For DRK and WAR, I'll still favor A.Hauberk for TP built and multi-hit WS due to ACC bonus. No doubt this body can pump more damage, but A.Hauberk is safer so to say.

On another note, this body makes an excellent Sata+1hit WS like Spinning Slash and especially Steel Cyclone for its str+vit modifier.

For Paladins, this makes a great body for them in DPS standard since the job has +A in sword and Suppanomimi's +5sword skill brings it over the top, kinda negating the acc loss from not wearing Haubergeon. Then there's Refresh and high survival ability with +12vit +3%MP +3%HP tacked on to boot. Unfortunately this piece lacks enmity to support hate holding for tanking.

Ares's body is probably best for DRG, out of all the jobs that can don the armor. All the stats complement DRG for pt and soloing, with accuracy bonus trait to support this armor, making this piece even better than A.Hauberk. WHM sub and refresh sanction + dia has just made DRG very godly in soloing (not including NMs), provided his/her wyvern doesn't get shot down :3

If I can get this piece, I'll definitely lvl DRG and finish getting my PLD to 75..
HP/MP 4 Srsly

Nobody has mentioned that if you are a Hume/Mithra PLD (middleground stats) you get like 45~ hp+ and 15~ mp+ and obviously the +3% will reflect your race, so for a Galka, this thing could even have more Hp than Koenig :P

Oh yeah, and I've seen this on 4 Drgs and 3 Plds so far, have yet to see any of the other jobs take time to unlock it ^^;

DRG Finally Gets Hauby!
# Mar 01 2007 at 2:09 AM Rating: Decent
I also agree that this piece is very well suited to every job that can use it. It's essentially a Hauberk +2 with some handy added effects and VIT bonuses instead of DEX.

However, I must point this out.

This armor would be simply amazing for a soloing DRG. Even if it's just 1 MP per tick restored, that is more than enough considering I use 7 MP per Healing Breath. Also, this is the only piece of equipment that Dragoons have available that actually gives refresh, so even more amazing! Also, the fact that DRG can't even use the Hauby makes this even more desirable.
Call of the Cyclone

Combine this piece of armor with Relic +1 War gloves and that alone will give you a massive steel cyclone. I NEED this armor.....too bad nobody on my server really does salvage yet.

Tbh, i think this piece has names of all the jobs that can use it on it...
DRK: obvious, refresh, albeit 1 per tic prlly, is nice along with teh assload of STR
WAR: already been covered, and yes this would definitely make for a very nice Steel Cyclone, and the refresh wouldnt be completely useless if you go the way of the rune axe...
DRG: not much is known, but this piece could allow a dragoon to solo Toughs or higher for hours on end with no resting needed
PLD: again, refresh, but also VIT and STR, which usually most paladins dont have to worry about too much damage coming their way, so some of them actually try to get decent damage on some WS action...

All in all, its not "Specifically Crafted" for one job, it has points that are good for everybody 8D
btw i'm a Drg and soon to be Pld, but i just love doing damage, and this makes most DD body pieces, even heca, look like you'd might as well be wearing wax paper xD

Nice to see someone that actually gets it. People are quick to say how this would be great or best for their job. When in fact it is great for all jobs that can use it. You pretty much covered everything. But me fill in the drg part. The str is great for penta thrust, refresh for drg/mage since we use little mp 2 heal ourselves and party, vit is great for solo and is a mod for jump.

You see the squiggly little detail text on that armor?

It says "War Onry" and "Steel Cyclone" all over it...

Least that's what it screams at me. <3 best SC body piece in the game.

