Aldo
Mathilde/Emeline
Young Aldo
Seed Crystal
Aldo: Emeline!
Mathilde:...
Aldo: Emeline! Please...
Aldo: The war ended years ago...
There's nothing for you to fear anymore.
Aldo: Open your eyes, Emeline!
Free yourself from the nightmares of the past!
Aldo: Emeline!
Mathilde: Aldo...!?
It really...it really is you, Aldo!
Young Aldo Awakens, and casts a spell on Aldo rendering him unconscious, Emeline rushes to his side.
Aldo: Urghhhhhh!
Mathilde: Aldo! No!
Young Aldo: I'm afraid there's only room for one Aldo here.
Young Aldo: This is where we say farewell...dear uncle.
Innocent blood spills forth onto the plains of Vana'diel.
The world shudders as she is thrust into chaos and despair.
Neither power nor destiny...
...can bring an end to what has already begun.
Aldo: Wh-who... What are you?!
Mathilde: Aldo... This is--
???: The prophesied time is now at hand.
Behold your fate, foolish mortals...
A crystal awakens from within Young Aldo, leaving Young Aldo unconscious
Seed Crystal: So you are the ones who would seek to reverse irreversible fate.
To undo that which cannot be undone...
Seed Crystal: You are the ones who would forsake the very love that begot you...and for what?
Seed Crystal: For your pathetic material attachment to a world that was never yours to claim.
Seed Crystal: What sad, piteous creatures you are.
You...like this child...cling feebly to your transitory dreams, never realising that you are but pawns in a game played by the powers far beyond your comprehension.
Seed Crystal: But it matters little.
Seed Crystal: Just as a few grains of sand cannot stand against the roaring tide, nor blades of grass against the gusting winds...
A smattering of voices cannot drown out the echo of a thousand ages.
Seed Crystal: The prophecy will be fulfilled; the light of this world, extinguished.
Your role in this story has come to an end.
But as one bright star shines through the clouds at night...
And as one song rings clear above the roar of beasts...
We hold to one hope in these darkest of times.
That star is you, and the song is yours.
And some day, that hope will become our dreams...
Our prayers...
Shine forth, star of hope!
Let your song ring out across all of vana'diel!
By the strength of our hopes and prayers...
What was split asunder...
...Will once more become whole.
Complete and inseparable for all eternity.
Seed Crystal: Come, my children...
Seed Crystal: Embrace your return to the void that birthed you.
Seed Crystal: Fools!
You truly believe you can escape your destiny!?
Seed Crystal: This is the will of the crystal!
That which gives life, may take it away.
Seed Crystal: Now look upon the destruction of your beloved Vana'diel
Aldo: The will...of the crystal!?
Aldo: The giver of life? Hah!
Aldo: Don't make me laugh!
You're nothing but a twisted shadow!
Aldo: A perverse echo born of my sister's nightmare...
A nightmare whose time has long since passed.
Seed Crystal: Silence!
Seed Crystal: You know naught of which you speak.
The destiny which you would deny was prophesied long before your world came to be.
Seed Crystal: The door to paradise shall open...
Seed Crystal: And Vana'diel shall return to the darkness from which is was born.
Seed Crystal: The tides of fate will not be turned by the likes of you.
Aldo: Damn!
The giant crystal begins to consume the sky, Vana'diel's citizens and beastmen stop to view. Particles of light begin to float upwards...
Seed Crystal: This...this light...it is...
Seed Crystal: Impossible!
The ancient echo resounds through time and space...
The seed crystal radiates the primordial light of creation!
Seed Crystal: They cannot be extinguished by the likes of--
Seed Crystal: But how...?
This...is the power of the antiphon
Seed Crystal: This is the lifeforce...of Altana's children...?
As the legend began, so too does it end...with a stone. In ages past, the Dawn Goddess, stricken with grief,
sought to restore life to her fallen beloved
by bestowing unto him the light of a true crystal.
The crystal shattered, and in the bodies of
countless mortals the Twilight God was reborn.
The crystal's holy light extinguished evermore,
Paradise was no longer, and a new world of mortals
was birthed in its stead.
That world was called Vana'diel.
The Seed Crystal disappears
Mathilde: Aldo...?
Mathilde: Could it truly be you, Aldo?
My brother...
Mathilde: Aldo, can you hear me?
Please...Open your eyes...
Aldo: Emeline...
Mathilde: Aldo...But this is only a dream, isn't it?
Mathilde: A fleeting illusion that will vanish without trace before I wake to the light of a new day
Mathilde: I will carry on with my other life, with no memory of who I once was...
With no memory of you, nor what you mean to me...
Mathilde: Why must this be, Aldo?
I don't want to leave you again...
Aldo: Nor do I, Emeline.
And yet, even if we never meet again as brother and sister...
Aldo: Just the knowledge that you still live, under the same sun and stars in this world of Vana'diel...
Aldo: Somehow, that's enough.
Emeline helps Aldo up. Young Aldo watches from the side, until both Aldo and Emeline open their arms to him, Young Aldo runs to hug his family.
Mathilde: Farewell...Aldo...
A rare style of cut scene, seen only as you begin the game, and when you beat chains of promathia. The game is covered, the chat log disappears and you are given an in-game version of what is extremely similar to the ending of the intro fmv only this time, Aldo is with his family as well as his fellow adventurers, all of this is done with the following text written on top.
And so it was that this chapter of the legend drew to a close...
But even now, in a far corner of the world...
Another, yet untold chapter of the legend...
Another verse of the ancient song is being woven...
By a child of the past--
One who was not abandoned her dream...
But as one bright star shines through the clouds at night
And as one song rings clear above the roar of the beasts...
A vast ocean of glittering crystals illuminates the midnight sky,
a cosmic wind carrying their light through time and space.
Shine forth, star of hope! Let your song ring out across all of Vana'diel!
And then one day in a time to come...
What was split asunder will once more become whole,
complete and inseparable for all eternity.
That world was called Vana'diel.
Never to be forgotten...Vana'diel. This page last modified 2009-04-22 10:56:54.
