Find the key item buried under one of the signposts on the Konschtat Highlands and bring it to Nbu Latteh's house.

Walkthrough

You must have completed Mom, the Adventurer? and have a Bastok Fame Level of 2 or higher to start this quest.

Talk to Nbu Latteh in Bastok Markets at (J-9) on Gold Street. Nbu has information about a treasure buried underneath a signpost in the Konschtat Highlands and wants you to find it for her.

Head to the (G-4)/(G-5) border of the Konschtat Highlands to find a signpost. Check the signpost to receive the "Painting of a Windmill" Key Item.

After obtaining the Key Item, go to Roh Latteh in Bastok Mines at (H-7). Talk to Roh to complete the quest and receive your reward, a Linen Robe.

Quest Series

This quest is a part of a series of quests offered by Nbu Latteh. See the list below for other quests in the series.

It states above that you need to be a minimum of level 5 to get this quest. That's incorrect. My mule just received it at level 2.

Now to dodge everything in my path...lol.

No level requirement for this; obtainable at level 1. However, since you will always receive Mom the Adventurer instead of this quest whilst you are Fame 1, it is, by definition, required Fame 2. In this fashion it might also serve as a sort of mini fame guide; but of course you would have to complete Mom t A every time you got it, in order to check if you were fame 2 next time. Better used as a way to gather fame for such required fame 2 quests as Mean Machine, acquired in the Bastok Metalworks from Unlucky Rat. And of course, with a built-in alarm to tell you when to stop running it; soon as you stop getting MtA and receive Signpost instead, go do Mean Machine. test test test test test test test

If you've gone to Konschtat and got the key item, but when you talk to Nbu Lateh, she keeps saying that the guard is looking, and she needs to make a living, you need to go talk to her daughter, in Bastok Mines, like the first quest.

Can't finish it

Ok, I have no idea what my fame level is or any of that, but I was able to get the quest. I then went to Windurst to do some quests and level my mages. Came back to Bastok and on my way remembered about the signpost thing, so stopped off at the first signpost I saw and got the key item. Went into town, talked to Nbu and all she says is that some guard is looking at her. I can't figure out how to FINISH this quest. I've tried talking to her at night, during the day, at dusk, on several different days, but still nothing. Any ideas?

Nevermind... Supposed to talk to Roh, not Nbu to finish the quest. I skipped over that part of the instructions.

At lvl 8 she offered me the quest, and I only finished Mission 1.
I did do a crapload of the other quests, including the copper ring only once, and a bunch of repeatables.
She offered this to me, when I went to try repeating the ring. No dice.
Anyways, I searched G4-G5 like a madman and all I found was death.
Not bad considering I didnt want to walk all the way back anyways. Haha, 11 sux with this long distance garbage

The sign is the first thing you see when coming from dunes. I don't know the exact coordinates, but roadsigns tend to be next to the road...

no level required

I used a lvl one Galka warrior. I did the ring quest about 10 times and then got this quest. I'm still lvl 1 so the description of the quest is wrong. You can get this at level one.

minimum level on ALL OF THE QUESTS basically just means you will die if you try to do it before that level... going into Konschtat highlands for any reason at level 1 is just dumb.... yes of course you can avoid aggro and do it but why not wait?

might have something to do with not losing exp... . Let's see....linen robe can be used at level 12 --still a level that you can die to in the highlands--, but of course, since he's a level 1 warrior, he couldn't need a linen robe....

Not like there's some kind of flying mouse thingy that changes your job in some magical {Bastok Residential Area}, kupopo.
reading her letter
# Jan 19 2004 at 11:30 PM Rating: Default
One thing to consider for those of you who have not gotten the quest is whether or not you "read" the letter from her daughter. If you open up the key items menu and read the letter, then Nbu Lattah's response is a bit different. I recommend not reading the letter if you want a second quest; not sure if it affects it or not though.
RE: reading her letter
# Jan 31 2004 at 12:38 PM Rating: Default
if u read the letter from the first quest, she only pays you 100gil, you can still get this quest. if you cannot, then you probly dont have the fame. gl
Problems with quest
# Jan 16 2004 at 4:52 PM Rating: Default
If you seem to have lots of fame, and have finished the first quest, and still don't seem to be able to get this quest, then your problem is likely to be as follows:

You picked up the 1st quest again some time ago, and now she won't give you the 2nd quest since you have the 1st quest in progress again. Unfortunetely, it is VERY hard to tell this is the case since your quest log will show the first quest as "completed" and she won't say anything different to you.

If this is your problem, simply go buy a copper ring, and give it her daughter again. You should get another letter. Return and give that to Nbu, then exit the zone, return and talk to Nbu again. You should now be able to get this quest.

I took my Galka Monk, with a few quests and missions under his belt one was the ring (Mom, the Adventurer?) without reading the letter (I did it for the gil) and got this quest the first time I asked... at the time I was not even close to being able to use the robe... or brave the Highlands for that matter...

I think I was level 9 at the time...

Any ideas on the trigger?

quest name
# Nov 14 2003 at 11:57 PM Rating: Default
I don't know if the quest names have been changed recently, but a few of these quest names just don't match the names in my quest log. This one for example is called "The Signpost Marks the Spot". Quest names don't vary between race or class, do they?
it is not 19 def
# Nov 11 2003 at 3:31 PM Rating: Decent
the robe is 10 def
what letter are you talking about?
# Nov 10 2003 at 7:08 AM Rating: Default
you're not doing the right quest.

she will NOT give you the quest till you have enough fame... do other smaller quest to increase fame.

she DEFINITELY will not give you this quest till you finish her first quest. giving her daughter a copper ring.

the item you need to get is a KEY ITEM painting... not letter.

This quest is either broken or something is terribly un-clear

I went from lvl 11 through 12 from mission 0 through 3-3 to become rank 2.
Got a ring 10x etc ..I have read and not read the letter...

It does NOT give me the quest BAH!

If someone knows what is going on I'd appreciate it cause i want that robe :)

fame is from rank?
# Nov 09 2003 at 3:18 AM Rating: Default
I got this mission at level 8 after doing the copper ring one (I read the letter). I've done 13 different 'quests' (some of them more than once) but my rank from 'missions' is just 1 because I got that quadav mission with all the body parts and haven't got all the body parts yet. So if you need low fame, then fame is rank and not quest related maybe?
RE: fame is from rank?
# Nov 17 2003 at 12:30 AM Rating: Default
I've done 13 quests AND finished the Quadav Part mission, making me rank 2. I'm a level 11 WM at the moment, and Nbu still doesn't give me the quest for the robe. Yes, I finished the copper ring quest, but I bought a ring instead of creating one. Perhaps we need to create a ring instead of buying one? Any thoughts/experiences?

Thanks,
Dil @ Midgardsormr (11 WM)

Keep doing the ring quest until she offers it to you. Your fame goes up each time you complete it, so she'll let you know when you'rr famous enough -- BTW -- to all you black mages and/or gil hunters, once she gives you this quest, you're famous enough to do the warp scroll quest in the metal works. :D

As asked b4 just having done the 1st quest
doesn't let you start this one.

I'm lvl11+ with no "fame" missions done.

Starting 1st mission now

If anybody know what the starting req's are it would be nice.. OR if soemthing specific needs to happen at the signpost..
Mission 4 needed
# Nov 07 2003 at 4:13 AM Rating: Default
I was only able to get this quest after completing the first quest and also accepting Mission 4. If you're having trouble getting Mission 4 you can cough up a stack of crystals to the guard that casts signet on you.
