Easy... with trust magic
# Dec 29 2014 at 2:14 PM Rating: Decent
I Soloed this Quest as 50DRG/25WAR and it was easy, had 3 Basic TRUST war/wmh/pld and i had no problem. I even had 2 extra Mobs as Decurio I-III was hitting the trust. Of course i had to pop my 1 hour "aka 2 hour" but still its was not that bad. I would not try this fight without Trust magic.
Easy beyond words...

Solo'd with ease as a 61SMN/WHM Hume.

After duo leveling as my DRG with my roomie I set my HP in Rabao, switched to WHM and teleported to Holla. Hoofed it over to San d'Oria, switched back to DRG to flag the quest then used Warp to head back to Rabao. Gathered my gear and then switched to SMN, went outside, grabbed Refresh from the Field Manual out there and headed for the spawn point. When I arrived put up Sneak and summoned Carbuncle but not before killing a mob that was too close in case of link.

Anyway, I popped him, sent Carby after the oversized bug and went to work. Let Carby chip away a little, ran back, released then summoned Fenrir. Let Fenrir chew on the bug for awhile until ran low on MP. Released Fenrir, then switched to Carbuncle. Around 39% it threw up Invincible and started using Cure III. After its 2HR wore Carbuncle resumed chipping away at its life. Around 20% I resummoned Fenrir again and let him finish the bug off. Ran back, grabbed my stone and now on my way to get my lance. Overall it took about 30-45 minutes between the running around and the fight. Took maybe 10-15 minutes or less to take down the ant.
semi solo'ed

Well I tried by myself as 54rdmg/27blmg twice because it seemed that I could kite him to raise my mp back up enough the sec time since I almost killed him with 30% hp he had left, before I died.. because he uses some bash attack or something and "wow" that hurt. However the sec time I got links so I said to myself the third is a charm! Pulled out my trustie smoothing healer 50 npc.. buffed up as normal I kept refresh up at all times. it was a piece of cake. so good luck and watch out for that "wow" attack whatever it's called, and you'll be fine. :)

Just did this quest with myself as BLU67 and a friend, BLM52. There was never any doubt about the outcome. Even though I have some good evasion set up for my BLU I was surprised at how often he missed me. Invincible came about the same time as with others, but didn't last very long. He silenced me once; easily remedied by echo drops. All in all, a very easy fight.

I am fairly sure I could have soloed this, but I thought I would play it safe and bring the BLM along.
Easy..

So basically, on my main character, strifer on Bismarck server, I got my DRG to lvl 41 and decided that I wanted to get my DRG AF1 out of the way. So, I changed to my 75WAR/NIN and headed out to Eastern Altepa Desert. I killed some things to get my tp to 100%, casted Utsusemi, and popped it. It immediately casted flash, which was absorbed, of course. He almost rarely took one of my shadows away with Berserk and Aggressor up. Long story short... 3 rampages, killed him dead... not that hard of a fight. Yay i soloed it ^_^ lol.

Though I hit 42 a long time ago, I find the AF weapons to be something not needed, cuz they're not.

Anyways, went and did this the other night with a friend. It was me 52 Drg/Whm, and my friend 67 Sam/Thf. And we pwned the mob with hardly any difficulty at all. He didn't even barely touch my friend, but when I used Penta Thrust I kept the hate, and my Sam friend couldn't get the hate off of me. The mob hit his Invincible at about 35% health, and my friend did his own skillchain at the same time. So instead of finishing him off his Skillchain hit for 0, LOL >.>

But anyways after his Invincible wore he was dead in about 10 secs. Easy.

Well I just soloed this as 75PLD/37RDM, 4 minute fight. 4 savage blades, dispels and w00t done. This guy is a wimp. He doesn't attack that hard at all. I hardly lost any HP at all. GL to who all wants this done if you don't have a 70+ job.
Pwned

I fought this guy just last night as Dragoon 40 / 20 White Mage. I had just hit 40 and decided to go after the AF Peregrine, so I asked my ls if they wanted to come pwn a mob =p lol. Our party consisted of 70 Blu, 75 Whm, 75 Dark Knight, and me as 40 Drg. It was a breeze. I didn't really catch the defense difficulty that everyone's mentioning, As A Dragoon with the Behound lance I was hitting about 38-46, and my wyvern was hitting him for around 12 or so. Decurio I-III did use his two hour about 1/4 way through the fight, invincible, which was the only set back. We were hitting 0's for about 30 seconds =/ lol Either way, once that fell he became easy pickin's. He used that Aoe Silence attack, but the mages just throw out a flask of echo drops and we moved in for the kill.

