I didn't get a CS when I took the blood back to Curilla.. she talked normally, but did mention taking the blood to bury it.
My diagnosis: If you have to go back to Curilla for a "CS", and she doesn't even give you one, it's a waste of time going back if you don't even need to talk to her. But there is NO CS.

SummaryInvestigate reports of a ghost in the cathedral. WalkthroughYou must be at least level 50 and have completed The Crimson Trial - RDM AF1 to obtain this quest. Before starting this quest, save time by buying a Velvet cloth from the auction house. Head to Chateau d'Oraguille and speak to Curilla. She gives you the key item Old Watch and directs you to the cathedral in North San d'Oria. Enter the cathedral and go down to the basement, and talk to the priest in front of the large piano. He'll ask you to bring him a Velvet cloth. Trade him the cloth to receive a cutscene and receive the key item Old Boots. After the cutscene, go back to Chateau d'Oraguille and speak again with Curilla. Next, head to Crawler's Nest and farm a Nest Chest Key. Mobs that drop the keys include Blazer Beetles, Exorays, Hornflies, Labyrinth Lizard, Mushussus, Rumble Crawlers, Wespes and Witch Hazels. Once you get a key, find a regular treasure chest. On the second map, the chest can spawn at I-8, G-9, H-7 and H-8; or on the third map at I-8, H-8, G-7, H-9 and G-9. Trade your key to the chest to receive Crawler Blood. Note: You must go back to Curilla after obtaining the Blood, to trigger another CS before you go to bury your boots. Next, use sneak and head to I-10 on the second map. After sneaking past a scorpion, you will find a ??? in the middle of the corridor. Examine the ???. After the next Japanese midnight, return to the ??? and examine it again to receive your Warlock's Boots. Quest SeriesThis quest is part of the Red Mage artifact armor series. I talk to Curilla and she gives me the Horlais Peak quest instead of the AF2 quest! I am a lvl 50 RDM and completed the AF1 quest but accidentally threw away the AF1 sword (stupid, I know).
Edit: Oh nevermind, I figured it out! If you just accept the Horlais quest and talk to her again she'll give you the AF2 quest. Hope this helps someone. =)

If you need to know the Chest locations go to "http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/maps/crawlers_nest/treasure/"(I have yet to figure out how to make it a link i'm sorry)and the locations are shown on the maps(FYI the blue squares are the chests for the quest, not the red ones)

no map so i spent most of the evening running about the nest like a headless chicken. The chest didnt show up in the doughnut shaped room so i just wandered about to no avail. Only good thing to come out of this was seeing a GS party get wiped by a crawler link hehe

Went into cave followed the maps, found my chest and dropped off the boots no aggros! Came back the next day and picked up my boots. Real easy and nice.

just done this now i found the chest within 5 minuts it was in the big room past the place where u bury the boots and blood with the labyrinth lizards in , luckily i had saved a key i attained while partying there, /comfort to anyone who has searched and searched and hope u all manage to get it :O)

Ya this Chest is making me mad!!! I've looked for it ... no joke...8 hours with a one hour break or so.... I've decided that once I find and open the chest imma get the Crawler Blood out and take a big huge dump in it!!!!! to show it who is boss!!! Heh...
This info probably won't help most people, but I found it very useful. If you have another job that's higher than RDM, you can open the chest and receive the Crawler's Blood, bury the boots and all that. Just make sure you have the quest completely flagged before you leave for the Crawler's Nest. I finished up in San d'Oria and switched to BLM, which allowed me to look for the chest without having to worry about Sneak/Invis/possible death. At 75, nothing near the treasure chest spawns would aggro, which was nice.

I have to say this was the easiest AF getting for me i had my Key from PT'ing down there then came back later at lvl 50 after grabbing the quest. walk into the Big room where tons of pt's r and about 10Ft from the entrance into the big room is the chest i couldn't believe it was that fast. I grabbed the blood ran to the ??? (which was easy as heck to find via online map) threw in the boots and blood went to bed woke up and i had myself my AF boots. This quest took me about 10 minutes or so in total to really do. EASIEST AF EVER!!!! i'd say.

i talked to curilla after giving the cloth to the priest guy and it still says with me "looks like someone has been digging here".
(though i have spent the last 4 days trying to find the chest with no luck, maybe ill find it tomorrow...)

Just moving this very important information to the top. This step has been left out of the guide and has yet to be updated. Thanks to all those that already posted this.

