Wow alot of post. anyhow went in as 50dnc/nin he took me out after a good fight!
casting those aoe spells "non stop" So went back as a 55rdmg/blmg used silence everytime needed to keep him shut up and that was the trick, in my opinon.
levels 50 and lower make sure you use a job that has silence and you shouldn't have any problems... Good luck to ya!

SummaryYou have been asked to find and bring back a book pertaining to the Galka's darksteel formula. WalkthroughTalk to Raibaht in Bastok Metalworks. He's in the same room as Cid, on the second floor. He will send you to talk with Mighty Fist in the Dark Steel Forge (first room on the left as you enter the Metalworks). Then you have to go see Cochal-Monchal in the Windurst Optistery in Windurst Waters. Get a Yagudo Cherry from the auction house or a vendor. It is sold by either Ahyeekih (H-10 Windurst Waters), Fiva (G-6 San d'Oria Port) or Yafafa (I-5 Bastok Markets), but the they will only sell it if their nation is in control of the Kolshushu region. Go to H-14 in Giddeus and trade the cherry to the ???. Vaa Huja the Erudite will spawn. Note: might be a good idea to clear the other birds around the ??? before you do the turn in as they will link. After you kill Vaa Huja the Erudite, check the ??? again and receive the key item Dark Steel Formula. Go back to Bastok Metalworks and talk to Mighty Fist. He'll tell you to go to back to Raibaht. did it with me a gimped drk40/pld18 healed my fellow friend drk drk60/sam30 and took it down within 2 mins.

ok so after readin a bunch of the posts on here and seeing how hard this nm seems to be i euqip as a 60war/30drk and head out. but just in case i bring my 75pld/37whm friend along for backup if i cant handle it alone. so we get there and clear all the link mobs and i have like 150tp and i start the battle. i hit em once do a last resort and war cry and raging rush for 786dmg which is approx 22% of his health. so he responds by casting all his magic spells with a II in it. left me at about 650 hp. we fight he does a little more magic and i do another raging rush with berserk and aggressor for 550 dmg and bout 15secs more im at 324hp and i tell pld to be ready to cure at 250hp. well bio2 and poison 2 take some health away im at 290 and he decides to do a fire 2 for 287 dmg and hit me fore 13...i died.so the pld does a vorpal blade and starts to raise me. as soon as im up and alive with 30 the ******* casts a thundaga and i die again. so this time the pld silences the guy and raises me i run outa AOE range he kills the mob and i run in and get the book. so a 60war/30drk cant solo this nm w/o using 2hr (my dumbass forgot)
so moral of the story?: always 2hr when in doubt
nonetheless i like this weapon no matter what other people say

So I went in there with my DRK40 and owned this thing solo.
OK, I lied... I took my RDM75, cleared the area, hit the thing about 3 times plus Bliz&ThunIII, one Savage Blade, end of story. Hardest part was checking the stupid ??? again...
IT was high up, and the game wouldn't let me click it... "out of reach" over and over again.

just did this earlier today. at 1st it was just gonna be me and a lvl 58 Ls whm friends, but when i read that ppl had trouble w/ the NM at lvl 60, i asked my other 70whm friend, she was there hunting NMs anyways... only took like 3 minutes to kill and i just got tele dem back to bastok i went, then to room to change sub to blm to warp to jeuno.... most useless weapon in my opinion if ur low on accuracy.

I threw out my Raven Scythe do to storage about 6 months ago. I've seen all the posts here regarding how to get it back. Today I'm going out to get it. You don't have to throw any other DRK af out. Here's the details (thxs somepage!)
Re-Acquiring Artifact Equipment:
Jeuno Lower
Vingijard [H-9]
To activate this mini-quest, a character must have completed all four Artifact quests (AF Hands, AF1, AF2, AF3) for a specific job, as well as the mini-quests to obtain the two AF pieces from coffers for that job.
After at least one of the Artifact items for the job has been discarded, talk to Vingijard, found in Waag-Deeg's Magic shop in Jeuno Lower. If you have completed Artifact quests for a job, but dropped one of those Artifact items, he will offer to clear your "memory" of the Artifact quests and mini-quests.
Agree to clear the memories, and pay him the 10,000 gil that he requires. This will reset all the Artifact quests and mini-quests for that particular job. You can now go through the normal steps to complete those quests and mini-quests again, which will provide you with the Artifact items that you had discarded.
Repeating the Mini-Quest: This mini-quest can be completed as many times as necessary, to keep reacquiring Artifact items that have been dropped.