The Mob is lvl 55 and the job is Paladin. A team of 60's can duo him pretty easily, but, if you attempt this at a low lvl I suggest you bring a Red Mage or Bard for Dispel. Anticans can get their defense up pretty high.

My real life daughter's dragoon hit 40, so I agreed to help her out with her AF weapon.

We went out as Rdm51/Whm25 (Nightjinxer, my daughters character), instead of her dragoon, and Pld62/War31 (Tyreewere, me) We both brought along our NPC's for fun. Night decided to skill up her staff instead of using her sword, which I had no problem with. Did the usual buffs, ate a taco, refresh to both of us, then popped the ???

This thing is a joke. Being a sorry excuse of a paladin, his physical damage was barely hitting me for 8-10 points. He did seem to cast Banish II a lot, but even that did little to me. He has some sort of spell, (Sand Storm ?) that provides him a cocoon-type shell. Night easily took that off with Dispel. With my Gluttony sword, (and some attack armor I keep on me for coffer key mob fights), I was beating the daylights out of this guy. Pulled off 2 Vorpal Blades and one Spirits Within during the fight. He does do a move that casts silence, but as any good paladin does, I keep a stack of echo drops on me at all times, and took it right back off. Fight took maybe 4 minutes, and when all was said and done, I was never down more than 200 hp's from full health. I've soloed Cactaurs tougher than this guy. Night went over, got her key item from the ???, and she was off to complete her quest. She is now the proud owner of the Peregrine, and I have another NM notched on my belt.

The ??? marker is located near the antican structure in H-8. It was on a fallen pillar on the upper level. (If memory serves it was on the eastern side, but I could be wrong.)

1) The mob is a pld with a very high defence. The 50 drg I was helping with this was hitting for roughly 10 and his wyvern's damage was miniscule. Whether that's because the drg was gimped or the mob was just that tough, I don't know. I didn't check the drg's equipment.

2) Decurio I-III has approximately 5030 hp according to parser.

Good luck!

This fight was kinda tough with 2 ppl. Myself (drg41/war20) and my friend (Mnk58/Nin19) she uses nin only for shadows. we both used 2hr right way because we thought it would be really hurt. but we were wrong. I never got touched because my friend kept all hate. she had 1400ish hp and at the end she had 300ish hp. in the end we succeded. pretty easy after 30% health
easy prey

did this with a lvl 66 whm and lvl 66 blm at drg lvl 40 one thing is that i couldnt hit it worth crap, i did like 10 dmg at most, blm took all the hate i tried voke jump high jump weaponskill couldnt do a damn thing, blm still had over half life at end of battle though and it lasted all of 3 mins = 3
Easy

Extremely easy did it as 72 thief/ninja and didn't get hit once, took about 10-20 minutes since his defense is immense and he spammed his damn defense boost ability... my off hand hit for 10-20 crit 30 and my on hand for 40-50 crit 80 weapon skill about 300, got annoying tword end when he started spaming cure III for 180 each, two of them totally negates my weapon skill so it got rather annoying, either way he's easy as hell and anyone w/ decent evasion can solo him no prob also this mob has very low agi as proven by my 90% crit rate vs him

P.S. For those who like to pick at games when you click the ??? it says "You feel a hostile gaze upon you!" but Antican are blind, infact they have no eyes at all, they detect by sound, just thought that was funny

P.S.S. be careful where you rest, a Sabotendar aggro'd me while I was resting and at the end of the battle hit me w/ 1000 needles left me w/ 5hp, barrly survived thanks to perfect dodge
Not too hard!

Just finished this quest, and it was pretty easy. Did it with a 54 pld/ 27 war , 54 whm/27 blm and me a 42 drg/ 21 thf.

It took forever that was for sure, but the thing did barely any damage to the Paladin. Averaging around 30 a hit, if it even managed to hit him.

The thing has a lot of hp and def, but its really not that hard.