/em feels stupid. I've been camping this d**mned ??? for 1 week now...Figured that the walkthrough given by Allah, or whomever posted it up there, was right. v.v Now I'm back on the ship to Sandy. So thanks Kaediis!
Also, to get back on topic, this quest can either be very easy, or quite a headache. As someone already posted down yonder, try to get teh key in a party from 48-50ish. Trust me, it helps alot. Also, remember that the Labrynth Lizzie's aggro to sound. One of the few Lizzie's I've encountered that aggro. So be wary. And stick around a place that has 2-3 spawns. I found that if you actually "camp" a spawn point, it can be alot less of a pain. Well, happy hunting all you Red Mages!

Curilla states that she would like to understand more, I came back to her about 2 weeks later after doing the quest because i was bored, and she has given me another quest... anyone know how/what to do, she gives no information on how to complete it???

Sneak didn't drop for me when I buried the boots tho' it certainly did once I finally found the damned chest - which I was prepared for. How I failed to aggro the 4-6 Exorays around me, I dunno.. or care. Just waiting for midnight Japan Time - if the crawlers aggro on my RDM57 (yes, I know, I'm slow to get these - RSE blows em away, IMO) I'm not too worried, Stoneskin, etc., will be up and ready for that, if I leave the crawlers alive in the first place.
I really wish I could have found a map of the actual spawn points for the dumb chests tho'... Ran across the coffer during my questing, pissed me off, but found the chest a few minutes later, so I was fine (after four runs into there, all previous ending in aggro when useless-*** sneak or invis wore off and I was unable to get clear of the beetles, etc., and me warping out in a flurry of obscenities)

BTW, I found the treasure chest in the Exoray room in Map 2... off of the LAbyrith Lizard room area. just FYI as to one of many spawn points. :)

Can someone plz help me out with this quest? I got a nest coffer key b/c fellow RDM tell me i need that key not a regualar chest key. So I couldn't find the coffer chest b/c i don't have a map so can someone plz! So do i need i need chest key?
wow, just did the whole thing in less then an hour, from getting the quest to putting the blood/boots in. logged upstairs in CN and all I have left to do is log in after about noon tomorrow and get my boots! Good luck to others trying to do this quest, hardest part is opening the chest (assuming you got the key in an xp party)
Question about the retrieval time. I am in EST USA. I buried my boots and the blood yesterday. Midnight japan time will be 10am my time. Now, do I need to return to that burial spot AT 10am, or anytime after?? i won't be home till about 6pm, which is like 8am Japan time. will i be able to get the boots? or do i need to be there right at Midnight japan time?
I'm not absolutely positive, but I think it doesn't matter as long as it's AFTER JP midnight.
If not, I'm in the same boat as you cuz I had to go to bed and it was still several hours before that time. :D

Ok, just found this out from a friend.
Those that get the Message "Someone's been digging here." Havent talked to Curilla after they went to Pagisalis... they dont show it in the guide either which is a dumb typo and made me waste 2 days...
Anyway hope someone sees this before its too late.

Ah my fellow rdm, you suffer from proceeding too far ahead in quests without fulfilling the necassary requirements first. Your buddy is right, you have to talk to Curilla again. There is an rdm AF walkthrough guide that has pretty detailed information in the stickie on the rdm forum.
Event based quests often require "triggers" in order to proceed further, complete, or otherwise be granted your desired item. You will often see these names of requested items in green when talking to NPC's.
Bergholz: I can restore your gloves, but I need you to bring me some Shadow Flames from Castle Zvahl Baileys.
You will see this when you go for your Warlock Glove's. If you try and jump ahead, and go and kill Dark Spark before speaking with Bergholz, you will be unable to recieve the Shadow Flames from the Torch after killing DS. When Bergholz says Shadow Flames, it is at this point that it "triggers" the ability for you to recieve the Shadow Flames after killing DS.
In your case. You cannot recieve the Crawlers Blood until you speak with Curilla again, and Prince Trion tells you how to exorcise the boots. You said you already had the blood though, which is not possible if you haven't talked to Curilla after donating the Velvet Cloth to Pagisalis.
I was able to immediately bury my boots after recieving my crawlers blood from the treasure chest. So if you are still told this with both the Old Boots and Crawlers Blood in you posession, then something is wrong. The only other thing I can think of is make sure you wait one real life day, and not a game day.
Hope this helps you get your boots, and get you past other quests that you may have, or will get stuck on.

Thats not true, you can get a chest nest key and open a treasure chest and receive the blood without talking to Curilla a second time. I did this and I got the message "Someone's been digging here." (at the ???). After talking to Curilla again I was able to bury the blood and boots. And now I'll have to wait to dig up my new shiny boots...

Ive done everything... got the boots and the blood and now i have to wait for midnight in japan.(11am est) Ok. i missed it the first time... and now im at it the second time... WTH? i keep getting the same message over and over that someone seems to be digging. Ive waited 2 days... do i have to actually be in game or something? what the heck am i doing wrong?
