Dont give up, fight until your blue in the face. Ask for supervisor after supervisor if you must. Even consider the police as since hes using your copy of the FFXI you cant use it, thats theft. And if you go to the police try to get a sumpathetic, or one you know, to report too. Also tell them the hours you put in on it as that might go toward figuring the value of what was stolen. ;)

ummm call police if you know who it is. Identity theft is taken very seriously now. This should not be that difficult since you know the person.

And when you call SE don't talk to a call center peon, get a supervisor on the phone right away.

i am tempted to call BS on your story and chalk it up more to someone maybe having your allakhazam account and is trying to mess up your player but whatever.

-_-'' I hate to hear such thing. It's just soooo saddening to know such people exist in the world.

Sorry it happened to you.

Can I encourage you not to give up?
Since you already KNOW exactly who's the person who did it, you should keep chasing him/her.
By the way if you can get your sister's help by being your witness, it might help.
Although you might be unable to force him to return your account by law, you should try other methods...

What about peer pressure? Start telling his other friends this horrible thing and see the reaction on the both side....
His friends, if they have moral minds, should disgust the person and thus the situation might force him to regret what he has done. That might increase your chance of getting your account back.

Or maybe you can try to contact his parents, telling them what crime their son had committed. Parents who have righteous mind won't let their child get away with it when he did something wrong (esp, illegal).

By the way, I do hope that what he did was just writing down your detail, not stealing the code-containing manual book. That could be a solid proof that you're the rightful owner of the account.

[edit: I goofed out, so it's a he.]

Agreed. My friend got a back-door program many years ago which lead to someone getting all the information for his Ultima Online account. Since it wound up that the guy who stole it was only one city over, and my friend had proof of original ownership (like the CD keys), the cops could take action. (however, since it was a minor, all they got was some community service time)

If you have the original booklet with the ID keys, then call the cops. You can prove the account is yours by using the unique keys in your booklet with that account.

Now, if your friend has both the booklet AND the passwords, you might be up a creek, but give it a try.

Simple, since you know the culprit, head to your local
courthouse and file a small claims case seeking a judgement of
a few thousand dollars against the person. Also file an official
subpoena with SE USA demanding that the billing records for this
account be produced. Have the culprit officially served at their
home, sounds like a juvenile? and I strongly suspect that the
parents of this individual will be scrambling to make things
right. I would insist on reinbursement of all costs as well as
compensatory damages for your time spent. You can also file
criminal theft charges against the individual.

You will need to spend a bit of time and effort to do all of
this but I would. I'm get royall pissed off at anyone who thinks
they can can victimize me. Another fine alternative is to either
personnaly kick the snot out of this individual or, if that
isn't an option, have a friend or friends do it for you. And,
last but not least, I would remind my sibling that I hold them
personally responsible for the behavior of their guests and
would remind them of that fact often to motivate them to assist
me in resolving the matter. Also, try to get the word of this
persons criminal behavior out to their friends and aquantences.

So, the long and short of it... SE won't do a damn thing for you
so you have to take matters into your own hands. I recommend
that you get as mean and nasty as you possibly can from the
start to expidite a resolution. Make them pay far more, in
every way you possibly can, than your account can possibly be
worth.

Good Luck and I hope things work out for you. Also, be sure to
learn a lesson here and Do Not share your password with anyone.

The billing records you subpoena from SE will prove that you are
the rightful owner of the account even if the manual was stolen
by this individual.

You people miss the obvious choice.....call this little punks mother....

I mean if its your little sisters friend i'm guessing he's in Junior High or something. Call his parents, let them know what happened. Present whatever evidence you need to. It's the easiest solution.

Lets hope the parents of the perpetrator (sp) are repsonsible parents and not the kind that will tell him to go away. :/ Good luck.

meh just calling the kids mother is the easist, most civil solution, but beating him to a bloody pulp would be much more gratifying^^

*disclaimer - you really should just call the parents, beating the kid up would just cause problems for you. But damn, if someone ever deserved a beat-down, it this punk.