Like most I drooled on myself when I saw the stats. But after doing my first Salvage i have come to this conclusion. You are gonna burn thru points before you will see 1 piece of the armor drop unless you get lucky. Depending on what your group rules are the piece you want may get lotted on by 4-8 other people. Then there is the cost of meds if u want to stay alive during the first few mins. If you want to be helpful and u haven't lvled up mnk or pup u gonna have to lvl up ur hand to hand. (100 mins in salvage didn't get to unlock my polearm and hitting mobs for 0-2 dmg 5% of the time--TALK ABOUT FRUSTRATING) Now if you have nothing but time on ur hands and a shi# load of points 2 waste then by all means go for it. I am taking a different approach to this. I will let my shell go on a bunch or runs. I will stock up on my points for about 6 months as well as start to gather the fee needed to upgrade. During that time (hopefully) the people who want the same armor as me will have got most of it which will leave me with less people to compete with and less runs I will have to go on to get them. Also if there places the armor is more likely to drop at, they will have learned it by then. A few posts down someone said Patience (Difficulty: Impossible) I say patience is KEY ; )

question! what kinda dmg are the mobs weak against, since you said a mnk or pup im guessing blunt dmg? well if that is the case (and i dont know if it is) invest in a bourdanasse(sp) only 10k on hades server hidden effect blunt dmg i bought it for times when i help out with papyrus for g-1 or do the escort missions there, and if your not saying they are weak to blunt dmg, then disregard this.... please... (and of course i dunno anything about salvage and if its capped so this may not help even if you are saying that)
My take
# Jan 31 2007 at 10:26 AM Rating: Decent
No, u misunderstood. In the beginning of salvage u have nothing. No armor, weapons, subs, JA, MA etc. Just have ur bare hands. U have 2 unlock these abilities. (Me going the full 100 mins and not unlocking my polearm = me being just about useless) Me being a drg and never lvl mnk or pup my H2H acc and dmg is next to nothing. If you want to be somewhat helpful as drg having H2H will help. And I do have Bourdonasse ; )

I would like to state that DRG have no H2H skill so there will still be nothing, it won't even be on your list of combat skills.
Secondly, just summon your wyvern before you go in. Engage, attack once, walk away and let wyvern do the fighting, hopefully a MNK will be tanking. Your 1-2 points damage will be just giving it tp when you RARELY do that much. Better to just stay out of AoE range...

This would obviously pwn afv2 for pld. Def is identical. Vit is even higher than afv2! v+12 /drool. The only piece with higher def/vit is the god set that has -str and -dex. Therefore, since this has attk+24 and str +12, my guess is that you would do average dmg (at least for a pld) instead of miss, miss, whiff, miss, whiff AND you would get refresh, which is rare on any piece of equipment, period. I wonder if refresh gear stacks.... rdm refresh + this refresh, + parade gorget + hercules ring = /drool ? I dunno if I want to look like a drk tho....af+1 would look better appearancewise...at least being a pld I would think. Anyways, thats my two cents.

yet another dragoon that posts before the others show up.
All you need to get this set is
-1)party or do enough besieged to obtain the Imperials Standings to get gold coins (TOO EASY)
-2)complete enough of the TAU missions to be eligable to enter salvage missions (not as easy)
-3)build up an account of Assault points to routinely trade for entrance to Salvage (medium difficulty)
-4)obtain the drops specific to your job from Salvage areas (unknown difficulty: assume this is damn hard)
-5)locate a stack of specific high level craftables from the AH or resign yourself to many fruitless BCNM/KSNM fights (difficulty: mid-high, but more aggrevating than getting the Salvage drops)
-6)Patience (Difficulty: Impossible)

In Short: If you've seen these new sets you know you're screwed

Not to spoil anyone's fun. Believe me that I would LOVE to have any piece of this set (let alone all of it)

FFxiclopedia says that you need to trade each of the lesser items (the lvl 15,25, and 35 stuff) along with 12 ingots and a bunch of Imp. coins to get the lvl 75 stuff.

The mask requires 12 Orichalcum ingots...so unless you have 3.5 million gil...

The Cuirass requires 12 Imp. Wootz ingots. No idea on price.

The Gauntlets require 12 Bloodwood lumber. No idea on price.

Flanchards require 12 Wamoura cloth (200,000 a stack)

Sollerets require 12 Marid Leather (120,000 a stack)

Granted, that's if you buy the supplies from the AH. I don't know of any other place to get the Orichalcum ingots in that quantity, unless you do a boatload of BCNMs.

I would much rather they just provide these as a rare drop/reward from the higher level Salvage missions. Requiring consumable crafting supplies just brings you right back to being at the mercy of the player driven economy, to get these...imo.

I really got my hopes up there...for a second...
