Hey all,

Yes, as early as it seems, a small parcel dropped through my letterbox which, to my great surprise, contained FFXI with CoP.
No, i'm not joking, you're probably as bemused as I was.

I have no idea whether i'll be able to use all the features of the expansion until the 'proper' street date in the UK (17th Sept) as I have no idea whether they plan to do any more prelim. updates before the game is in consumers hands.

However, i'm currently installing the expansion as I type so I wanted to give people a chance to ask me some burning questions that can't wait until the street date in your respective countries. So please... Ask away, i've not been following the released information close enough to have any idea where to start. =P

So, SPOILERS BELOW for those that want the surprise...

Manual

OK, looking through the manual gives a small insight into what to expect from the game. There is no mention of any new jobs like there is in the Zilart manual, so that sorts that rumour out.

The manual does however have some interesting information on the new areas of FFXi. One that caught my eye as I was scanning through was concerning Bibiki Bay. It says "The [Fishing] guild intends to make its small fishing vessels, or "manaclippers" available for use by adventurers in the near future"

The manual also goes through areas such as Pso'Xja (controlled by the Tenshodo), although no indication of an entrance to said area. Attohwav Chasm - where the Antlions roam in the shady areas. This area is on the east part of Aragoneu.

Sory if the above info has been stated in press releases, i've not been following it closely enough to have realised =P

But please, if you would like an area searching then please let me know, and (presuming I can enter these areas) i'll get back to you with my findings.

I'm a a 50War/25Thf on the Alexander server, so that gives you some idea of the places I can travel through to report my findings.

I... Am... So... Jealous :-(

I don't suppose you have a scanner to scan the pages?

Hmmm, I doubt you'll be able to play anywhere that they haven't updated yet...but you might wanna go to gusgen or some of those new zones ppl found in the last update and see what happens just in case Smiley: wink

ooo, just wanted to add that the CoP expansion is 2 discs, as opposed to the 1 that RoZ came on.

Yeah, I'll check out the posts people have made, the roped off area of Sandy and the Tenshodo, as well as Gusgen. I'm expecting that you're right in that I can't play some of the non-updated bits.

I've not got a scanner, but i'll see how good a job I can do with my Digi Camera and upload them if it's worth it.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens now...if you got one I doubt that they accidentally just sent out one copy...lots of others probably got sent out also. Did you pre-order the jp or the NA version? And where did you order it from?
#6 Sep 11 2004 at 3:34 AM Rating: Decent
I got my copy too... this morning... at 9.00 am (its 10.30am now)

But I can't install untill sunday night >.<

And yes.. I live in Europe too (^.^)

Bah, i'm eating my fingernails while I type...

If i'm not mistaken the Tenshodo area is supposed to be a big excavation site which I will spend long hours, since I love excavation.

Also who did you order through?

I ordered through EB.

I ordered from Simplygames.com (A UK Site). They are notorious for sending games out early.

Installed now, more good news.. A shortcut on the desktop, straight to FFXI!

No more going through POL. /happy /happy /joy /joy

Oh and a note for anyone who might not believe him. Why in the world would you post on stuff like this when you could be proven wrong in a couple days. It just wouldn't make sense to lie, unless your that sick and twisted in which case...

Well, I used to work for bestbuy. At bestbuy they got games a few weeks in advanced usually, sometimes some of the guys would "buy" one, by taking down the UPC and the inventory numbers, they would then take it home, and ring it up on the day it came out. I did that for a few PS2/Xbox games (I know, I'm a bad person, please don't judge me :-(). Now I wish I still worked at bestbuy.

From what I understood, NONE of the content was going to be unlocked until NA release september 21st. Sounds cool though man. Can't wait to hear about all the new job abilities.

Does the manual say ANYTHING about new job abilities, or anything else that could be considered key news.

The manual is very... very sparing on detail. It only contains news about the news areas, nothing in sight about abilities or jobs. I'll check out the main part of the manual as they might have shoved it in there for the UK version.

Conflict, I noticed, had been added to the main part of the manual.

Edit: Conquest/conflict mixup

Sorry to be a fast poster, but i'm at work with NOTHING to do. Currently for the past couple days i've been fixing my computer 2 days no FFXI with me sitting right about to get out of the Dunes.

So this is like crack cocaine hooked up to my veins.

Any progress with the pictures?