Totally pwned this nm today with my thf 75, it never touched me, eva at 272 marksmanship catted at 230, just sticked blind bolts on it and keep utsusemi up, as soon as it was tring to -ga i used a sleep bolt to stun it (velocity bow ftw). ^^

My Raven Scythe got deleted. How do I get it back?
Helped out a dark knight friend of my in-game wife's tonight. We set out for Giddeus and wound up picking up 2 LS mates who were in Windi and bored. Got down to the section near the ??? Cleared the entire area in no time. (also picked up the bird whistle from the NM) Our setup was this:
Bst70/whm35 (Fireman)
Pld60/war30 (me)
Drk60/war30 (Meowphttphtt - my wife)
Thf61/nin30 (Enderoftime)
Drk41/war20 (Devastation)
Deva traded the cherry and the NM popped. This had to have been the funniest NM I've ever fought. Meow 1st provoked, Fireman used a fungar familiar, Ender and I lined up behind it. Ender used SATA Dancing Edge behind me, I flashed and provoked, Meow used Guillotine (sp?) then I used Vorpal Blade. Dead in 15 seconds. LMAO Never seen an AF NM go down so fast. Deva got the item and warped back to Bastok to get his AF scythe.
Yes, it was overkill, but it was so funny I had to tell the story. I remember almost getting killed at lvl 41 helping Meow get her scythe at the time, so pwning this thing at lvl 60 was a nice revenge. ;)

Here's my problem, my boots, scythe, gloves, and pants for DRK got dropped well over a year ago and i quit DRK. I've come back to DRK now and know there's a NPC in lower jeuno to repeat AF.. my problem is he allows me to repeat DRG, RDM, and PLD (all 3 full sets in storage atm) but he wont let me repeat DRK... it's all finished exept for body does coffer effect being able to repeat AF? or do i HAVE to drop my helm? (i've heard that too) that blood is about a .05% drop on our server so i dont wana hunt it again im 0/150 or so someone help me here
Yes you must drop your helm sorry there is no other way i am 100% certian of this ive redone AF more than once
he is wrong, you need to have completed the whole AF1 set to be able to redo all the quests, i needed to get my chaos gauntlets back after i made a +1 version so that i could store that crap again, it let me erase my quests on DRK without tossing my other gear, but didnt give the option to redo smner since i have not gotta my smner AF1 body from the temple of ugg. coffer

No, you don't need to be drk the whole time. I just solo'd this one as my Blm68 for an easy fight. The NM didn't do much damage, so I took my time and just beat it to death with scythe; the one link I did get was easily ignored. I imagine this would be challenging for one or two ppl around level 40~ but if you have a higher job this is cake. Unlike some other jobs' AF....

Well it seems that a lvl 74 BLM 74 RDM 73 THF 64 DRK and a 51 DRK are slightly overkill for the NM... I think it went down on the second round of spells... Hard to gage HP, somewhere between 2 and 3K though. I was hitting it pretty hard, of the few seconds I got to hit it double attack kicked in and did 145 and 215 (crit). Then Fire IV went off and I lost the hate war. Then there was a Cross Reaper or something the other DRK put out there... it was a disgustingly short fight.
To explain the Incredibly Tough Party....I asked the 74 BLM and the RDM tagged along, and the 73 THF I had asked earlier, and came anyways for fun later complained cause it died so fast, and the 63 asked to help pawn it while he was farming there.

solod this today as a 64drg/21whm. was expecting more of a challenge but hey i got my raven scythe so its all good.
42 Drk/War, 50 Pld/War, and 54 Blm/Whm head out to Giddeus one fine day to get me my Raven Scythe. All seems to be going well until silence wore. Blm/Whm gets slept, Pld/War has no mp left. We get owned by Manafont and spammed -ga spells. On the plus side my feet got stuck to the side of the cliff and half my body was kinda floating.
Moral of the story, bring a backup silencer.

Pah it was simple. step 1 Flag the quest as Drk at 40.
Step 2 change to a high level job.
Step 3 go in and clean the nms clock as your high level job and get your new AF weapon

This is, by far, the easiest AF to do, EVER.
The only difficulty is the traveling and the fight, that's all.
I had a level 75 Samurai help me out with it, and I did this at level 50 DRK. We killed it in two minutes with our health in the yellow, and it scared me when I forgot to read the part where it said to check the ??? when you're done. (I almost freaked when it didn't drop the book, because there were no more Cherries in the AH at the time.)
Do this quest the second you hit 40, because this gives you the Attack that a level 50-ish scythe would. Trust me, just do it. Doooo eeeet.

THF AF1 all you gotta do is steal some soup from a quadav in Beaduex. you dont even have to fight it walk about 50ft in and pull one down steal and flee. thats it.

Yes you can, I just solo'd it as WAR62/NIN31. Didn't bother to build tp or kill off the ones walking around. Got one link but still got off with about halv of my life left. (Didn't bother to try and recast utsusemi after the usual first 3+3)
There is no drop. However, if you're asking if you can complete Dark Legacy as a RDM, the answer is yes. And from what I understand, he's easy as long as he's silenced.
i beat him as 61 bst today took about 60% of courier carrie's life.
the first 10% looked close but i managed to silence him when he did manafont and the rest was funny.
14 xp with pet so i guess he's as easy as the other AF weapon NM's i've done so far.

just did this with a 62 pld and 66 drk
easy as ****, i would honestly advise staying out of the way 45 and below because you'll just take damage
other than that make sure you have a dd and tank
that's an easy easy set up for it that will make the battle quick and painless

When i did this a long time ago for my DRK a 65drg/sam helped me. he soloed it in about a min, lots of Penta Thrusts very easy kill. most of the AF1's can be soloed by a 65 drg/sam.

Soloed this as 60 RDM. Just keep refresh and stoneskin up, silence and paralyze him, he dies. :)

just did this as a 43 DRK/thf with a 45 NIN and a 52 RDM...when he first spawned, he knocked me down to half hp, but my rdm took care of that and the rest of the fight was cake