I concur fully with all the judgments on going to the effort of calling the cops on him. As others have said it sounds as though the kid is relatively young, if outright telling his parents doesn't produce results simply tell them you will take full legal action against their child and how that will look on his permanent record.

If they see you aren't kidding around whatsoever and it has a chance to severely damage their childs future they'll be likely to force him to hand it over.

And hell if that doesn't work go ahead with the full police thing and ***** over his future as much as possible. It's effectively identity theft and as others said the cops take it very seriously.

I think I understand why they [SE customer service] can't (or won't) do a thing.
They're too far away from the crime scene to prove anything.
So it's now all up to your effort to reclaim your property.

As I have already said above, reporting this crime to his parents might help.

Be sure you have enough evidence or witness to convince them.
And don't forget to remain calm and polite while you talk, because if you make a bad move, you'll appear a bad person in their eyes and they might become biased against you.

Oh wow I'm also on sylph and have seen you around before.

Stop at nothing - call SE with your credit card statements, content ID and get a supervisor not just the first rep who answers.

And yes go to his parents - chances are he is using their credit card now to pay the monthly fees. And ***** your twit sister out to are you sure she was not an accomplice?

If i see your imposter in Jeuno want me to do any shouts to warn others or anything?

Dude, you know what the worst thing is... chances are he didn't take your account to use it. If you do get it back, expect to be about 10 million gil poorer with all your sweet equipment that you worked so long and hard for, gone and sold. I dunno if there's legally any way to get it back, or even a way to prove you had it in the first place... I'd say after all is squared away, an asswhupping is probably in order.

How old is this person, and if they are young... why not get their parents involved? Or based on your age have your parents go to their parents?

Otherwise I can see not other action than to call the authorities.

No the people who suggest that you be nice and reasonable first,
don't, this persons actions were exactly the opposite and were
criminal as well. You will be doing this individual a favor in
the long run by demonstrating to the the error of their ways in
an unmistakable fashion, ie.. immediate legal action. Hopefully
this will help them to avoid the same type of mistake in the
future when the stakes would be much much higher. Letting these
type of people off the hook without experiencing the maximum
possible consequences is IMHO one of the reasons that it happens
as often as is does these days. Since this individual's parents
have clearly failed to instill a sense of right and wrong in
their child it is unlikely that a phone call from you will
rectify this. Send an unmistakable message and call the police.

Really though, hes probably using his parents credit card to pay for something stolen. This should really steam their carrots alone. Put a lot on your door if your sister has friends like this. Yes tell your parents about it too.

Most HNM linkshells have forums to organize events when not everyone is on the game at the same time.

Eveningstar, SE can't do anything because they have no proof of who the real owner is. For all they know, you might have been paying for his account for him all along, and nobody is going to have the authority to fix this on their end until you get your passwords back. This is way outside of their jurisdiction, and way outside of their legal rights. That's why they're telling you to get lost, because they risk getting sued by your sister's friend if they do anything.

Call the punk's mother and threaten to call the police. You will never get your character back unless you confront him.

I would definately call the little sh*ts mom, after informing YOUR parents (if you're that young) of what they did. I'm pretty sure if you tell the kids parents what he/she did and inform them you are going to seek justice over the stolen account, odds are you'll get it back.

And there's no way eveningstar is lying about this. I know her, she's a good person! I'm shocked and appalled someone stole her account >:( Especially a friend of your sisters. That's just awful.

Square won't do anything because how do they know YOU aren't trying to steal the account from the rightful owner? We know you aren't, you know you aren't, but Square doesn't want to deal with the possiblity of someone else calling them and saying the same thing if they turn the account back over to you. Unfortunately, you have no real proof someone actually stole the account. So your best bet is to go through local measures. I would definately contact the kids parents, talk to your folks, and do what you have done-warn people in the game you aren't really you.
