annoying quest.
Spent a good 2 hours+ getting the Warding Oils, in Beadaux.
Tigers are very easy, opposed to what the description says. As 75PLD/WAR I lost around 400 hp total, from the entire fight, with Berserk active the whole time. No MP used.
And yeah, the story is at least mildly entertaining, and the title is worth it all.

just soloed as 71bst/blm set up a elemental seal > sleepga macro. first cast got interupted but second went off without any problems, tigers didnt wake up until the 3rd was almost dead leaving just 2. courrier carie made short work of them, took me down to 886/1217 hp

Easy quest, I did it as 59 thf/nin. As for the Tiger's it was no big deal to solo at 59 with a few bloody blot's. I didn't read into the quest before I did it so I was a bit suprised when all thoes tiger's jumped out at me.

did this quest last night and this morning. lots of running around, but nice story. solo'd the entire thing as 75rdm/blm. very very easy. despite what the quest text says, soloing the tigers at 75 is extremely easy. they miss a lot, and their damage is not high. i put up stoneskin and phalanx and they didnt break it once. before i put up stoneskin, they were hitting me between 11 and 18 when they landed hits. i got hit once for 28, but that was 10 higher than the next highest hit.
You don't have to have this quest complete to get the title "Chocobo Love Guru". Not sure when you can get it, but definitely before getting the oils. The bard in Lower Jeuno gave me this title.

Just completed this quest. I thought the final segment of the story was really sweet. A couple quick notes :
- I recommend trying to get the oils in Bedeaux rather than Castle Zvahl. I think I had a slightly better drop rate in Zvahl, but it was MUCH harder to pull an Emerald Quadav to a safe place to avoid a link, especially due to the multi-level nature of the area. I would almost always find myself using Sleepga liberally and end up spending a lot of time killing off the links.
- The instructions say you should check the outpost door after getting the 3 oils. It may seem obvious to some, but you should actually TRADE the 3 oils to the door.
And to those folks who complain about whether or not this quest is worth the time and effort, I have three words for you :
Chocobo. Love. Guru.
That title alone is worth the trouble :)

anyone else think this quest is a little too difficult to simply have a 5200g reward? maybe just me...
Probably, but it's more of a quest for those of us who do quests solely for the sake of doing the quest and like the stories, who don't care what the reward is (like myself).

It's best to gather warding oils while hunting the quadav NM that drops valkurie mask, as emerald quadavs are his primary place holders.

Just did this quest. Got the quest by accident too. Soloable as smn73. Emerald quadavs gives the worst drop rates available for an [ex] drop. I killed like over 45+ emeralds and got 3 warding oils. Very frustrating. The tigers in batallia are easy, just need carby out and let it kill the tigers. I did it with a sam75 dragonx. pretty easy kills, they go down fast and have little HPs. Grants gil 5200G. Totally not worth it for the trouble you have to go through. lol

As much as I'd like to have my own personal chocobo, I don't see it happening simply because chocobo rental is a very important means of keeping inflation in check given its role of reducing the money supply. I would reckon if it were to be done, you'd still have to pay boarding fees or some other such expense, even if you actually own the bird. The only difference would be that you get to name the bird or something (unless they're setting up for chocobo breeding, which would also be very cool).

I see I'm not the only one who has thought of implementing personal chocobos. That would be awesome. The only problem is that it could possible shut down the chocobo rental system, at least for players who have made it to higher levels. Either way, it'd still be cool.

Definatley not the only person to think of it, ive had discussions about it with many people - Considering the idea of even a job ability for BST (Seeing as Deitmund had his own personal chocobo in the BST introductory story line) to "Call chocobo" useing a certrain broth for Call Beast, or something of the sort, (this would work cause you would still have to pay, or work for your chocobo, Could make the materials for the broth rare or whatever, lots of ways to make this work "Fairly") And yes this tied into the concept of personal chocobos, date it back to FFVII with breeding chocobos.. I want a Black Chocobo! Yeaaaaaaaaaaahh! -.- too bad it'll never happen >.<;
People always say that personal Chocobos will destroy the chocobo system but I seriously doubt it. Once rank 5 comes how often do you use chocobos? Not as much as before. Plus there could be farm fees and such making up for the gil sink.

Er, I use them all the time.
EXP in sky or Boyahda Tree? Choco from Port Jeuno.
EXP in KRT? Tele-Holla > Choco or Airship > Choco
EXP in Bibiki Bay or Labyrinth of Onzozo? Tele-Mea > Choco
I use chocobos far more than I use the airship.
If we are ever to get some kind of personal Chocobos, this quest will start the series that ends in them. At the end the head of the Upper Jeuno stables all but says "THIS ISN'T THE LAST WE'VE HEARD OF THESE CHOCOBOS" and leaves us hanging.