Thanks to Roldabolt and Rebeccastarr for helping me out :)

My friend Khimono (40 DRG) was in the mood for some adventure tonight, and he'd gotten his DRG AF1 flagged. Our LS was empty and very few of our friends were online, so I (59 SAM) suggested that we attempt to duo Decurio I-III, knowing full well that we'd probably die, but have a lot of fun in the process and know what to do next time.

I brought along 6 Hi-Pots, the area surrounding the ??? was completely devoid of Anticans when we got there. It was nice and empty, I built up 300% TP, ate a mithkabob, used berserk and hit it with Tachi: Jinpu when he popped it. 500 damage... barely dented its HP bar. I was worried at this point, my 300% Jinpu's on too weak to easy prey mobs usually do 1-1.5k.

We both keep at it, niggling away its HP, each of us WSing whenever we have TP. It has HORRIBLE accuracy - it missed me very often, and I had Haubergeon on (Eva-20). But when it did hit, it hit pretty hard. Just over 100 damage per hit with berserk on. Eventually around 50% it pops Invincible, so I turn off berserk and put up defender and wait it out. When it wears off, I turned off defender and started using my Hi-Potions (it had me down to around 700/1148 HP)
I Enpi, Meikyo Shisui, Jinpu, Enpi, Jinpu.

Things get a little tougher towards the end, it's wearing me down a bit and I'm out of Hi-Potions. Eventually it gets me into the red, Khim vokes and manages to get hate (I only used voke once at the start of the fight, and glad I did). I let him take a few hits, the second he hit red HP I voked back. At this point it's all or nothing. Decurio's at around 1-2% HP, but I have 105hp and Khim has 110. I swing, my TP reaches 100%, Khim hits it with Double Thrust at the same time as I hit it with Jinpu and it drops dead.
It was a long fight - It lasted around 5 minutes or so, he has a lot of HP and very high defense.
No way I'd've been able to do it solo - Khim saved my life with that very well timed provoke. I'd also never have been able to do enough damage to it alone to win.

A combination of good luck, good timing, and perhaps a little skill, too, and Khimono has his Peregrine. :)

Sorry for the wall of text, I just had a lot of fun with this fight. It was a fantastic challenge.

just did this today as 55 thf/nin, 57 whm/something and 42 drg/thf.

drg spawned mob, I SA + viper bite to get hate, and managed to tank the whole fight with crow body, legs and feet. Only time I lost hate was when drg SA+ws but I had hate back as soon as I hit him again, and therefore wasted a SA.
Only time I looked in trouble was when I got silenced and couldn't cast shadows. Bloody bolts were doing about 20-30 drain on him, but luckily, he hardly ever hit. Was quiet a fun fight all in all.

To the guy who said this couldn't be solo'd by a 56 thf/nin, I disagree, as long as you take echo drops so you can re-cast shadows, I think I could have taken this mob solo, we took him down to about 40% before he used invinsable, then to about 30% before he even got 1 hit on me. Saying that, when he was hitting it was for around 80-90 each hit

Just did this quest.
Took myself (50 DRG), 53 PLD, 68 RDM and 66 SAM
Mob was dead in less than a minute.
I reccomend bringing a stack of echo drops and maybe a yag drink for the PLD.
SAM & DRG sub THF and then SA or SATA and the mob will be dead in under a minute for sure.

Yeh your stuff about the trident is perfectly valid but your completely omitting things such as WS damage (massivly based around weapon DMG) and just the fact that there are other factors that effect it, e.g mob defense.

But anyway in answer to a earlier question:

No this cannot be soloed by a 56 thief, it is a dark based mob and as a results bloody bolts do very little drain wise.

I took it as a 57 Thf/War with a 61 Blm/Whm helping out.

Took it with relative ease but it was a long fight and the blm nuked away the last 40% and cured me aswell as me using bloody bolts.

hi guys
Did this quest a long time ago but I'll give ya my experience on this mob. He's a Paladin. Plain and simple so he uses Invincible in the middle of the fight. I was 70RDM/BLM when i went so it wasnt much of a problem. My suggestion is no matter who you bring with you to help, clear the area of Ants. They do link and can be a pain for a 40ish player looking for their AF.
Once its clear and you can battle it no problem and fight it like any other Paladin mob. Once it uses Invincible...nuke it :P
hope this helps and good luck folks^^
