I was reporting someone for bot-camping Morbolger, and proceeded to have this conversation with a GM:

Is it me, or is that just the stupidest question ever?

Well, if someone's going to go AFK and use a bot that does nothing but voke (and I mean literally nothing), then hey, go ahead and use it, I say. Even the unluckiest Leaping Lizzy would still beat you down in enough time, and it would at least provide me with some entertainment.

So what happened afterwards? Were you able to claim Morbolger and get your drop? I am interested.

Yeah, I was just there to help a friend get their drop, we spammed provoke while she was being killed, when it went unclaimed we got it, and we got drop for him.

Not really. The point of the question is shown by the *second* question he asked, "Did he homepoint?" He thought there was a possibility it was a death warp.

I understand the qusetion, actually. They probably get a lot of botting calls, so they can't just take every report as it is. It was kind of a stupid question, but they probably have to ask. I've had to go afk before mid fight, and sometimes the mob moves on me. **** happens. But yeah, they probably have to ask it.

Yes, but why -specifically- HP off of a particular 21-24 HR Spawn NM two days in a row? Isn't that a bit odd if it isn't a bot?

Regarding dumb questions, I'd have to agree that he probably has a list of questions that need to be asked when a bot is reported; that being one of them. I'd say the stupidest question I've ever heard was along the lines of a call I took working Tech Support:

(Off-topic)

Customer: "Why won't my laptop turn on?"
Me: "Is it plugged in right now?"
Customer: "No, it's wireless."
Me: "How long has it been running before it shut off?"
Customer: "A couple hours, I guess"
Me: "Let's plug it in"
(Customer plugs in laptop)
Customer "Ok, it comes on now." (pause) "I unplugged it and it went off again."
Me: "The battery has most likely depleted; you'll need to recharge it by plugging it in for a while"
Customer: "The people at the store told me it would be wireless! They lied to me! Let me talk to your manager!"

At this point, I proceeded to get someone else on the phone for her to ***** at and LMAOed at her, but no... that wasn't the stupidest question I've ever heard.

(End pointless thread hijack, sorry)

or maybe his friends were coming to help fight it, and he couldn't kill it on his own. Since you were there he claimed it in the hopes they'd arrive in time to kill it and save him.

Perhaps he waited around afterwards because he was waiting for a raise from those same people.

It wasn't a stupid question.

It was a level 60+ rdm who made no attempt at all to even attack it or heal herself. It was a bot.

It engaged it (drew weapon), but was facing the wrong way, so wasn't auto attacking.

Probably a bot with a error in the program.

As for the Tech Support caller, I laughed my *** off at that. The stupidity of some people amazes me.

On the stupid questiong/tech support calls thing. My cousing worked there and he had these calls:

Woman: Blah blah blah problem!
Cousin: Well first, close all the windows.
W: Ok *proceded to closing all windows in her house"
C: ... I meant on the computer.
W: ... oh...

and this:

C: Try unplugging your internet cord and plugging it back in but be carefull not to unplug the...
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
...phone line... -_-

=D And yes, that GM's question was probably not stupid since he didn't know all the details already. But it still made me laugh.

Best case scenario to redeem the GM: The guy was camping Malboro type mobs for the Vines and accidentily voked Morbolger and instead of trying to kill it he knew he would fail so he just stood there and took his death like a man. I'm sure the GM thought something like that happened, still funny when you look at it though. Hah

If you ask my opinion... that wasn't a real GM you talked to... that was a GM bot...

No, not really. My guess is routine questioning.

actually the hping question is very relevant, if he is botting then he would have hp'd right away after dying, but since he didnt then he wasnt botting

Even though it could be 'possible' that this person was trying to death warp, the GM can't actually sit with a straight face thinking "Oh yeah, I camp notorious monsters for 3 hours all the time to death warp". I'm sorry but i'm leaning torwards a bot.

You know about the customer service thing, I work at a credit card application center, and you would be suprised how many people get mad at me even though all I am doing is filling out there application!

Heck, some people seek out NM for the shear purpose of just seeing them, and then dying from them. I know someone who is obsessed with getting killed by the dragon in King Rampere's tomb. I ask him... "so, what are you up to in the game today?" and he says, "Oh nothing... just thought I'd go to King Rampere's Tomb again and commit suicide."

People on this game are weird... just the other day, while farming wind crystals, a Taru came up to me and gave me 1.2 million gil... for no reason. And an hour later, someone was running around with fairy wings (from a firework, I think) screaming "Red Bull Gives You Wings!" All in the same day.

So, I'd say it was a relevant question, you can never assume that people playing this game are sane.

You know, I seriously question if most GMs even play the game.

I was doing the Rostrum Pumps NM one time and we were being MPKed by people training Corses while fighting Tiamat. So I called a GM. After his scripted spiel he told me "good luck with the claim and drop." (o_O) This is a forced-pop NM with a 100% drop rate....

Just to offer a thought (not trying to be argumentative), but if I were farming vines, I'd just go to Rolanberry where Ochus roam everywhere and vines are a dime a dozen, rather than to walk all the way down to the bottom of Ordelle's to camp the two Stropers that pop there.
