Ok, so its known that there are quite a few BCNM's that have wyverns/dragons. So would a mistmelt bring them to the ground?
I heard of an item that brought down a dragon in a BCNM (rumor) and I'm not sure if it was this or not?

In safehold, was able to sell unused ones for 2k

Just to make it clear.
Yes, Mistmelt is used on Ouryu, it will keep him grounded for a period of time. This allows you to sleep it, and have melee hit it.
2 hippogryph tailfeathers (not to be confused with the regular feathers, which are expensive as hell) are required to get one mistmelt. As mentioned, trade to Ferchinne (G-9 on main level of safehold, underground near the stream).
The tailfeathers can be found on any hippogryph, I believe, but farming them off the regular ones in riverne A is easiest, as those are the weakest. Those ones will not drop regular feathers, but the tailfeathers are a common drop.
Otherwise, you can get the tailfeathers in players bazaars frequently enough. They can not be auctioned, but many bazaar them.

Its actually 2 hippo feathers for one mistmelt.
This is used in Promathia Mission 4-2 for the BCNM fight vs Ouryu (Dragon) I think it's used to make it stop flying around.

I have one of the tailfeathers.... When I couldn't sell it in AH I shouted asking how much it was worth (the head feather goes for 600k on the AH) And got a reply saying it was useless exept for killing a "weakling NM".
